Visiting Ditoro Game Lodge must have been one of the best decisions we have made in our lives. It was an absolute unforgettable experience which had us talking for a long time, and still today memories of the visit keep surfacing, unconsciously putting a smile on our faces.

Ditoro was the perfect place to break away from the hustle and bustle of a busy lifestyle and escape to the African bushveld, surrounded only by fresh air and breathtaking views, and where we found that the highest form of “stress” were the anticipation of spotting the next wild animal.

We were spoiled rotten by Ditoro staff with their excellent, friendly service. They took care of the preparation of mouth watering meals, entertainment, game drives and many more, making sure that we got the most out of the time we spent with them.

When the time came to leave Ditoro, we felt reluctant to do so, and wanted to turn back the clock or at least make it stand still for a while … but when we did leave, we felt totally relaxed and charged with renewed energy to take on whatever came our way!

We will most definitely make the effort to visit again. Thank you to the owners and staff of Ditoro - it was awesome!

What a great place to break away with your girl friends and get away from everyday stress.
I have been to Dotoro more than once, and they always welcome you like it's your first time. You always feel special. If I could have it my way I would be their every weekend. With everything to keep you occupied, you totally relax and forget about everything "from the outside world" I must thank Ditoro & the great staff for getting rid of my stress. What a great place to break away with your girl friends and get away from everyday stress.

We have been to Ditoro twice already and can't wait to go back. There is nothing like getting out of the city and into the bush for a weekend to make you feel like you have had a good break. It is such a relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by all the necessary facilities that are needed to make the weekend perfect. Hearing the animals at night and driving up close to them during the day is awesome - and that's what you get at Ditoro. It's an incredible feeling driving out into the bush on the quad bikes and stopping to look at the animals up close. What I love the most is sitting around a camp fire under the African sky!!! It's breathtaking.

2,5 hour leisurely drive from Pretoria, with the road mostly good except for 40 kilometres of narrow single-lane between Modimolle and Vaalwater. The last few kilometres of dirt road was in excellent condition.
We stopped off in Vaalwater on the way in, lots of curio shops and a decent grocery store.
Very warm reception by Ditoro's small staff.
Comfortable, clean rooms - with safes, which were hardly necessary - rooms serviced daily.
We took our own food, which was then deliciously prepared to our order by Ditoro's gracious chef. A late breakfast is served on a verandah overlooking the swimmingpool and, perhaps 20 metres away, a waterhole with a variety of game coming and going throughout the day. Evening meals consisted of barbecues and potjiekos on the fire in the lapa.
There was plenty to do,. We spent most of our time in the veld with a guide, in safari vehicles or on quad bikes, but the hiking, biking and fishing looked superb too. Wonderful photo opportunities everywhere.
We had the camp to ourselves, so we soon felt like family, not paying guests - that was probably the best thing about Ditoro. The other best thing was that it really is an unspoiled wilderness area with an interesting geography of hills, valleys, dams and rivers.
The most surprising thing was how undisturbed the game was by our presence. No Big Five, but that was considered a blessing by parents whose children were running round in the veld by themselves. :)
The other best thing about Ditoro had to be the evenings around the camp fire, drink in hand, listening to the sounds of Africa.
