Stayed at holly's twice and both times really enjoyed my stay. The location is great and wanaka is a real natural highlight. Hiking, kayaking or just relaxing at the beach. Holly's is perfectly located just a few minutes from the Main Street and lake shore. The rooms are nice and clean. The hostel offers a very family like ambience when watching a movie or enjoying a BBQ in the sun. And last but not least the host Bill... might be a little sarcastic but he is a grear guy. Great place to be.

We planned to stay here only one night (in a double) but then decided to stay one night longer. However they were fully booked on paper, the staff were really friendly and somehow fit us into a quad-share. The rooms were spacious and clean, so as the kitchen and the lounge area. We were very happy with that. The only drawback was that the lounge area was a bit close to the rooms and as the doors (and maybe the walls also) seemed paper thin, you may be disturbed by the noise while trying to sleep.

The city centre is in walking distance and free parking is there at Holly's.

I stayed two nights here initially, then returned for another couple of nights after a trip to Queenstown as I liked the place (and the area) so much. The atmosphere in the place was lovely, laidback and easy to get chatting to others in the hostel.

The staff are really friendly and helpful too, and made it really easy to check-in (even though I arrived a half-hour after the office should have technically been closed the first day) and to arrange activities in the area on request.

We had a night here in Wakaka. Twin room in basement of the house. The room wasnt that great as far as atmosphere but we didnt spend heaps of time in our room anyway. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was ok, got a bit tight once you got a couple people in it. Nice back deck and lounge area. Lots of young people staying there.

We had a night here in Wanaka. Our private room was comfortable and the facilities were good. Best of all, was the laid back atmosphere, which did suit this very chilled-out town. On arrival, we were given a note that told us our key was in a tupperware and to help ourselves. Check out was just as easy - just toss the key back into the office!

I stayed there for only one night because the hostel was fully booked for the next day but I would have stayed longer if possible. The staff is really friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and spacious enough and the beds are comfortable. I think there are only three bathrooms for the whole hostel but I guess it's enough since I didn't have to wait very long to have a shower. The bathroom was surprisingly clean knowing the number of people who had used it that night. The place is a bit noisy in the evening but it settles later at night. The hostel is well situated, close enough to all the restaurants and the lake (Wanaka is not a huge anyway). So all in all a very nice stay, I would definitely stay there again.

Holly's backpackers is a snug lodge two streets from the center of town.

Everyone was friendly and there was a strong chilled and laid back culture.
The family running the lodge were very friendly and helpful. On days when we weren't skiing they advised us on different activities near the town.
The place was clean and nothing was stolen from anyone while we were there. People felt comfortable casually leaving there phones and laptops out without concern.
Average age was from 20-35.

Cons -no free internet

Nonetheless I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there
