“Great base for a skiing holiday”
Reviewed 6 October 2010

Stayed in a one bedroom apartment with kitchen. I was really happy with this hotel. Room was a good size, furnishings pleasant, and kitchen well equipped. I agree with some other posts that cleaning was a little inconsistent. Pool was good for the children. My children slept on the sofa bed but I would not recommend this for older children because the mattress was thin (they have 2 bedroom apartments I think). No problems with noise. About 3 minutes drive to town. Internet was $40 for 1 week/500MB.

This hotel is a little way out of the town centre, but good value for money. The bed was amazingly comfortable and shower was also great. The only down side was that the walls seemed quite thin, as we could often hear doors slamming at all hours as people left for or came back from the snowfields. The doors had the swipe mechanism, and the handle was built so there was no way to close the door quietly without slamming it. But that was the only small annoyance on an otherwise really comfy and enjoyable stay.
Free off-road parking was a plus as well.

The hotel is in the absolute outskirts of town with no lake view. The room was so small that there was barely enough place to keep our two suitcases in the room so we left one in the car. We had room number 9 in case you want to avoid it.They had to wall mount the television ....there was no space even for a television cabinet. The tea coffee machine with the cups and saucers were all inside the one cupboard with the ironing board and iron and trays and spoons and tea bags etc ...there was no space to keep anything in the room...so if you want to hang up a few clothes you would have to throw all of the above to do so.It is a timeshare property and I think they let out empty rooms so as a hotel guest we had no priority. The room is a climb up a steep flight of stairs and they have no one to help you with your luggage. So if you are looking for a hotel ...an expensive one at that go someplace else...this is just a cupboard with a bed.

Pleasant hotel, helpful staff. Small rooms but comfortable. Good parking just outside the room. Stairs quite narrow when carrying luggage up and down. Quiet location out side Wanaka

Having stayed in mainly motels during our trip, my dad and I thought Oakridge might be the right place to indulge. Turns out, we might have done just as good (if not a little better) at a motel. Yes, the beds were comfy but the first room they gave us hadn't been cleaned yet and they almost couldn't find us another. They gave us complimentary drinks (which they tried to charge us for at check out) and the bartender was incredibly nice and let us in on some of New Zealand's best kept secrets. However, the food was terrible (nothing was actually hot at the breakfast buffet and the eggs were pretty much floating in water) and they didn't give us new towels the next day. I'm not usually a snot, but if you're paying the extra money to stay at a nice resort, you should expect exceptional service which Oakridge failed to provide.

Arrived here very tired after a great day on the glacier at Fox. Needed a good sleep and some great food and it did not disappoint. The room was fairly small but it was very clean and service was excellent. there was no hair dryer in the room but that was quickly rectified. Price for the night was very good. Breathe of fresh air.

We found some great rates for this hotel on the internet and it was completely worth it! We were skiing at Cardrona and it was only a 15min drive away, and only 5min from the centre of Wanaka.
The rooms were comfy and warm and the parking just outside was great.
The food was expensive so we ate out in Wanaka most nights - the Red Star burger place is a must try!! Biggest best burgers ever!
The hot pools were to die for, especially after a days skiing. Hours were spent in comfort, soooo good!
Overall a great option, would definitely stay there again!
