The shangri-la is absolutely amazing. We did not have a bad meal. Staff where excellent. Having 3 pools and the beach right next to resort is great when there is alot of kids around adults only is recommended. Also we got married at the shangri-la amazing chapel and wedding coordinator. Only downfall is the walking this place is massive but we'll worth it!

A good friend recommended the Shangri La as a fun family holiday. The location, amenities and creature comforts were fine, but what made a good trip great was the friendly staff that went to extra efforts to make our stay special. We booked the fire dancing dinner and fire walking show through Mun. When he learned our family of four were vegetarian he consulted with Chef Mohummad Asif who prepared a sensational vegetarian banquet for our table at no extra cost! We were also grateful for the fresh coconuts brought to our doorstep and macheted open by Gardener Aklesh. Our room attendant Loselini and her cousin surprised our children daily with antics performed by the children’s bed toys: We would arrive back at our room to discover the toys reading books and watching TV. A big surprise was the under-booked Nature Walk. My daughter and I shared a tour of the Shangri La’s voluptuous gardens with Moses from the Marine Centre as our guide. He was very informative and his stories captured the imagination of my eight year old daughter. When we learned Moses also conducts daily reef walks we jumped at the chance and this time our family of four managed another “private” tour. Using glass bottomed boxes my four-year-old discovered corals, Nemo fish and see urchins. These tours are under-marketed at the Resort but certainly were highlights of our week. The sundown visit by the local village was extra-special; the women, children and guitarist sang beautifully. I will never forget the joy in the voices and on their faces. Lizzy Pizzy and Quinny from the Sigatoka River Safari booking service at the Shangri La resort were delightful. We had prebooked our tour in Australia, yet they took great interest in having my daughter visit their premises and share her passion for Harry Potter stories. We had heard good feedback about the Safari, but the day exceeded our expectations. Our Captain, Lepani was very deft at the helm, treating us to some swift 360-spins and excellent commentary. Every man, woman and child waved as we zoomed by. The visit to the village was wonderful. After the Kava welcome ceremony we were treated to a banquet in the village hall. The women had clearly spent a lot of time preparing the abundant food and the hall was decorated with fresh cut flowers. Having the leis presented and to share a dance was an honour. I especially loved it when the villagers broke into song – the men on their guitars and the boys on their ukuleles.
Vinaka.

Room Tip: Families - Book a Lagoon Family Room on ground floor. 2 single beds separated by curtain from adult's bed. Close to playground, pool, beach activities and restaurants.

Overall a very pleasant stay, only issue was food and beverage cost being too high, given the food in most restaurants being on average level was not worth the cost, on the other hand golden Cowrie was very nice alacarte food which was worth it but wished they had kids menu and also give you more chips when paying $10 for a very small bowl of chips!

We came for a stay with family and grandchildren 9,10,11yrs. The 3 children had a wonderful time and have never spent as much time in the pool and beach as they did this time. They just loved it! The grounds are just beautiful, the beach was just lovely, water so warm, an idyllic setting. As all other people say, the breakfast buffet was great and plenty of choice. We were on a kids eat free, and disappointed to find that this only applied in the buffet restaurant, which is not the way we like to eat, however on this occasion we did. The lunch buffet was limited and very ordinary, salads and desserts were nice. We tried the restaurant by the pool, but had probably the worst salads ever, burger was ok, service unfriendly and average and didn't go back. Pizza restaurant was ok, pizzas crispy, salads great. Evenings in the buffet were hit and miss, sometimes food was ok, curries were always fantastic, roasts good. Sitting outside on the deck was the best place to be at night. Aussie red was $52 Fiji. The kids thought it was the best holiday ever because of the great activities every day down by the pool. Ace was fantastic and so much fun, his crew were also amazing and this really did make the holiday. The kids went to a disco twice at night and enjoyed it. The beds were comfortable. Rooms are ok. It really is a wonderful place to take the family, but as an older couple, not sure whether we would return, but the beach and pool were certainly the highlight

We stayed at the Shangri-La for our honeymoon in April 2014. We arrived to music and helpful, friendly staff. We stayed in a ocean view room, whilst very small was still quite nice. The shower was a bit dirty and the room got very cold with the air-conditioning turned all the way down.
We ate our first dinner at the resort. I ordered tortellini which cost around $25AUD and was shocked to see only 7 pieces of tortellini. The food was not value for money. We chose to spend most of our time and money outside the resort. We went to the buffet one night for dinner as we were too tired to go into town and paid $120AUD for the two of us.
We went deep sea fishing for 4hours through the resort and paid $600FJD which we thought was a bit pricey but we wanted to do it. They forgot our breakfast which we were told was provided so we only had a bottle of water on us. We were taking to another couple at the end of the trip who paid $600FJD for a full day private fishing and all meals, outside the resort.
We made a 10 minute phone call to Australia which cost us $200FJD.
Despite this the staff were lovely and we could not fault them. They were all very friendly and have outstanding service.
The staff at the resort are unwilling to share business and talk about things outside the resort. So a piece of advice, do your research before you leave because booking things through the resort costs twice or three times the price.
