Stayed here one night on a bus tour. Have posted a picture of the chair in our room which looks like it was picked up off the street - stained and threadbare. Our ground level room had a narrow spider-webbed patio facing a grassy area with no outdoor seating. Shampoo provided in one-use sized sample packet. No peep hole, security lock or safe. I think we were in room 32 - miles away from reception! We paid for wifi but had to leave the room to get a strong enough signal.

Turned up about 7:00pm to be told they had 'overbooked' ( how that happens with a computer booking system is beyond me). They had booked us into a local motel and offered us free buffet dinner( we didn't take the dinner cos we were so angry we had no intention of going anywhere near the place). If they had given us a call as soon as they descovered they had 'overbooked' we could have gone somewhere else, but no, just wait till we turned up tired after a long drive and tell us then. I would recommend staying somewhere else.

My rating for the room is 3 star.
Cars parked immediately outside window with no nets for privacy.
Had to draw heavy curtains and turn on lights.
No safe. No air conditioning. One bin only.
Wifi five dollars for one hour.
Only thirty minutes supply of hot water then wait three hours for more.
This is a no smoking hotel. Ashtray outside window!
Evening buffet quite good.

We stayed in Twizel in February and were unimpressed with our room. It was very basic but it was clean, and there are fabulous views of the mountains in the distance. Unfortunately the room looked out onto the carpark which was noisy during the night with people coming and going. The staff were very friendly and the manager was very attentive and asked for feedback. The bar prices were very expensive, I think they take advantage of the fact that there is nowhere else to go. The evening buffet was good, as was the breakfast.

Big rooms with all amenities. great balcony and quiet surroundings. Good place to stay, all we needed was there. Dinner was in buffet style but a la carte was also possible. Reception was efficient and straightforward. This was value for money I guess. Good place when passing to the south.

This is a stunning hotel. The rooms are very big with big beds and leather reclining chairs. Rooms at the back have views over the garden. Sliding doors onto balcony could be left open all night. No a/c, only heating. It looks like you are stuck in the middle of nowhere but in fact the village centre is only 15 min stroll away. Follow signs to town centre and you will eventually see off to the left a supermarket. Opposite the supermarket is an EXCELLENT pub/bottle shop/liquor store with cheap 'pub' food. I had chicken tenders & fries for $9NZ but bigger meals are available. Hotel food is excellent too but more expensive. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Stayed here one night when travelling from Christchurch down through to Queenstown. A comfortable bed for a night, in need of a upgrade but considering its a small country town was good enough for what we wanted it for. No aircon and a small electric heater. Would have been good to have a build in aircon/ heater. Would stay here again though!
