“Good Food, but not exciting”
Reviewed 15 April 2014 via mobile

We were there with a group of friends for dinner. It was very crowded and we were stuck at a table beside the column (a bit tight). The service was erratic with the bill the fastest to arrive, above everything else. The food was good but nothing exciting. We all enjoyed the meal but nothing to write home about..

“Didn't disappoint, but didn't excite.......”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

La Cucinetta is a difficult dining experience to review. Expectations were high as the restaurant boasts 2 chef's hats, and it didn't disappoint. But then it didn't excite either. There wasn't that something special. Despite being a busy Saturday evening the service was good and the food enjoyable, even if the menu was quite limited. We had beef carpaccio and zucchini flowers for starters, and crab linguini and a seafood "soup" special, all of which were tasty. We asked the sommelier to choose a dry white wine for us, and he chose a sensibly priced very pleasant wine that complemented the meals. Great views, and a pleasant evening. Value for money?.....Just.

“regional italian with gunbarrel views of the harbour bridge”
Reviewed 31 December 2013

everyone writes about the gunbarrel views of the coathanger - so i won't. this is a small italian restaurant with a focus on southern italian (sardinian) regional cuisine. think neighbourhood bistro feel but very well organised/efficient.
perhaps a tad too efficient - waitstaff seem to come around a bit too often to give you that rushed feeling. perhaps it wasn't intended but is a consequence of the small space and the open kitchen atmosphere.
food is great and well presented. really enjoyed all the dishes we sampled. appreciated the focus on regional cuisine - we need more restaurants like this in Sydney.

verdict: definitely worth trying out if you are into regional italian cuisine (ala "Pilu")

“AMAZING!!!”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

We dined here for a Sunday lunch! I booked online however when we arrived at the restaurant the booking hadn't been recorded - luckily as we had arrived at 12pm, they were able to give us a table (I wouldn't expect to get seated as a walk-in after 12:30pm however as the restaurant filled quickly!)

The food was AMAZING!! The whole experience greatly exceeded our expectations. The table service was impeccable. The food was amazing. The view is also great.

The only very minor complaint was perhaps the speed of the service, we were still eating our entree when the mains arrived, however no big fuss.

I would recommend to get in early and enjoy the view. Call to make a booking instead of making it online!

We'll be back!

“Top Class Restaurant Not in the Tourist Guide”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

Firstly, location is stunning at night as it looks down onto Sydney Harbour Bridge and the CBD with the Anzac bridge in view too. The front is a wall of glass folding doors so if it is chilly they remain closed and the view is still full on, if it is a warm evening you can always sit outside. Food was excellent with some really really good sea food on the menu the night I was there. The service was impeccable and to be honest if I found something to complain about there would be something wrong with me, I hear its the place to be on New Years Eve, guess you need to book that a few years in advance.
