“GREAT B&B”
Reviewed 31 March 2013

We spent one night at this lovely B&B which was purposely built when the present owners extended the original homestead quite a few years ago. Ann and Blyth are great hosts and we enjoyed our stay in their delightful home.

We opted to eat out at the original Cardrona Hotel as we had been eating far too much on our drive around the South Island, but the two other couples who were staying at Waiorau at the same time as us, had one of Ann's delicious dinners which we heard about next morning. If you do stay at Waiorau, make sure you have very little to eat on the day of your arrival so that you can enjoy Ann and Blyth's wonderful hospitality.

Our room, the Kahurangi Room was very comfortable and it had a lovely terrace where we could sit and read. There is also a separate lounge with a huge TV and DVD's for the guests as well as a dining room. It is a very comfortable "home away from home".

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely but our room - the Kahurangi - was supposed to be the best

We recently stayed two nights at the Waiorau Homestead on a recommendation from a trusted source. Apart from the slight difficulty in locating the B&B, everything about the experience was fantastic. Ann & Blyth are gregarious hosts and provided some of the best hospitality we experienced during our trip to New Zealand. The property is beautiful and secluded; the rooms are well-furnished and beds comfortable; the breakfasts are delicious. Take Ann & Blyth up on their offer to cook you dinner. The meal was one of the highlights of our stay. If we ever make it back to New Zealand, we will definitely return to Wairoau.

If you want an intimate and stylish place to stay, this is the right place! We had a homecooked breakfast each morning that exceeded our expectations! The place had plenty of nice areas to tuck yourself away into and the views were stunning.

Wow, what an amazing B&B, 2 couples from WA experienced 3 days of luxury from Ann & Blyth our gracious hosts. Scrumptious breakfasts, luxurious bedrooms, beautiful home & stunning views from the homestead. Ann & Blyth have a fountain of knowledge on the Wanaka region which helped us make decisions on excursions. We had a lot of laughs with our hosts, and were made to feel so at home, thanks for your superb hospitality Ann & Blyth (not forgetting our 4 legged friends the beagles). Definitely return, highly recommend this property to everyone.

After an amazing review from our friends who visited the Waiorau Homestead last year, we did not hesitate making a booking during our honeymoon in NZ. Ann and Blyth were such great hosts - from their warm hospitality to their delicious food, I couldn't say enough good things about this lovely couple! The entire property is so well-maintained, spotless and beautifully decorated. We absolutely loved our Harkeke Room which came with a luxurious private bathroom, fully equipped with a spa bath and great toiletries!

Blyth is also a very talented chef - we got to experience his cooking at the Cardrona Hotel as well as at the homestead one night, where he hosted a tasty barbecue! At the same time, Ann was always ready to share handy tips and recommendations which also led us to the Backcountry Saddle Expeditions - one of our most memorable experiences throughout our honeymoon. We are definitely returning here soon and we highly recommend this property to everyone!

Together with our bridal party of 8, my husband and I had exclusive use of the property over two nights and absolutely adored our time here. We hosted a wedding of 90 guests, together with marquee hire, external caterers, photographers etc and Anne and Blyth were extremely accommodating in helping pull everything together. Even towards the end of our wedding night Anne and Blyth were outside busy lighting dozens of tealight candles dotted all around the gardens. Just gorgeous. Little touches such as these, as well as their delicious cooked breakfasts, beautifully manicured grounds, relaxing spa under the vines and extremely comfortable plush bedrooms made our stay just perfect. Thanks Anne and Blyth, we will be sure to return again as soon as we can!

Hi Perth based Kiwis - it was an absolute pleasure to be involved with the planning and hosting of your fabulous wedding and thank you for choosing to have it at Waiorau Homestead. Everything went so well - you made a beautiful couple and the organisation and set-up of the entire event was a credit to you both.
Have a great year and we very much look forward to seeing you back in Wanaka when you come to set up home.
Kindest regards, Ann & Blyth.

We have stayed at Waiorau Homestead on three occasions now. We love going to Central Otago and Waiorau Homestead is perfect as our home away from home. It is centrally located for sightseeing excursions and visits to local wineries, golf courses, historic places and other attractions. Ann and Blyth are wonderful hosts – extremely friendly, helpful and informative. The rooms and guest areas are beautifully decorated and are very comfortable and relaxing after a long day. The breakfasts are the best we've had at any B&B and the dinners are even better. On a previous trip we made use of the outside fire one night and I have to say it was magic having a quiet nightcap on a beautiful, clear, alpine evening. I highly recommend Waiorau Homestead, you definitely won't be disappointed.
