This was an impromptu stop and so worth it. We got an excellent stand-by rate and enjoyed the private, outdoor hot pools and sauna. The room was very comfortable and even had a corner spa bath!! We would definately stay here again.

The service at this hotel was second rate and left us with a bad impression of what could be a nice hotel. The cleaning service was so poor, one day leaving a spray bottle of cleaning solution and a bag of garbage in the foyer, the second day not coming at all. The lack of service infiltrates all aspects of the hotel. When we called to order room service, we were told to come up to the main desk to pick up an updated menu, as the one in our room wasn't correct. You are also charged $40 dollars for 50mB of slow internet.
Another big downside to this hotel is that it is quite a distance from the city centre and most activities/restaurants. There are quite a number of other hotels/apartments along the lake front that were in walking distance of city centre and looked much more appealing as places to stay.
On the upside, the pools were very nice!

I was visually impressed with this hotel. It is a beautifully decorated contemporary winter retreat located near the town center of Lake Wanaka. The staff at the reception desk were polite and helpful. The thin walls (I heard cell phone ring tones, my neighbors using the bathroom and full conversations) and the hard bed (it was like sleeping on a box spring) contributed to a restless night and a grumpy hotel guest in the morning. If you sleep like a rock, noise doesn't bother you and you can sleep on anything then this hotel is perfect for you!

Second time staying here in the snow season. You cant beat the warm swimming pools and the hot tubs after a day of skiing. The new lap pool however is NOT HEATED enough for the winter months which is a shame when they spent the money on this.
Great addition is the pool service for drinks-definite plus, spa facility also. The restaurant for dinner was nice - huge portions for the very hungery and very tasty. Staff were young. enthusiastic and friendly which always makes a difference. Accomodation was nice because we had an upstairs unit facing the sun for most of the day. Good location for Cardrona ski fields and not too far out of town at all. Prefer it as it is quiet. There is another place you can eat called Fe's Cafe across the road. For us we found for four nights eating at the Oakridge had enough plenty of variety. Overall a great stay and cant wait to go back next year.
