Very nice hotel: lovely bungalows, open-air lounge areas and dining room, nice clean pool, all overlooking the irridescent waters of the Indian Ocean.
Amazing food: impressive variety (considering this is Zanzibar) and fresh, fresh, fresh! Excellent service: Shaun is an attentive and devoted manager who's always checking to make sure guests are satisfied. And all the wait staff (dining room, bar and beach area) are genuinely nice and eager to please.
On-site dive shop (Aquarius Divers) is terrific. Equipment is well-maintained, staff is accommodating and helpful. David & Cholo made this an unforgettable experience for our teenage daughters (both novice divers). I also liked that they are eco-minded and genuinely interested in preserving the fragile marine environment.

Room Tip: We stayed in garden view rooms #33 and 34, adjoining rooms that share a very large outdoor terrace...

Very nice experience, ideal location to get some rest after the safari. Beautiful beach just in front, very nice spa.
And the food is just amazing. Chef Samir is extra-ordinary and the main reason that I visited Ras Nungwi for a second time.

We went here for the 2nd part of our honeymoon. Beautiful, quiet, romantic location. Smaller hotel so quite intimate. Staff were very nice. Genuine and very attentive. It's more costly than I expected- prices compare to the US for food and drinks and perhaps a little more than US. We spent Christmas here and they had a wonderful dinner. The chef is amazing, he comes around and talks to all the guests personally. Wifi is free which is good- but not available in the rooms. We walked along the beach, played in the warm water, played pool, darts, read while lying in hammocks overlooking the white sand and beautiful blue-green ocean. Rooms were adequately sized and pretty. Bathroom is a bit small but not an inconvenience. We had a garden view room - number 14 but it overlooked the ocean so it's a good choice. We borrowed diving boots and walked along the ocean when the tide was out. Towards the north side of the island ( going left from the hotel on the beach) you will find other hotels and a pier with an amazing restaurant/ bar at the end. Great place to take pics.

Room Tip: ocean view or garden view on the lower half of the hotel closer to the restaurant

Whether post-safari or escaping the congestion and air pollution of urban centers in Africa, this is a great escape. Beautiful views, friendly staff, fine service, excellent albeit rich food, excellent diving and snorkeling options, and a peaceful environment all combine to make this a wonderful place to spend a few days…or more.

While there are numerous highlights including the excellent PADI team that provides diving options and training, the main chef, Samir, is an amazing asset for this hotel. He is gregarious and full of knowledge about the culture, island, and options in Stonetown. He goes out of his way to assist guests in their quests to understand the culture of Zanzibar, culinary options, and local spices.

We stopped here for 5 days following a safari in Uganda and Kenya. We were in an Ocean View Room which was simply stunning. The rooms are an excellent size, and well maintained. Everyday we had new floral displays on our beds and in the bathroom, which was a lovely touch. The air-conditioning works well, which is perfect after lazing around in the sun.

This hotel is in a remote location, on a beautiful beach and the perfect place to completely get away from it all and relax. If you are looking for isolation, this is the place for you. The only downside is that if you plan to do any trips you will pay much higher costs than if near Stonetown owing to 'transfer costs'.

The pool was amazing, like stepping into a warm bath. The sun loungers were comfortable and the umbrellas provided enough shade or sun to suit all needs. The poolside bar service as also a bonus!

The food served here is limited in choice, but was generally of a good quality. The only disappointment was breakfast as it wasn't always fresh. I assume this is because we were there at a quiet time of the year.

I found everyone working here to be incredibly friendly and helpful, and they couldn't do enough to make sure we had an enjoyable stay.

I would certainly recommend this hotel and would visit again.

The experience that we had is beyond words... the place is at the end of the zanzibar island and is one of the few places that has its own private beach.

Right from the moment we stepped on to the property nothing but smiling & helpful faces greeted us. Bakari, the person at the reception, was most helpful and explained to us everything that was there in the resort, the activities, the tours as well as what all could be done out side..

The PADI dive centre was amazing... considering neither my husband nor I have ever dived... the way they handled us was amazing. I did snorkeling and was assisted when ever i needed any help and my husband did the Scuba dive... His experience was simply awesome.. the trainer Chyolo was such an amazing trainer that despite it being my husbands 1st ever dive he was in the water for more that an hour without panicking even once...

This is the only resort I have ever been to where the Chef (Samir) takes such good care of the tastes and preferences of all his guests. He will meet all the guests and talk to them about their tastes and if there are any special dietary requirements... not stopping at that.. he makes sure all the guests are well looked after... he will include a special meal for you at your request. As he says... happy tummies mean happy guests :)

The staff is so nice and friendly.. they make you feel right at home...

Absolutely loved our stay here and if we ever go to Zanzibar again... this is the place we are staying at! :)

We arrived here on Christmas Day after being on safari for 5 days and were given a really warm welcome before being shown the hotel and amenities on the way to our sea view cottage. The incredible colour of the sea and the soft white sandy beach combined with the beautifully tended gardens were all clearly visible from the verandah of the cottage and made this a lovely place to watch the sunrise or to have a sundowner in the evening. ALL the staff and Management were friendly and helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble. Samir, the chef, came out to talk to the guests and also made sure that allergies were catered for.I am allergic to nuts and at meal times, if there was a dish incorporating nuts, he would make sure there was an alternative for me. We especially requested a Zanzibar curry and this appeared on the menu choices one evening and was so delicious!

We can't wait to come back and would certainly recommend it to our friends. In fact, the hotel was such a lovely place to relax around the pool that we could barely tear ourselves away to look at other parts of Zanzibar! The cottages are beautifully appointed and the beds very comfortable and huge! It was good to see that the property was well patrolled by security guards.

Room Tip: It is well worth paying the extra for the superior sea view cottages.
