I know this is a bit late but here's our thoughts.
My wife and I were travelling for the ferry from Harwich to Denmark in August of this year and needed somewhere to stay overnight. We were travelling by classic motorcycle and needed somewhere with secure overnight parking. I contacted the owners and was impressed with his enthusiasm and sincerity so booked a room for the night. We were made very welcome and the bike was very securely parked at the rear of the hotel, out of sight and under the watch of CCTV
Great, spacious room. really comfortable, and a great ''full English in the morning!
An added bonus was the J.D.Weatherspoons a 3 mnute walk away.
Highly recommended and a great stopover in a lovely town just minutes off the main A14
Thanks for your hospitality!!

A lovely guest house, spotlessly clean, good choice of breakfast perfectly cooked fresh to our requirements. Our room no 6 was spacious and inviting and the en-suite was large with both bath and free standing shower. The guest house is in an excellent position for travelling round Suffolk and a 2 minute walk to the centre of Stowmarket.Gianfranco and Suzanne keep a good, clean friendly house and we will definately return.

Room Tip: Room 6 overlooked the garden whilst the bathroom overlooked verandah house carpark

As a group of 4-6 teachers of a Dutch secondary school, we've lodged here many times on our annually trips to England. Each time we have enjoyed our stays, the warm welcomes, cozy rooms and especially the food. We recommend this house to those who appreciate old style and modern efficiency.

I stayed at the B&B with my family (husband and 6 month old twins) for 3 nights. I only really spoke to the owner Mr Neroni who i found really friendly and welcoming. The B&B has a lovely garden and the room was nice and spacious. I would definitely stay there again. Only possible issues were that the mattress i thought was too soft. Could possibly do with replacing. The stairs are quite steep. We were concerned that we would drop the twins going up and down. The biggest issue for me was that the nights were really cold. 12 degrees according to my phone. We asked if we could have the heating on but were told to request more blankets. This would be fine for us but i was worried about having too many blankets in the baby cot. Both boys were not able to sleep with us on the bed. I thought that was quite inappropriate and was ticked off. Cooked breakfast was ok. Bacon was extremely salty and mushrooms plain. Could have done with some baked beans maybe. Loved the sausages though.

I would stay there again but would possibly get a downstairs room and carry a heater just in case! I do agree that the parking is a nightmare! Cleaning was also inconsistent. Proper cleaning on friday but no cleaning on saturday. Just needs some consistency.

Room Tip: If you have young children, choose a downstairs room. Carry your own cot mattress to add onto their...

Thank you for your comments on your recent stay with us at Verandah House. We welcome any feedback that can try improve our way of doing things but sometimes it can prove impossible, i.e. stairs being a little steep, we are talking about a listed house that was build in 1702 and structurally cannot be changed! Having experienced twin boys of my own(albeit grown up now!) I know it can be a challenge to go away for a break, sometimes hotels have more equipment i.e. more than one travel cot. We have seven bedrooms, therefore we carry one travel cot and with soft linen blankets etc, and one high chair, as we have only one family room we find that these days most parents will carry their own travel cot. We very rarely need to use the cot these days.

For your information our mattresses are top bespoken mattresses which are used in most top hotels. There are plenty of comments on this site that refer to the beds that are extremely comfortable, of course I appreciate it is an individual choice of what guests prefer but we obviously have to cater for the average person, these mattresses are relatively new so they certainly do not need replacing yet for at least three to four more years.

Your stay was at the end of July and the heating is not on this time of the year! We always offer extra blankets if requested, other rooms often kick off the blankets as you also have a thick throw on the beds as well. I pointed out the safety of sleeping with twins in your double bed (as said before having had twins!). We would not have wanted an unnecessary accident to have happened. Although we have an emergency electric heater this would be very dangerous with all the extra equipment in the room plus two babies and would have been a fire hazard as well.

Regarding the breakfasts, we don’t usually serve breakfasts in the room but we tried to be obliging and allowed this because you were busy with your little boys! The first morning your husband ordered a full Suffolk Breakfast for yourself only to bring it back more than an hour later having eaten the mushrooms only. The following morning you ate it all! Bake beans are always available on request as stated in your information folder that is in every room. Of course if you ate in the dining room we could have been able to cater for all your needs ie: requesting baked beans.

The car park, I agree, is on the small size but we can certainly park seven cars if they are parked sensibly. We do not allow friends of guests to use our car park, as in your case, when we are full as the car park would certainly not have been big enough for all our resident guests to use. However we are lucky to have a road behind the garden wall which is not yellow lined and anyone can park there if they are happy to walk the extra few yards!!

We do have one downstairs room but it is not quite as big as the room you had (room 2) at the top of the stairs! At the time it was occupied by a couple who uses a wheelchair, which of course is priority.

The ladies that service our rooms have been with us for years, they take pride in their job and we have never had any complaints before.

A lovely , ETB ranked B&B, at the top of Stowmarket-----my wife and I recently stayed there whilst on one of our routine trips to the area ( our friends' house was already full on this occasion).
The owners were charming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, the room (en-suite) was of a very high standard.
We will not hesitate to return , as we go to the area so often.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.............
