We were going to stay the night at Wanaka at one of the caravan parks available and just by chance thought we would have a look at Glendhu Bay just a short 10 min drive away.We loved it as it is old style, with very reasonable rates and friendly managers. The views of surrounding areas were outstanding. Definately on our revisit list when we go back to New Zealand

The cabins were small and unmaintained... not worth the money and the woman who was at the checkin was abrubt and uninviting - should have in advertising that office doesnt open til 4. Stunning location but the kitchen was under developed with nothing to cook with and so it was not a great place to stay. Would not recommend at all.

Thank you for taking the time to review Glendhu Bay. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations with regards to our basic cabins. We believe that we offer clean, affordable accommodation and we hear time and time again from guests, that they believe we have achieved this. At $20 per person per night, our cabins are basic but comfortable, and all facilities are always impeccably clean. As we are a very old camping ground (established in 1938), we cannot compete with camps with newer facilities, but we believe we have the best location - something you can not put a price on.

We were camping and had a great time. Lovely big outdoor stone cookers. Kitchen could do with an update and was a bit scared walking around the back of the building to the womans toilets And showers. But otherwise a good stay. Would happily camp here again :) would be good to have on the website that the office opens at 4. As we turned up for check in at 2 and weren't too sure where to pitch the tent. Nice staff :)

Thank you for taking the time to review Glendhu Bay Holiday Park. We agree that we have the most stunning, gorgeous location and we are glad you appreciated it too! We apologise that the office was not open when you arrived to check in. At certain times of the year, our staffing level does not allow us enough hours to clean, do maintenance and look after the park in general, so we sometimes reduce the opening hours of the office. We are always contactable by either intercom or cellphone, and can generally be found working around the main block of the camp. We look forward to welcoming you back to Glendhu Bay in the future.

Gorgeous location - very good caravan park. Very nice spots along the lake. Big kitchen with fridge, stove etc. Only 10 minutes from town. The best place to stay in the Wanaka region. Walking tracks all around. Mt Aspiring NP 50 minutes away.

We appreciate your feedback on Glendhu Bay Holiday Park and we are so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. We cannot disagree that we have the best location in the Wanaka area - the lake views at any time of the year are just stunning. We hope you will come back and visit us one day in the future.

This place was shabby and cabins very small. The shared kitchen although a large area wasn't very inviting, the majority of the stoves not working at all. There were no kitchen utensils for guests' use. I had to ask the woman at reception for a pot/pan and cooking utensils so we could cook up the food which we had brought with us.
Be aware that they ask $1 coin for hot showers, although they were hot. The women's bathroom was at the back of the building which wasn't very pleasant in the middle of a dark night. The woman in reception was pleasant enough.

Room Tip: We only stayed in the one cabin so can't comment on this section.
