We bought this accommodation on Wotif, and got a great, secret hotel deal. Our accommodation was a one bedroom apartment with separate lounge, dining area, kitchen and outdoor small courtyard. We had a ground floor apartment on the end of the block which had stunning views of the beautifully kept lawns leading down to the lake. the best part of the room was a day bed corner seat beside the corner window where we could catch the sun, without the cold air. The rooms are a little dated, but all facilities were perfectly clean and in excellent order. The grounds and landscaping are stunning and we wish we had longer to enjoy the beautiful position. We will definitely return when we next stay in Wanaka.

Room Tip: ask for an end , ground floor room.

Stunning views, a real open fire, friendly staff, and the best kept secret. .. freshly baked to order served with clotted cream and jam.
Twinnings Earl Grey too but the only spoiler the terrible shortbread in the saucer. Suspect a packet mix.
I rated three stars as place is very very dated although clean.
Will certainly visit again.

Thanks for taking the time to write this review. We're pleased you enjoyed so many of our aspects, including the baked-to-order scones. Sorry however our shortbread didn't meet up to your expectation.

We look forward to seeing you again.

We absolutely loved this place. After contemplating other properties, this one, positioned right by the lakeside was recommended to us by locals and it only took a moment to decide when we saw it.
The apartment we took was on the ground floor with a huge living area with large floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the beautifully kept sprawling green lawn that leads down to a walking path that takes you all the way into town (about 10 min) . The property is clean and modern, the bedrooms comfy with full size wardrobes and drawers for clothes.
The kitchen is modern, galley style but only a small stove hob, microwave and electric frying pan for cooking. This didn't bother us as we went out for dinner. It was perfectly fine for making breakfast with a bar fridge, toaster and kettle. The bathroom is not large with a shower over the bath, but was very clean and had a washer/drier as well. Heating in all rooms was excellent. Parking was right outside our back door. Reception has a gabled roof which makes you feel you are entering a ski lodge. The staff were all courteous and very professional and our stay overall was fabulous.
We really miss looking over those green lawns to beautiful Lake Wanaka. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a corner window(they are like a cushioned window seat...great for relaxing with a glass of vino or reading a book) . If you are wanting to cook elaborate meals, you may want to consider properties with full kitchen.

Edgewater turned out to be just what we needed on our long tour of NZ. Location, location, location is the mantra of real estate and although there were some minor issues our room (410) on the first floor with a balcony that faced the lake and received the morning sun was perfect. The main room (at least 35sqmetre, cooking facilities, 2 sofas, tv, ipod radio, corner window seat area plus a main full height patio door window/balcony had an uninterrupted view across a lawn to the waters edge where we watched many times the ducks, the odd swimmer, rowers and especially at sunset the landscape on the far side of the lake which had me thinking of the impressionists paintings of the southern med in Europe. We noted that many of the other accommodation providers that touted their lake view were positioned on the other side of the main drag road around the village, Edgewater isn't- so you have peace and quiet.
We were blessed with glorious sunny weather and needing to slow down spent a lot of time in the apartment relaxing which was fine. There are not really sights in Wanaka, you do need the good weather for any extended stay so you can do the usual NZ sporting activities- walking, cycling etc.
We had a separate bedroom with another tv and plenty of storage space. The bathroom was adequate but had the advantage of a washer drier which gave us the opportunity to do a clothes freshen up.
Not sure how old the estate is, I can imagine that when it first opened it would have received 5star reviews, it does have some signs of dating, as though the eye has been taken off the ball. As others have commented the ambience in the breakfeast room is a bit of a let down, ok food, we paid for the expresso coffees only $4, could only think the room is too small that it comes over a bit cafe like. Dont get me wrong this is minor considering your accomodation is comfortable, the tvs , furniture are up to date for eg, its overall location and ability to make you feel you are in your own lakeside apartment is what wins.
Check out the home website, we got a deal that included breakfeast, mountain bike and kayak hire all at a good rate.
Highly recommended.
