Nice atmosphere and location
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 26 Mar 2019via mobile
The location was perfect! Just by the Santa Maria beach and a 10 minute walk to Santa Maria centre. The pool area was very nice. They had a lot of nice activities every day and shows every evening. Tho most of the animatiin team spoke mainly italian and some of the shows in the evening were basically only in italian so most people who didn't speak italian left mid show. But the stuff that weren't in italian were really good. But it was very clear while there that this hotel is mostly for italian speaking people. The rooms were a bit run down and needs to be freshened up a bit. Just some new paint would make a night and day difference. The food was very good most of the time but sometimes it could be tasteless. But the overall atmosphere and the location of the hotel made it great.

Stayed at the Pousada Vila do Farol for 3 nights with my family, and we had a great time.
I must confess that i was expecting a little bit more considering the price paid, but it was okay.
I stayed before at the Vila do coral that belongs to the same company and honestly i think i prefer Vila do Coral
The Pousada was very good , with access to the beach and beautiful pool, but everything was so simple and basic that i think it was a bit overpriced in the end.
The hotel offer a free wifi but the connection is pretty bad, working okay just by the pool.

Spent 7 days at this magnificent resort. We were a family of four and so we hired two apartments as we have two grown up sons. The apartments are really spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Fun activities every day. Beach right on your doorstep with umbrellas, tables and loungers readily available. You can order your drinks and food from the hotel whilst on the beach. The swimming pool area is also very comfortable with a bar and food. The hotel grounds are very well maintained. The hotel is in a very good position should you wish to wonder around the town and visit various stores or different restaurants.
Overall I can recommend this hotel and we will definately go back!!!

The hotel is very well located. From the sea front rooms, you're actually at the beach. Needless to say that Bombinhas is one of the finest South Brazilian beaches: the water is really gorgeous in its emerald color, the sand is white as snow, all of this framed by a cozy haven. And the hotel takes advantage of its privileged position. But the rooms need refurbishing, or at least an update. As example: my family and I took 2 rooms. In one of them, the shutters were torn, the fridge seemed (and indeed it was) old, the safe didn't work, as well as the door lock. In the other room, the linen was too short for the beds' size.
Not capital sins, but incompatible with the price charged (almost R$ 400 for room). OK, it was a full board fare. But the provided food was just average, and most guests (like me) would prefer to choose from the extensive list of local restaurants and its typical local food, all of them at walking distance from Vila do Farol.

Room tip: Ask for a room at ground floor, facing the beach

We stayed for one week at the Vila do Farol at the end of the summer season 2012.
The pros: very clean, lovely garden/pool area, very easy access to beach (it is a public beach, not a private beach FYI), excellent breakfast (with delicious fresh fruit and strong coffee)
The cons: very expensive. One should understand for the price one is getting a very simple room with a small kitchenette. The AC worked fine, and the windows and doors were good quality so outside noises were hardly noticed. The bathroom has a good sized shower but no tub (if you are traveling with a very small child). The towels and bed linens were average to slightly worn.
We stayed with a 2 year old. It was an extremely easy place to take her. The hotel provides fresh beach towels, so there is no need to pack your own. The children´s food on the take-out menu was just so-so, and the room only had a microwave and a mini fridge, so food (cooking and storing in the mini fridge) became a bit problematic as the week went one. The hotel felt very safe, but a small child will need supervision by the pool and walking to the breakfast area as there is a parking lot. The best reason to go is the beach. The beach itself gets a bit crowded, but the water is so lovely, clean and calm, and it is a perfect beach for a little one to play and swim. There are a zillion shops in town that sell floats, beach toys and everything else for the beach under the sun. Bombinhas is definitely one of the nicest beaches in the area. The hotel has a little "section" on the beach with lounge chairs and umbrellas. One can get bar service from the hotel bar on the beach, too (so we enjoyed shrimp and caipirinhas on the beach). There were plenty of activities for the kids (the kids staff all spoke Portuguese and a little Spanish), but our daughter was a bit young so we didn´t do them this time.
The reception staff was very nice and many of the breakfast staff were very friendly, too. My husband and I did feel an overall "coldness" from the hotel- many communications on rules (no ordering pizza from outside, no putting clothes out to dry on the balconies, etc). I felt like I was staying at a fussy aunt´s home. Also, we wanted room service our first night there as we checked in late. Room service was up until 11:00 PM, but when we called at 10:50 we were told it was already closed.
I think it is the best place to stay in Bombinhas with children, and perhaps the best place in Bombinhas overall. Some of the other hotels didn´t look so nice and many of the pousadas require a walk to the beach and crossing the main street of town, which was congested with cars and motorbikes. The Vila do Farol was definitely the prettiest hotel, too, with lovely greenery and colorful buildings. We were a bit disappointed with the restaurant options in Bombinhas center, too (we like really good quality dining when we travel), so we were glad the hotel had a good restaurant. The restaurant food was very good, but also a bit pricey. We had some of our favorite meals delivered to our patio (only ground floor rooms have a patio, no balconies on level 2). The shrimp in the pineapple was delish!
Have fun!

Room tip: Ground level has patios- no balconies on level 2!

This is a great property, quite densely built but immaculately clean and right on the beach, with a nice pool and caipirinhas shoved everywhere.

Best place to stay with kids in Bombinhas, has activities center, playground and monitors, layout is safe except for the pool area.

The feeling of the place is somewhat plastic and antiseptic, but fulfills its purpose perfectly for a nice sun-drenched beach vacation.

Has sound-proof windows and solid blackouts if you want to sleep through it as well. Rooms look like their exclusive furnisher was Wal Mart, but everything is newish and functional.

Staff is friendly and responsive. Food is Okish from the buffet, much better is ordered (and paid for) a la carte.

A spa was under construction, might be good idea to have a heated pool for off-season holidays, this region is not warm enough April to Oct.
