“Loved it!”
Reviewed 8 January 2013

We stayed here for three nights while in Wanaka and loved it! The staff are friendly, pools amazing, views are good although not of the town and lake which would be amazing.

Only a short trip into town and has a great day spa on site.

Rooms are large, clean and comfortable.

My wife made the booking on the basis of the facilities as she was training for an event. The lap pool was unheated and too cold to swim in, the gym equipment mostly in disrepair. In fact 100% of the bikes had something not working or broken which was unbelievable as there were about 9 bikes!
The entrance had been shut and reception moved to a back of house area by the pool which I suspect too was indicative of financial stress they were under or Body Corporate issues.
i'm sure if you are driving through the area and want just a quiet nights sleep it is probably ok.

I wish my house was as nice as the apartment we stayed in. I booked about 6 months before our trip and got a great deal on an apartment. It was supposed to be a downstairs studio apartment but somehow seemed to have ended up with a one-bedroom one with a large balcony and nice views of the mountains. The place was totally spotless, huge rooms, modern interior, full kitchen, 2 tvs, washing machine and dryer, big bathroom. The pools and jacuzzis were fabulous, complete with bar service. We didn't use the gym or eat anything there, but it's all available if you want it. I watched the sunset and sunrise from the balcony and felt completely relaxed there. It's not far from the town centre if you have a car, and if I'd had more than 1 night there, I probably would have spent a whole day just lazing around the hotel anyway. Unfortunately this hotel was right in the middle of our trip and made all the following hotels seem very ordinary in comparison!

We stayed here for two nights and loved most of our stay. We had a "guest room" which was a good size for two people. It was clean and had all the basic amenities. We loved using the pools and would definitely stay here again because of that. The only disappointment was that we didn't sleep that well. It was extremely hot while we were there and there was no air con, not even a basic fan. Also, there was no curtain over the glass door which made it very bright all night (also pointless having blackout curtains over the windows). In all we enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again.

We have stayed at Grand Mercure Oakridge Resort in Wanaka three times now as a member of the Accor Vacation Club and each time found the place to be quiet, clean and modern. We had a couple of small disappointments this time round though. There was a light bulb out in the bedroom. When I asked to have it fixed, we were told it would be looked at the next day. It wasn't. Also, I can't understand why a single sheet would be used on the double bed. The price you pay for accommodation here, you'd think you would expect better than this. The bed was also very hard.
Anyway, we found the staff to be very friendly and our time here was very enjoyable.

Room Tip: They are all good

Found it eventually, further out of town than expected, nice welcome in reception, our standard allocation was at the far end of the complex with nice views of the mountains, we found the room rather small for two people, like a previous reviewer it seemed that the bed was to big for the room layout thus obstructing access to the wardrobe which also had the fridge and tea making facilities within, in an attempt to overcome this problem, the side table had been cut in half and propped against the wall, we felt that the resort was not fully functioning, there seemed to be very few guests staying. We were informed that the restaurant was closed and a eatery next door was suggested if required, the walk into town is about 2km downhill, so consider the walk back.
Breakfast was continental only and over looking the pool area which looked very nice.
If we needed to stay in this area in future we would probably search for somewhere closer to town.
