“Wonderful, relaxing paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

We spent three nights at the Zanzibari and wished we could have stayed for longer. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home thanks to the warm welcome we received from the hotel's manager, Mrisho and his team of staff. Our room (the Bustani Suite) was beautiful and very spacious, the views of the incredibly turquoise sea from the small beach are just incredible, and the whole resort has the feel of a smart boutique hotel with a local, personal touch. Dinner was an impressive five-course meal every night, and the waiters were fantastic (they taught us quite a few words of Swahili). One evening, the Masai warriors that work at the hotel performed some dances after dinner, which was a real treat to observe. The hotel can also arrange various tours and excursions, including snorkelling near Mnemba Island, which was enjoyable. All in all, the perfect place to kick back and relax for a few days in a little slice of paradise.

We stayed at the Zanzibari for 6 nights. We weren't picked up on time from the airport, not sure if this was our travel agency or the hotel's mistake though. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the manager and although a huge group had just arrived as well, we weren't forgotten. We filled out our registration and discovered that we had been upgraded to a suite. It was a lovely surprise! We had our own pool, beach and a two story bungalow. Each night we had a choice of 2 main courses. The food was ok but lacked variety. We ended up trying some of the places closer to the town as well. Breakfast was good, again same choice every morning, but then again we were there 6 nights! The staff was awesome, so friendly and helpful. The manager helped us set up all of our dives and stone town/spice tour. Each night our bed was turned down. My only negative would be that it's not right in the town so for dinner you can walk to town but had to take a taxi back. A few minor things were: the water pressure was abysmal but hot water was good, towels and sheets were clean but some had stains. Overall a good stay.

We stayed here for 3 days after the exertions of our safari (16 of us!), very relaxing and peaceful.
Staff could not be more friendly and food was fantastic (5 courses for dinner every night)
Rooms were well kept and clean (we must have had the worlds highest bed - getting in was like high jumping) with fresh flowers every day
Pool and terrace area great and well tended - only grouse was not enough sunbeds if everyone stayed in the hotel and did not go diving etc and not much to do at night
Steps down to public beach were guarded by Masai warriors at low tide
Definitely worth a stay

I visited Zanzibari beg of June. The hotel is typical African style, very clean, the food is really delicious, especially when you order Lunch. An excellent chef! All staff, even the gardener are always eager to help you in what you need. The view from our suite is priceless! We highly recommend this hotel to our friends and family who are thinking to visit Zanzibar very soon and we hope that one day we will visit them once again.

Room Tip: All rooms are facing the garden and the pool, then the beach. Our Frangipani Suite couldn't,be b...

Been there in Aug/2013 for 3 days. The place is awesome and the view is priceless. Food was a pleasant surprise - they have an excellent chef. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Crew was friendly and helpful.
The only issue was weak WiFi signal at our room. On our last day a technician came to fix it, so I hope it is no long a problem. Nungwi is at the north end of the island, an hour+ drive from Zanzibar city. You must arrange in advance your transportation. Go for a rented car if you want to see the area.

I went to Zanzibar 26th April 2014 hotel is a 60 minutes drive from the ferry when I arrived my room was ready and dinner was ready they service a course meal small portions but very very tasty also the manger asked me if I have any dietary requirements and I told him that I am on a gluten free diet so they made me gluten free toast every day
There was a problem with electricity in my room so we slept 1st day with out any electricity and so no AC
Second day manger told us that there was a problem with building electricity and upgraded us to suite the suit is amazing right on beach very nice furniture much nicer then our original room very relaxing view
The beach is nice to walk on but not for swimming and no snorkeling or diving on site so if you want to do anything else except lay around in the pool or in front of beach all day then you have to book snorkeling or diving
The manger and the staff were excellent very friendly people.
So if you are staying for a longer time I would advice you to book some activities because there isnt much to do in hotel

Room Tip: Suite is far better then room and can take up to 5 people

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights as an extension option to a VJV holiday. The journey from Stone Town took about 90 minutes by road and gave us the opportunity to see more of the island and its activities.
At the hotel we were given a lovely welcome by the manager, Mrisho. He like the rest of the staff was very friendly, attentive and considerate throughout our stay. He worked hard and was an asset to the hotel.
The grounds are attractively landscaped and well maintained. The seaward edge, overlooking a small cliff, is covered in deep sand so whilst there is not a traditional beach, it feels very much like one. The site is dotted with different types of beach furniture (loungers, seats, hammocks, sunshades etc).
The view over the sea is beautiful. The water is relatively shallow and warm. When the tide is low or out, it is possible to walk some distance along the coastline and out to the sea edge. However, due to the large number of sea urchins, it is advisable to wear beach shoes for both activities. The swimming pool is an adequate size for a leisurely swim and is clean and warm.
Our accommodation was clean and comfortable. It was replenished daily with fresh water and towels.
All the food was fresh, well prepared and presented. The choice of foods at breakfast and lunch was limited. This was fine for a few days but could have become monotonous for any longer. The five course dinners were varied and the food was excellent. The bar, whilst expensive, had a good selection of local beers, African wines and International spirits.
