Description: With our lakefront setting, spectacular views of the majestic Southern Alps, contemporary and innovative cuisine, and fresh daily baked goods, Relishes Cafe has become something of a Wanaka institution. We are open from 7am till late offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Enjoy a glass of wine from our extensive list of local and New Zealand wines or a cup of locally roasted fair trade organic Venus coffee in a casual atmosphere. In summer, the double French doors are opened wide to fully enjoy the stunning lake view, and in winter, a roaring fire displaces the chill after a day playing on the mountains. As a family run business, we welcome even the littlest members of your family by providing a children's menu, a well loved toy box, and a highchair. We happily cater to special dietary needs and also to special events when our in house baker creates delicious cakes to celebrate your occasion! With an abundance of local produce, meats, eggs, and wine grown in the Otago region on our doorstep, there is no need to go further afield for ingredients that will create flavours to delight the palate. Dishes highlight seasonal produce, locally found herbs like horopito, free range eggs, and meats that come from the region, some coming from just down the road. Drawn by the allures of Wanaka after many holiday visits, brother and sister Toby and Tash, along with Tash's husband Paul, bought Relishes Cafe. Showcasing their passion for food, wine, and travel, the trio are frequently seen both in the kitchen and on the house floor. Head Chef Silvia has traveled the world and has an extensive culinary background including experience in Europe. She draws on her international experience to whip up culinary fusions with a Kiwi touch. Serving up twice daily blackboard specials, she and her team continuously bring something new to the table.

“Easy parking, good coffee and food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

We had 3 visits to this cafe . The coffee and muffins are good. Each time we asked for water with our coffee, only once was it brought to us without having to ask a second or third time. Waiting staff seemed a bit harassed .

“Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

Had brecky here a couple of times during our visit to Wanaka in first week of July 2014, and picked up coffee 2 or 3 other times.
I was always impressed by the friendlieness of the staff and relaxed vibe. Tried a couple of other cafes, but the friendliness is what brought me back here.
Coffee was good - but not the best. (I am a hard task master on coffee!!).
The decor is ok. Plenty of space. The fire is a great touch. Really relaxed vibe.
I had the porridge with rhubarb each time and loved that. Yum. Too busy eating to remember what the others had.....but it looked good.
Great position by the lake and practically in the town centre. Some parking directly out front that you will normally get if you arrive early before heading out for a ski. Otherwise we always found parking over the road near the lake. Make sure you check out the amazing trout/eels/ducks on the wharf after you have your coffee :) You can buy fish food at the shop near the wharf. Only discovered this on the last day and had a great time with the kids.

“Excellent Location, food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

Service was excellent, as was the food. They were more than happy to accommodate a solo traveller like myself. Definitly recommend the duck with mushroom quinoa and the beetroot infused salmon. Love this place so much I went back 4 out of my 5 nights!

“Wanaka's Best Coffee”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

We called in here as it was recommended by a local, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and coffees! The open fire was a draw card and the toilets were clean, the staff looked happy in their work, we will be calling in again soon on the way back to Queenstown when we might try the food (which looked very appealing but we were full after a hearty breakfast at out hotel).

“Very good cafè”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014 via mobile

Stopped for breakfast before venturing out of Wanaka. We were seated straight away, and had the menus brought to us. Food was of a high standard and tasted great. Especially the Breakfast parfait!
