We didn't stay in the hotel, although I'm sure it was lovely, we just had a meal on a Friday evening
They didn't have any room in the restaurant, now having been I could easily see why people flock here so I would definitely advise booking. Nonetheless we sat in the bar area and ordered our own food which was absolutely fine. We could put food and drinks on the same tab and it was all very easy. The staff were very very friendly, which I always find nice.
My mother had the fish cake, followed by the toad in the hole, which was absolutely huge. Delicious, she informed me, but somewhat substantial! I had the goats cheese starter, followed by the roast belly pork - again, absolutely divine.

The prices (of drinks and food) and perfectly reasonable, I would have no hesitation in booking to go here again tomorrow.
If I have one piece of advice, it would be to NOT fill up on the free breadboard that comes pre-starters like I did!!

We visited on Bank Holiday Monday - for that I will forgive slow service.
We were enticed by the menu and beauty of this part of Yorkshire.
he service we received was very good, when we got it.
The food was to be really honest tasty but just not as good as we had hoped.
The asparagus was beautiful, the scallops and prawns ok but it was topped with mash to make up for the lack of the main ingredients, regrettably the 'must have' fish pancake was a big let down with hardly any fish.
Overall we came away knowing it was a busy day and wanting to go back but thinking it was an expensive price tag for what you actually get.

We booked a last minute getaway on a bank hol weekend. Wasn't sure what to expect, as it was the only place we could find that was available (we noticed it wasn't listed on last minute.com/late bookings etcetera)
We were delighted! This place exceeded our expectations, and found it very welcoming and homely than the Angel at Hetton (which was our first choice).
The bedroom (room 15) was spacious, clean and modern. We loved the little touches, such as flap jacks left in the tea tray, bottled water to drink, chocolates on the bed, plenty of tea and coffee.
In reception on arrival, there were a selection of beautiful cakes to have, for free. Magazines to read. We just loved the quirkiness of the hotel!
The staff were very pleasant And helpful.
We had an evening meal that night. The food was so good! Really lovely, and the pub was rammed. The breakfast the next morning was the best breakfast we'd ever tried!
We will defiantly return again (soon I hope!).

We stayed for two nights in a club room on an offer that required a visit to the restaurant. The room was large and comfortable with a gas fire which was much in use given the very poor weather. We ate at the restaurant and the food was very good and relatively cheap given its location just outside Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales. Breakfast was part buffet and part a la carte and excellent quality. Only drawback of the whole stay was having our bikes stored securely but outdoors so they did get drenched in the rain. Given the location and the impending grand depart I'd expect storage because they shouldn't be short of visiting cyclists over the coming year.

Just returned after a 1 night stay at The Tempest Arms and all I can say is fantastic. Booked an executive suite- wow!! Huge four poster bed, seating area with a flat screen tv and lovely gas fire. French doors led to a seating area with views of the stream and surrounding country side. Afternoon drinks in the bar sat next to the log burner was a truly relaxing experience and our evening meal in the restaurant finished the day off to perfection, the plaice and new potatoes were to die for as I told my husband on several occasions!! Breakfast between 9-10 is a great idea, as I really didn't want to leave the king size bed, lots of choice and friendly staff, what more could you ask for. Had such a lovely time I've already booked a visit to one of the sister inns- lets see if it can live up to The Tempest!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 19-excellent!!
