“Fantastic trip - can't wait to do it again!”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Bula!

We stayed at the Hilton for 6 nights in March, apparently it is the wettest month and also cyclone season - but that did not dampen our stay (excuse the pun)! The staff were beautiful and friendly, the hotel room was very comfortable, especially the deep soaking bath tub and the Peter Thomas Roth toiletries/products were exquisite! Always clean, which is important for me. When I wasn't at the spa, I felt like I was still being pampered in my very room! Exactly what a holiday should be. The L'Epicier has (hands down) the best pizza I have ever tasted - and this is coming from a Melbournian. Must have been all the natural produce or the sea air or simply talented staff (or all the above).

I know a few people have noted the distance of the rooms to the main areas (pools, reception, restaurant), but there was always a hotel buggy around the corner and you always had the option of ordering one from reception. In fact, we quite enjoyed the walk, it forced us to slow down and smell the roses a bit. There was always some activity or entertainment which kept us occupied in the evening and also it was a short $14 taxi ride into town for some souvenir shopping and a local meal (local fish and chips/fish curry at Jacks cafe - rear of Jacks handicraft stall - was amazing!). And a $7 taxi ride or short walk to other hotels in Denarau Island if you wanted to try a different restaurant or even swimming pool! Although we were quite content with the Hilton and enjoyed the amenities offered there. Don't forget to check out at least one of the surrounding islands from the marina close by!

There is an activities stall - which if I wasn't there to just laze by the pool and drink Vonu beer or the cocktail of the day I would have definitely checked out. The spa was truly a wonderful experience, I highly recommend the express spa by pool side, if you aren't into long 2 hour massages, the 30 minute express ones were as rejuvenating and plus you are outdoors enjoying the beautiful weather with the sound of the ocean - bliss!

We miss everyone we met there - Marika who kept us entertained, Gabby at the activities/booking counter, the beautiful ladies at the spa and everyone else who we met on our trip. We look forward to returning soon!

Room Tip: If you want to relax I would suggest to request a room a bit away from the pool as it can get a bit...

I cant say enough about this place. The villas were spacious and had an excellent view of the beach. The room was cleaned pretty late - but only once in the 5 days that we were there was that an issue.
The food was exceptional. We ate dinner and one dim sum lunch at the restaurants there, both of them had high quality food, which came out relatively quickly. It was worth paying for breakfast every morning (8am-11am), with a huge buffet selection at the Nuku restaurant which changed slightly every day. The chefs were accommodating to cook up a fried / poached egg if you did not want the scrambled egg. The adults only breakfast at Maravu was a nice touch when you didnt want to be surrounded by children (who at the time of our stay were not a problem).
We arrived fairly early the first day (before 3pm check in time) and left early on our last day, and although we had paid for breakfast everyday - leaving early on the last day we would have missed it. When we asked about having breakfast on the day we arrived before check in as we couldnt use it on the last day, that was not an issue. This made us love the hotel from the first minute we were there.

The pools were crystal clear and again, the adults only side was a lovely - splash and scream free - experience. There were plenty of different activities to do there - for kids and adults - but we were disappointed that the Fiji cooking class did not take place on the time and day it was advertised. Walking down the beach to the hotel next door you could use the paddleboards / canoes for free for 30mins, which was nice.

The staff at the Hilton are so friendly, and for the first two days we could not figure out why everyone was so happy there, from the grounds people to the cleaning ladies to the resort customer service staff, everyone greeted you with a "BULA" (Boo-Lah) and a large smile. We found out late on the 2nd day that not only is it a greeting, but also means a blessing of health and happiness and everlasting smile. this changed completely how we said Bula from then on.

Initially I thought that no free wifi in the rooms was a bit of a let down - but not having to check your phone every 10 mins while you were in the room was actually nice. There is free wifi down by the pool.

When I come back to Fiji I will be staying with the Hilton again, and I hope my experience is exactly the same. Thank you to everyone there.

Room Tip: All the Villas have beach front views. Some are a long walk from reception & pool & restaur...

We have come to Fiji for the past 5 years. We have a 7 and 5 year old. We originally stayed at Radisson resort. The Radiason has lovely atmosphere at night, great swim up pool bar. It is very busy during school holidays. The views of the pool are lovely but doesn't really feel like a beach holiday. We then moved to the Hilton, which is more expensive but worth it. The whole resort feels more spacious, the staff are very friendly and the rooms are modern. Most have amazing views of the beach and the infinity pool is fantastic. We have now stayed at Hilton 5 times.

Accommodation: The rooms are modern and clean. Most have views of the beach with amazing sunsets. We paid a premium to stay in the Deluxe Beach Front Villa which has a private plunge pool which is shared with the adjoining guests room. We were staying with family next door so expected the plunge pool to ourselves but found out that room owners above can also use the plunge pool. This was a little disappointing as it was not explained to us at the time of booking and it a little misleading. As Hilton Silver members we are entitled to free turn down service and water- this was inconsistently offered. Also, our room was cleaned quite late in the day (5-8pm). Once I made a soft complaint they changed this to earlier time.

Food
Fantastic! They catered nicely for my sons serious food allergies - I met with the new Food and beverage manager and explained his allergies and they made a special menu for him. Valentine is a big asset to the resort! He has also introduced music to the pool area which is fantastic. The resort could do with a few more changes to make it more lively - more night events perhaps? We also had a private dinner on the beach which was amazing! The staff were fantastic in setting this up (see pics). The cocktails were good but have declined somewhat in presentation. Half the fun of a cocktail is getting a pretty glass! Breakfast is busy but the food is great. Getting breakfast included is worth it if you are a big eater! Adults only breakfast in Maravu is serene and worthwhile! Meals arrive 40-50 minute- Fiji time. Expect a little longer with room service. Some of our meal orders mucked up but overall great. The Pastry Chef at the Bakery was phenomenal! He made an allergy friendly birthday cake that knocked our socks off! Amazing!!

Front Office/Reservation
The biggest disappointment was the reservation team and front office. We paid for our entire family to come to the resort (5 rooms) and explained each family were to pay for their own food and to bill to their room accordingly. The amount of mistakes on the bill were alarming. We spend most of our last day correcting it. I don't understand why it was so hard separating room charges with food charges? Very unsophisticated billing system or just incompetent staff we were dealing with. Each time they told it was correct we found further errors. Then they made us feel like we were an inconvenience raising the errors.

Furthermore we get a late check out being Hilton silver members- we called and they said all rooms unavailable. They then allowed us to check out 1 hour later for some of the rooms after I shared my disappointment. The day after as we were packing we found that they had locked all our rooms at 10.55am. No late check out had been noted. So we had to waste more time getting new keys to get out luggage out. Furthermore the time at reception computer is a good 5-10 minutes different to standardised time?!

Kids Club
The kids club is fantastic- spacious, air conditioned and the staff lovely. Big outdoor play area. The child minders are fantastic! Very affordable.

Spa
Spectacular! The detox massage is fantastic.

Overall this is a fantastic resort- We have spent a lot of money here but are unsure if we will return based on the apathy of the reservation team.

I give the Resort a 5 but the reservation team a 1.

Bula Flecca,
Thank you very much for being so loyal to the Hilton when holidaying in Fiji. It was great to read that you and your party have had a very enjoyable time with us. However, I have also noted your feedback on the very unfortunate shortfalls that you have experienced and would like to apologize for the inconvenience they have created. Your feedback was of course shared with the team, so that the necessary steps are taken to avoid any re-occurrence.
I was of course glad that you could get a cake and other items according to dietary requirements. We indeed have a range of items on our menus that are gluten and/or lactose free, as well as gluten free bread and muffins at breakfast and at the Deli.
I do hope that we will be able to welcome you back for a 6th stay that we will endeavour to make seamless.
Vinaka.

Fantastic resort for families. The 2 bedroom villas are perfect with great facilities and space to relax. Pools are great, with plenty of room around them. But the best aspect is the staff. Their friendly nature and activities done on the beach and around the pool were loved by kids of all ages.

Ideally located if you are thinking of a few day trips to islands, as the harbour is only a short ten minute walk away. We had requested a room close to the action as this is a big resort and we got it! No dramas ! Nothing was a problem the staff were really friendly and nice, even though it was pretty busy. It was not noisy for us close in to the restaurants and pool, as previous reviewers have said, and I was a little worried about. The breakfasts were amazing, as was the food at the restaurants. The prices at the resturants were about the same as the resturants at the boat harbour, and the food was so much better!
The scenery is beautiful from the beach and you can use the beach if you want to, no waves though. Pool area is where most hang out though, I guess the darker sand puts people off but it's not bad! We went kayaking across the front of the resort and although the water is not crystal clear like around the islands we still saw a few small fish and it was fun. Also, arranged to go paragliding and this was great too. Watching the sun sets from happy hour at the beachfront bar was a highlight. I wish I had taken my children here when they were younger as the kids club looked amazing.
I guess it's not the true Fiji that people and locals talk about, but as far as a resort on the beach goes it was great. No problems with safety as security is pretty good. Gardens beautiful too! I didn't want to leave!

Room Tip: If you have mobility issues ask for a room close to pools and restaurants as it is a few minutes wal...

The Staff were very friendly and helpful. The adults only pool area meant there was always somewhere quiet and relaxing to go. Most days the Resort hosted activities, which ranged from beach walks to participating in a traditional Fijian Kava drinking ceremony!

Gorgeous hotel about 20 minutes from Nadi airport. Staff were very friendly and always ready to help. Rooms are very modern and spacious, we were lucky enough to have a ground floor sea view, which is definitely recommended! Breakfast was included with our stay and had a wide selection, most days we grabbed a sandwich or pizza from the café for lunch which was reasonably priced. We didn't eat in the restaurant on site as it was quite pricey and it was nice to go down to the marina (short ride in a taxi) where there was a selection of different restaurants, the best was the Fijian.

Great place for pure relaxation, the resort is very calm and quite perfect for a couples getaway!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view - you won't be disappointed!

Thank you very much for choosing Hilton for your ‘couple getaway’ in Fiji.
I am of course glad that you found the room to your liking, and that the gourmet, made-to-order pizzas, sandwiches and salads from the Deli met your requirements. Above all, your comment about the team and their hospitality was the highlight of your review, and was indeed appreciated when shared here.
