Have just returned from staying in this 2 bedroom apartment for a week, and wanted to share how lovely the trip was, the apartment, the resort, and not to mention the weather!
The apartment itself was very well looked after in a clean condition, and having two bathrooms was rather a luxury! The kitchen served its purpose and all the utensils you could need were available. The beds were comfortable, although we didn't realise there wasn't a double bed...we pushed two singles together.
Having the air con was a god send to keep cool, and was quiet enough to sleep with in the bedrooms, or to watch the ENGLISH tv in the comfy lounge (Managed to watch Wimbledon - Brilliant!)
Note: Make sure you put on anti-mosquito stuff as me and my partner both got bitten quite badly towards the end of our stay.
The apartment grounds are very well looked after, the grass is green, the childrens play areas is safe, and most importantly the swimming pool (open 11am - 6pm) was clean, and ever so QUIET! Guarded by a friendly life guard every day. It was just a little disappointing we couldn't play with our ball in the water. There is a tennis court and stuff available, but it was too hot for us to have a game.
The apartment also offered some useful items such as cool bags, ice packs, sun umbrellas which were really useful throughout the holiday.
The resort of Isla Canela in general is beautiful, the promenade along the beach is lined with palm trees across water sprinkled green grass, and there is a board walk to the beach every few yards or so. It is VERY quiet however...
The beach is about 2 minute walk away, lovely and sandy, and again, very quiet, the only thing you have to watch out for is at certain times (an hour or so a day) there seemed to be a lot of dead fish washed up! (A very minor issue however)
About a half hour walk away you can reach the Marina, or 20 minute walk to the nearest stretch of small shops. At both places you can find some lovely restaurants, most serve Spanish food, but we ate at a Pizzeria in the Marina that served lovely pizza, pasta, and meat dishes. The walking suited us as we don't mind a venture, but not ideal for walking with little ones/disabled. There is however a circular bus and train you can hop on at a low cost if you don't fancy the walking.
Apartment: Cool Air Con, Clean, English TV, 2 bathrooms, comfy beds
Pool: Quiet, Safe, Life guarded
Beach: Quiet, Beautiful, watch the fish!
Isla Canela: Very quiet, no nightlife, handful of restaurants, predominantly spanish, nice atmosphere, quite a lot of walking involved
Recommendations: Hire a car, Wear anti mosquito stuff, go to the pizzeria!
