“No air-con!!!!!”
Reviewed 30 January 2013

This was an overnight stay on our way south and the day was dreadfully hot. There was no aircon in the room and fans were unavailable. Our sleep was terrible and we would not go back. The only good thing we found in Twizel was Poppy's cafe just over the road. Our room was clean and the hotel quite attractive but if we had not pre-booked we would have left!

We stayed at this hotel for one whilst in transit, the staff were friendly enough but the rooms can only be described as very poor. Both the bedroom the bathroom were very overdue for renovation and were slightly grubby. We didn't venture into the dining room as dinner was a buffet and the thought of fighting it out with coach loads of tourists did not appeal. I would stay again but only if desperate as it was the worst hotel I have stayed in New Zealand.

Stayed overnight on our trip from Christchurch to Queenstown. Hotel is quite shabby and oldfashioned, but maybe because of that has some kind of strange charm? Room was spacious, bed and shower were ok, so was the breakfast, yet quite expensive.
Because of the location there is lots of big groups staying at the hotel and they can be very noisy. Some of the group were having a party room next to mine, so I couldn`t sleep until 1am. I guess they finally heard me banging my fist against the wall and stopped! The problem is that there is no night shift at the reception, so you can only complain about it afterwards. At least the receptionist was very friendly and sorry about all that.
After all, place was ok, but highly overpriced.

Stayed 1 night in this hotel in a group tour. The room was rather old with dirty carpets. However, the 2 queen size beds were rather comfortable. TV channels were rather limited and local. Breakfast was acceptable. There was no free WiFi but charges were rather reasonable at NZ$4 for 1 hour and NZ$5 for 1 day. There was no fan nor aircon in the room and with our room being on the ground floor, we were concerned about opening the glass door for fresh air. The room's hot water supply was for 30 minutes only. After that, the heater in each room would have to take 3 hours to heat up the water supply. There was no housekeeping in the hotel in the evening. When I requested for a plastic tub mat, I had to collect it personally from the front desk. At the restaurant where we had dinner, the waiter spilled some fruit syrup onto my mom's jacket. There was no cleaning by housekeeping as they were off duty already. The waiter also kept saying it was a small area near the button etc., without an apology.

if you expect value for money. Room although spacious is very dated. Needs refurbishment as in yesterday! Old food was left in the fridge. The biggest disappointment was being forced to find an alternative place to eat after a disasterous evening at the Inn's restaurant. We made a booking at the restaurant for 7:30, arrived on time, ordered a 500g rump steak medium to rare which arrived 50 minutes later way undersized (no more than 300g) and overdone. The mushroom risotto arrived 5 minutes later and was totally gross! Tasted off and weird! It was mushy and clearly not fresh! The waitress was really good, apolized and we did not pay for the food. The supervisor however had a real attitude about it and did not even attempt to apolize.

We stayed for one night and the property is well maintained. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Since we were on a motorcycle ride, they helped us book a helicopter ride in Glentanner park instead of Twizel.

a good place to stay overnight on South Island. room was clean with a comfortable bed. weather was awful and we could not get up to Mount Cook as it was snowing - the main reason for going to Twizel. Very little alternative things to do in Twizel and hotel has limited facilities
