A beautiful home with a first class hostess, who has time to chat and advise, yet knows when to leave her guests to their own devices. There is off street parking, which we used. The house was built sometime between 1903 and 1909, and is a fine example of old Australian homes with the high ceilings. My wife & I had the en-suit room, which is large and has plenty of storage space. The bathroom is well proportioned, and the shower has excellent water pressure. The timing of breakfast is at your discretion, which consists of fruit, cereals, and various hot food (eggs cooked to order), followed by toast & home made jams and marmalade. The Carlisle breakfast set us up for the whole day. There is a large sitting room next to the bedroom, which is for the use of guests. Coffee, tea and biscuits are available all day. The ambiance and homeliness of this B&B is just right for a relaxing few days. I am only sorry that we were unable to stay longer than the two nights. Carlisle B & B is located within easy reach of the city, via the tram or the local train system, which are both just a short walk from the accommodation. On our next trip to Melbourne we will definitely be staying at the Carlisle B & B.
