Having stayed in mainly motels during our trip, my dad and I thought Oakridge might be the right place to indulge. Turns out, we might have done just as good (if not a little better) at a motel. Yes, the beds were comfy but the first room they gave us hadn't been cleaned yet and they almost couldn't find us another. They gave us complimentary drinks (which they tried to charge us for at check out) and the bartender was incredibly nice and let us in on some of New Zealand's best kept secrets. However, the food was terrible (nothing was actually hot at the breakfast buffet and the eggs were pretty much floating in water) and they didn't give us new towels the next day. I'm not usually a snot, but if you're paying the extra money to stay at a nice resort, you should expect exceptional service which Oakridge failed to provide.
