“Welcoming hosts.”
Reviewed 14 April 2013

A lovely little B & B in Wanaka. The hosts were very friendly and Helens baking was gorgeous! The room was cosy and snug and exceptionally clean. Would have liked it a bit bigger to make it more comfortable. Facilities were good. Tea & coffee making. fridge, flat screen tv. The bathroom had all the right facilities but again a bit on the small side. The breakfasts were excellent. and plenty to pick from. Fruit juices/ cereal/ home made muesli/ toast and home made preserves/yogurts/and cooked breakfast if wanted. Helen goes out of the way to make you feel welcome and giving lots of advice as to where to go. You must try the Paradiso cinema in Wanaka - it's brilliant! Would recommend anyone to come here.

Really nice place to stay. Very comfortable room, lovely host in Helen (didn't see Wayne very much) and great breakfasts. Helen was very helpful with local information and loved a chat. All in all, a very pleasant experience!!!

We loved our stay in Wanaka, it's a great little town right by the edge of a beautiful lake with some lovely walks in the area. We booked the Provence Room at the D'Lavande for two nights. The room was light and airy, and very clean with an extremely comfortable bed. Helen and Wayne go out of their way to make your stay a comfortable one and were always on hand to offer advice/help if you needed it. On arrival, Helen welcomed us in and offered us a nice cool drink out on the sunny patio in the garden (which has great views of the lake). The Provence Room had its own private entrance which is great if you want privacy, however, the breakfasts are taken in the main part of the house in the open plan kitchen/dining room. So whilst Helen is busy cooking your breakfast, you can meet other guests to chat about your travels around NZ and the places you've visited or are yet to visit. We found this really nice and very friendly/sociable. Helen goes out of her way to make your stay enjoyable, providing 'little extras' like home made cakes and good quality toiletries in your room. If we ever go back to NZ we would definately have the D'lavande on our list of places to stay!!

We had a great welcome here with cool lemonade on the veranda. Helen makes terrific breakfasts, very fresh and tasy. She also offers lots of helpful advice, both locally and further afield. We were comfortable and very well looked after and would happily go back on another visit. Good wifi was another plus!

Helen and Wayne run a, welcoming, relaxing and efficient B&B with great views of the mountains, delicious food and a lovely garden. It was a good example of their attention to detail when they made me a tasty GF slice. We would happily go back to D'Lavande anytime. Cathie and Gerard.

Helen is very friendly and makes a great breakfast. She's a great gardener with wonderful views however we were told very quickly we weren't allowed to enjoy them as the main rooms were her living quarters. This may not have taken us aback if we hadn't had such different experiences at every B&B we stayed at previously in New Zealand. The rooms didn't have views and were dark since the windows were right next to a large fence however they were very clean and comfortable.

However if privacy is your thing this place is excellent! You have your own entrance and the rooms have everything you could possible need.

We spent 2 nights here and loved everything about it! The welcome from Helen and Wayne was great, the room was beautiful and also comfortable. Even the wifi connection was good!
As others have said, Helen's breakfasts were delicious. Helen and Wayne had some excellent suggestions for activities in Wanaka and onward plans. Wanaka is a beautiful place and we should love to come back.
