A combination of setting, atmosphere and great food
Our favourite Pub for food and a great lunch out
Good choice of two menu's and excellent service combines to make the eating experience a truly great one
My only criticism is the lack of Timothy Taylor's Ales in recent months!

Thank you for your very positive review we are very happy that you are happy with the Tempest.

We are also sad to see the demise of Timothy Taylors, but unfortunatley this particular brewery has given such hefty increases in the cost price, we do not feel it right to keep passing on the cost to our customers at such a rate.

We have how ever introduced a range of craft brews with the excellent Hetton Ale and Ilkley brewery! to name but two next time you are in ask for a taste I am surey ou will be impressed

We had a two-day break at the Tempest over the half-term holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were spacious and extremely comfortable and functional. Lovely little extras such as real coffee, flapjacks and some gorgeous chocolates. Best quality towels and dressing gowns! The Inn itself has a fantastic ambience, and is well balanced between being a convivial pub and an exciting but no-frills restaurant. (We did experience a few problems with the food, but these were handled adequately by the staff). I wanted to meet Veronica after reading her notes on other reviews, but unfortunately she wasn't around,; but we did meet Martin. the owner, who was a smashing guy! NB Check out the other (4) pubs in the chain. I will be!

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 2 nights over a weekend and had a lovely time. We stayed in one of the double rooms in the main building - the room was spacious and clean, and had a extremely comfy bed! The bathroom didnt have a bath but it had a nice power shower instead. A lovely touch was at reception they have cakes that you can help yourself too for free, they also have lots of magazines that you can borrow, I particularly liked the many travel magazines they had. We had an evening meal there on the first night - we have eaten at the Tempest before so knew to expect good food but this time the meal was even better! I had pork and black pudding roulade with a potato rosti in a cider and apple creamy sauce which was amazing. Me and my boyfriend then shared sticky toffee pudding which was to die for! The breakfast in the morning was also excellent and there are is a huge choice. Skipton isn't too far from the hotel but a taxi there cost £10. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it!

The Tempest was recommended to us by friends and I'm only too happy to pass the recommendation on to others. We had a two night break which included dinner, bed and breakfast at a very reasonable rate. Our room was delightful, on the first floor and overlooking a stream and fields. It was well equipped with plenty of space and funiture and everything was spotlessly clean, including the good-sized bathroom. Breakfast was very good and the menu for the evening meal seemed endless! We really enjoyed our evening meal and judging by the number of people dining, the restaurant also seems very popular with the locals.
Couldn't fault the staff or the service at all. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and everyone seemed keen to ensure that guests would have an enjoyable experience. Just a small thing, but when I asked the barman what a particular beer was like he gave me a sample to try first. That's the way to treat customers.

4th Visit ...as a Post Christmas treat booked Exc Suite... Beautiful room and all those little extras make a weekend away " Special " Bathroom was divine... had 2 hot leisurely soaks in one weekend ! Loved the flapjack and bottled water/ towelling robes... Dined in the pub both nights as we adore the Menu. My only criticism is it is a bit of a wait for food but that is because it is so popular and busy, which is a sign of good quality meals.I We found the wine reasonably priced for a bottle so didn't mind relaxing while we waited. You can get some really good deal on the Room Rates so that makes the whole experience amazing. I will be returning and returning.....

If heading for the Yorkshire Dales this is the ideal place for lunch. Even when as usual the car parks are packed there is still plenty of room inside and the service is still prompt. The menu has something for everyone, even those who remember the war. There are several good pubs in the area but the Tempest stands out as the best.
