“116 Excellent ratings - make that another one!”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

This was my second stay at Riversong (3 nights) with the previous one being in 2006. Riversong is still excellent. The main points about this property - outstanding hostess, lovely quiet location, stunning river views - even from the downstairs guest suite, fabulous breakfasts, spotless bathroom with lovely thick towels, homemade biscuits, heaters for the cold, open windows for the hot, and the most comfortable bed. Ann will also give information about where to dine, things to do etc, and she has a marvellous collection of books. As a bonus Molly the friendly dog loves her tummy being scritched!

Counting mine that makes 117 Excellent ratings with everyone of them deserved.

Recently stayed for 6 nights at Riversong. Stayed upstairs with a very comfortable bed, beautiful view of the incredible Clutha River, chairs for reading, relaxing or snacking plus an alcove complete with small fridge, sink and glasses etc for those pre dinner drinks. The bathroom is modern and well provided with soap etc. Coffee, tea and biscuits are provided in the alcove next to the bedroom. Access by a stairwell leading only to the upstairs ensures privacy. We encountered no noise problems and there is no passing traffic. The view from the small balcony outside the bedroom makes this a special location to stay. The bonus being the Host, Ann and her very friendly dog, Molly. Also encountering other guests from around the world at breakfast. The breakfasts Ann prepares and serves for the time you nominate, are excellent and varied. They include daily home made muffins, cereals, fruits plus toast, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, a variety of home made jams etc. Ann even cooked and served a trout I managed to bring back from a fishing trip on Lake Wanaka. Located at Albert Town, 2 ks from Wanaka, it is close enough to the restaurants but retains a rural feel. Walks along the river bank, drives to nearby attractions make this a very pleasant place to stay. Be sure to order a food platter from Ann to consume in your room during your stay.
In all, a most enjoyable experience!

Riversong Bed and Breakfast is hosted by Ann who is a very gracious hostess. The room we had was on the ground floor facing the river with the front verandah accessible from the room. The room was small with no small fridge. However the bed was very comfortable and there are lots of windows to open. There is a well appointed bathroom/shower available. Ann provided a wonderful home cooked breakfast with homemade goodies to spoil her guests. Lake Wanaka was within a 1 hour driving distance to Queenston. Returning in the evening to Riversong was a pleasure.

Room Tip: If you do not want to carry luggage upstairs ask for the ground floor room. It is smaller but saves...

We only had one night, at Riversong, but it was well worth the spectacular drive across the mountains from Queenstown, even after a late afternoon arrival.
Ann was a very helpful and welcoming host, the accommodation and breakfast, excellent, and there are a multitude of interesting things to do in the surrounding district.
Next time we will stay longer at Riversong.

My wife and I are blessed to have made 3 trips to New Zealand. Riversong embodies what draws us back (we have stayed there on each of our trips).....unbelievably friendly and hospitable people and spectacularly beautiful scenery. Ann is the perfect hostess. Warm, gracious and welcoming, her attention to detail shines through everywhere: delicious breakfasts beautifully presented, lovely linens, and impeccable taste throughout. Ann loves life and people and it shows in everything she does. Riversong sits on the banks of the beautiful Clutha River just a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Wanaka. Not only do you gaze on the river from your room and the decks of the house, it's peaceful sound serenades you at night. And the scenic Clutha Walk is immediately at hand. Without question, this is our favorite place in our favorite country to visit.

This is a wonderful, quiet, peaceful location with very comfy accommodation. It is a warm and friendly home with a delightful host. A delicious breakfast was served in the morning which set us up for the day and there are lovely walks from the house up the river. It's very well situated and close to Lake Wanaka. We were recommended to stay here by a cousin who has stayed on a number of occasions. If we ever have the good fortune to have another holiday in New Zealand we would book Riversong again without hesitation. We had a one night stop over here but would love to have had more time to explore the area so don't make the same mistake as us and book for longer!

This B&B is aptly named - it is close to the river bank and you can hear the relaxing sound of the water flowing through. Ann is a most welcoming host, and the accommodation is lovely - we felt very comfortable and only wished that we had stayed longer in Wanaka. Ann's cooked breakfast deserves special praise - best scrambled egg ever. We will be back!
