Small town, but packed with numerous fun activities for the entire family. Some of the most enjoyed activities include Eco rafting down Clutha River with Finn, Eco Wanaka trips with Chris Riley, Matukituki River Adventure Experience, Have a Shot, Puzzling World.

Wanaka always looks good, but on a crisp winters day it looks great. Lots of work has been done to sort tricky intersections and to pretty up the main drag facing the lake. Plenty of parking and plenty to do. Could be a little cleaner, as rubbish bins were full wherever I looked. Quieter than Queenstown (thank goodness) but with everything you need. A nice day was spent by all in this sweet wee town. I personally think the lake is prettier than Wakatipu.

Wanaka is like Queenstown's little cousin, but it certainly not missing anything by being smaller. Great places to eat, drink and shop. Just a great place to be (and the skiing at Cardrona just 30 minutes away is great).

The town of Wanaka is home to Lake Wanaka, subject of many aspiring and professional photographers alike.

The pros: it's relatively quiet, well-stocked (there's a boutique cinema, huge supermarket, ski/snowboard rental shops, property agents, and loads of restaurants), and in convenient proximity to ski field giants Treble Cone and Cardrona (45 mins one way to either).

The cons: it's being a tourist's town, things are somewhat more expensive here. That doesn't mean there isn't value though - a $200+ room is going to be worth it, and the $50+ room is going to be similarly worth it. If you have the option, cook at your accommodation as food, though exquisite, can be expensive.

Things to do: (i)n Spend time hunting down That Wanaka Tree (apparently west of McDougall Street) for some mandatory photo opportunities; (ii) Have a picnic (if it isn't too cold); (iii) Enjoy the serenity of a muted sunset over Lake Wanaka; and (iv) Celebrate the day with a glorious winter sunrise over the lake.

Also, drive out to Lake Hawea and Clutha River in Arrowtown just next door. Trust me.

This was the highlight of my entire New Zealand trip with my family.

It is an incredible experience not just riding the sled but also experiencing the beautiful animals and their incredible owners.

Book here - info@underdognz.co.nz
And the website- http://www.underdognz.co.nz/

The entire experience was by chance, We drove up to Snow Farm and happened across the brochure in the lobby. So I am writing it here to share the great experience.

Fleur and Curt are the couple who handle this and they are one of the most beautiful and sincere people I have met in a long time. You get to experience the huskies who are warm, loving and love the attention you give them as you ride around the track laughing at the small antics you will see the dogs get up to.
With so much personality , this is a once in a lifetime experience and we were so fortunate to be able to get in on it at the very last minute.

Do book this in advance and remember to put snow chains on your vehicle if it is not a four wheel drive as the drive up to snow farm can be slightly treacherous.

Try to do the all nighter if you have time because you will not see stars like you would see while Sleding.
