I returned to Castle Durrow after having stayed there last year. Once again we had a really nice relaxing time which is easy to do when you are surrounded by such beauty. Service once again was excellent. My 21 month old daugter came with us this time and had a fantatsic time. Our huge family room was beside a specially allocated playroom for kids which was brilliant. Apart from the majority of the toys needing new batteries it was a great resource to have. The hotel organised a babysitter for us on both nights and supplied excellent food in our room for the baby at a very resonable price.

The only negative point I would make is about the food. Each time I have eaten here the food has been mediocre. Breakfast is very average also. We decided to eat in Abbeyleix on our second night in a new restaurant called 'McEvoys' also owned by Castle Durrow. Small menu at very good prices but the food was completely dreadful. All five in our party had very poor food. We did rely this to the manager upon paying who apologised and offered to deduct money but we didn't accept, just wanted to offer feedback.

I have stayed in numerous establishments noted in the Blue Book. Castle Durrow definitely deserves it's place but lets itself down with the food. Overall the experince was lovely and I will return again if I am in the area.

We chose Castle Durrow from the Blue Book and knew that the standard would be good however we were more than pleasantly surprised as we had been measuring all of our experiences with hotels and breaks to our honeymoon stay at Ballinahinch Castle last year. We thought we would not experience anything remotely like this again - the staff were obviously happy working there as the atmosphere was one of understated friendliness. One of the things that struck us both was the generousity of the establishment. Complimentary tea coffee and handmade biscuits in the library room. Great food, beautiful gardens.

My wife and I stayed here in May 2009 for two days when we attended a wedding.

Everything about the hotel is great. The food was excellent, staff very good and the grounds are excellent. It rained for the wedding but this is can't be blamed on the hotel.

This was the highligt of our break aways so far. The services and staff was fantastic. The food was out of this world. We enjoyed the walks and it was lovely to have our sheets turned down and a chocolate and a poem on our pillow.
