“Sad to be home!”
Reviewed 11 August 2014 via mobile

We travelled here for 10 nights at the start of August with friends, 4 adults and 4 children ages 1 - 4. A lot of the negatives noted in previous reviews are accurate - but the impact really depends on how precious you are. We were overcharged for our last meal - but this was fixed straight away, and appeared to be more the result of dishonesty of other guests based on the receipt. The rooms were in decent condition and the resort was able to accommodate our request in terms of adjoining ground floor rooms. With small children who are fussy eaters we found ourselves largely locked in the resort in terms of meals. This was our biggest cost and gripe in terms of affordability and variety of price points for dining options. If we were more mobile we would have definitely taken advantage of off-resort options. That said, food variety was decent in the buffet, good quality and our only real expense. The grounds are beautiful, the staff are wonderful (getting more smiles from our surly baby than his own extended family!) and the nanny service/kids club gave the adults a taste of freedom at an unbelievably low cost. We always paid more than we had to in appreciation of this service. I loved this holiday, i suspect we will return!
If you do choose to holiday here, expect lots of kids and don't be a princess. It's all about the attitude you bring!

I have been lucky enough to go to this resort twice and it has seemed that both times I had a wonderful time. The front block of rooms are better than the upgrades as there is a quicker walk to all the places. Great view of the beach as well. The pool in Summer can get quite hot so the beach water is more refreshing. The free kayaking and paddle-boarding is available to anyone. This hotel has amazing coral so bring snorkelling gear. Overall I liked this resort.

The bula bula welcome as you enter the resort is incredible.
The reception is under staffed and always requires a long wait.
The staff always said bula but they were so overworked they had little time to be genuinely friendly.

The room we had was one of the furthest rooms away. We paid extra for an ocean view room and regretted this decision. Although the view was lovely we were a 20 minute walk from the main swimming, kayaking and bar area.
The room itself was lovely but the mattress was the worst I have ever had. Including ones we have used in much cheaper accommodation.
The mattress had two body shaped valleys where the spring had totally gone and a hill in the middle.
We woke in pain the next day. It took over 6 phone calls to get anything done. We finally had the mattress replaced. The new one also had distinct body impressions but had enough springs to sleep reasonably.

The linen was lovely and the toiletries fantastic.

The resort advertises wifi but wifi is only available in some public areas. Our nearest bar had wifi available sometimes within 3 metres of the router if you have an apple device.
Even the lobby had patchy wifi. The Bilo bar was the only place with good wifi. Yet it was a 20 minute walk.

The massage I had was very ordinary for an extraordinary price.

Food.
Breakfast was free and fantastic.
Pizza was ok. Cost 35 to 40ish fijian for a medium sized pizza.
The Lagoon buffet for dinner was nice but a room full of screaming children really ruined the mood. Cost 170 fijian for 2 adults kids eat free. Definitely not worth it.

The pan asian food in the Takali restaurant was lovely and the atmosphere great. 120 for a family of 4 or 170 on buffet night. Thought it was ok value.
The polynesian night was great and worth every cent. It was $300 for a family of 4. It was worth every cent.
It was a highlight of our trip.

The snorkelling trip was fantastic ( $50 adult $30 kids) but I feel they should have discussed it and let people know it was a drift snorkel with a strong current. They didn't even ask if our kids could swim.
Everyone else besides our family and one other person did not complete the snorkel and went back to the boat.

The transfers organised by the hotel were on time, clean and only $135 each way. Much cheaper then we were quoted at local travel agents. Great value and service.

A lovely touch was a mini breakfast spread for early leavers on the last day.

I couldn't recommend anyone going and staying in our room . The walk was so long you couldn't just duck back to your room. This is something I require at a resort.
If you had a central room, don't mind no support in a mattress or get a new one, don't need wifi, didn't get my massage lady and love screaming kids this may be the resort for you.
Next time we go to fiji we will prefer a resort that was less child friendly. Our kids are out of the toddler stage and we found it stressful to have screaming babies wake us up every morning and ruin dinner. Parents found it acceptable to let their babies scream for an hour over dinner without taking them for a walk. Not my idea of a holiday.
The only meal we had without screaming babies and toddlers was the asian dinner.

I have to say at first I wasn't over impressed but the hotel grew on me, the beach and the reef are absolutely fantastic, second to none, great facilities, good rooms with fantastic views, very relaxing. If you are a couple do not get the inclusive package as the food is crap, go to the restaurants outside the hotel, if you are with kids it is important to do the inclusive as it will be expensive otherwise. We really enjoyed our time at this beautiful picturesque place.

Room Tip: definitely the ocean view rooms are the best

What a place - ideal location, outstanding staff and a haven for families of all ages. A great place for family groups from grand parents to babies - the Fijian child minding and baby sitting options looked amazing.
The snorkeling straight off the beautiful beaches is great with clear water and lots of fish. Activities are arranged daily and while all of this makes time fly, it is the attitude, smile and cheekiness of the Fijians that make this a must place to holiday.

The resort is attractive and our Deluxe Oceanfront Room beautifully situated. However, the resort food is sub-standard and expensive and options are extremely limited for obtaining food outside the resort. Alcohol is also very expensive. We recommend the Village (and school) Tour and the Polynesian Show. Be prepared to fight for a banana lounge on the beach!
