My husband and I stayed here for five nights following our safari in Kenya, and I was so glad we chose this hotel. The rooms are huge, we had two balconies - one with a day bed - and the bathroom was fabulous.

Being low season we were expecting a little rain, and boy when it did rain it was torrential, but the hotel staff went out of their way to ensure we still enjoyed our stay. Not all of the restaurants were open when we were there, but we hardly noticed. For most of our stay there were only around 30 guests, so the team made every evening special, moving dinner away from the large dining room and to other parts of the complex including the beach bar and the lounge area.

The food and beverage manager, Khalid, was an absolute star - he had only been there for two weeks and having read other reviews, I thnk he is making a huge difffernece to the quality of service and especially the food. My husband and I are very fussy eaters, but not once did we leave dinner hungry, in fact we both ate very well at every meal.

At breakfast there was a stunning selection, considering the number of guests, with english breakfast cooked to order and even a pancake and waffle station. I must mention here the young pastry chef who does make the most delicious cheese croissant. Lunch always offered as good a choice of cold and hot meals and at dinner we were spolit for choice. There was always a range of cuisines and a cooked to order option.

I celebrated my birthday on holiday and the staff deliverd a lovely cake to our table while dancing and singing through the dining room. They had even iced my name onto it.

The facilities were stunning with beautiful swimming pools and a jacuzzi, many of us simply swam in the rain. The beach bar and coco bar have amazing views and the staff were all fabulous, especially Rashid, who always knew what I was going to order from the bar.

Many people have mentioned the flies and I have to admit that I found them really annoying, but to be fair, there isn't a lot you can do about it, the staff did cover everything as best they could - the culprits here were the other guests who had no courtesy for others and left food uncovered after making their choices.

we did venture to Stone Town, Jozandi Forest, the turtle sanctuary and a spice plantation and thoruoghly enjoyed the island as well. I also enjoyed a coconut massage at the spa overlooking the sea - heaven.

All in all a fantastic resort with fantastic people, on one of the most beautiful islands in the world.

Room Tip: We stayed in block L, it was nearer to the sea and we had a fantastic view, the other blocks closer...

The place is absolutely great, good huge rooms & bathrooms with all the amenities. Stunning beach front and fantastic swimming pools, 4 of them including a jaccuzzi and infinity pool. Food was okay. All inclusive made it fantastic. The ocean water is so clear and great
We went for our anniversary and they went out of their way to make it a great occassion. Most of the staff were friendly.
We will definitely be returning to this fantastic resort.

The setting is stunning, the rooms are beautiful, the beach is exquisite but the food in the diningroom is dreadful - unimaginative, dried out and COLD! The kitchen staff are slow and disorganised, and that extends to the ex-pats among them hacking off chunks of meat instead of carving! I was disgusted to see a member of the kitchen staff leaving the toilets in the foyer without washing her hands. I believe that a few spayed/neutered cats would curb the rats which wandered into the diningroom at dinner-time! After the first buffet meal in the diningroom, we preferred to order from the snack menu at the Samaki Seaside Bar where the food was freshly made and tasty.

The resort is pricey but a paradise. It is 50kms from the airport and hence 1 hour away by car and $50 one way taxi charge.

Its all inclusive which includes some drinks and all food. They will tell you at the bar which drink is not included.

The rooms and bathrooms are huge with all amenities.

The facilities on site are quite a bit with 5 pools and a similar number of bars. Very well landscaped with beaufitul views of the beach and sea. Loads of beach activities also. Child friendly also and our 5 year old loved thr place.

The food is buffet style but for the 6 meals we had there it seemed to repeat a bit. Not a lot of choice but more geared to italian food. Hence if you are a vegetarian indian like me expect to eat a lot of pizza and pasta instead.

Staff were very helpful.

We will go back for sure in a few years.

Such a shame......my husband and I stayed at this resort after a week on safari....one 1st glance lovely hotel huge rooms great staff and beautiful setting HOWEVER..got eaten alive by tiny ants in bed patio doors didn't shut properly or lock. The resort is mainly geared to Italians so animation staff speak little English WORST is the food or lack of it. Little choice. Cold covered in flies or under cooked..we avoided buffet and lived on pizza n burgers from the snack bar.....LASTLY don't expect any help from the manager RUDE & UNCOOPERATIVE MAN won't be returning....

What a stunnig Place. We like going to Zanzibar, but I must admit this was the best time we've had. Nungwi is definetly the most beautiful part of the island. There was fun things for the kids, big and small to do. Entertainment every night. We had a ball! Can't wait to go there again.

This review has been a long time coming for which we apologise! Like many of the other reviewers we were a little wary of some of the other comments for the hotel as we were travelling with other members of our family who had agreed to witness our wedding in paradise! We arrived on boxing day 2010 for a ten night stay including wedding ceremony before flying off for a three night safari and then returning for a further four nights at the royal zanzibar. We experienced nothing but the highest attention the whole time our party of eight were in the resort, from the upgrade we received as the happy couple, to the service in the restaurant and bars. True the hotel caters mainly to Italian guests (due to the direct flights available from Italy) but we found this made the staff even more eager to speak English with us. Life takes on a different pace to back at home so a little understanding of this makes you realise things may take a bit longer but they will get done in the end. Our wedding ceremony was absolutely fantastic and they couldn't do enough to make our special day so memorable. The food was some of the best all-inclusive fare we have had and the way the staff move the whole dining operation down to the beach for the twice weekly bbq is wonderful. All in all a holiday of a lifetime in a truly stunning location

Room Tip: upgraded rooms facing beach with good sunset views
