I have finally decided to start giving back to the community by writing reviews and this one is my first. I was there on a romantic getaway with my boyfriend in Feb 2013 (couldn't select that far back!) after climbing kili and this was the most relaxing beautiful place! The staff made us feel really special, we loved that there were not a lot of rooms in the hotel and we each had our own hut. We can recommend this place, well worth the expense.

I decided to visit Nungwi for a night at the last minute and it was a great decision! I contacted the reservations desk and they were able to accomodate me with a room for the night and worked with me arranging a taxi from Stone Town. Upon arrival, we were greeted my the manager and assistant manager and they showed us around the resort. I stayed in a bungalow with the a view of the ocean and it was definitely worth every penny! The room was lovely, with a very large bed, a nice size bathroom, air conditioning, and a safe. They sprayed down the room with mosquito repellent. It was nice to sit on the front stoop and look at the beautiful blue Ocean. The hotel includes both a pool and a beach area. You are welcome to swim in the ocean and there were lounge chairs along the beach, but you had to be aware of the tides. The entire staff was incredibly attentive and responsive to your every need. The food was delicious and they made a special effort to make my friend's birthday even more special with a surprise birthday cake and dancing. The spa was lovely and I received extra attention on my feet and hands. I went into the small town and although it was a bumpy ride to get there, there were some nice beach restaurants. Overall, this is a great spot for anyone, solo travelers, families, and couples.

Room Tip: Wear water shoes in the ocean.

We stayed at Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel at the end of our African safari to unwind and relax. The resort was marvelous. The grounds are beautiful. It is set right on the Indian Ocean.

The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to meet any request. They were at pains to call us each (my wife, our adult daughter, and I) by name.

They made sure our special needs were met. My wife and I both have dietary needs. The chef came to our table more than once to let us know of menu choices made with our needs in mind. He made sure he understood what those needs were and made options available to us that complied with those requirements.

We used the Spa and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

This was a great experience.

The most incredible stay I have ever had! We recently stayed for our honeymoon, and it was perfect.

Staff are amazing. Friendly, helpful and always willing to go beyond the call to attend to their guest's wishes. The restaurant staff organized us a beautiful private beach dinner as part of the honeymoon package, which was amazing.
It was great to have a quick chat with the restaurant staff each time we passed them, such is the friendly, relaxed atmosphere with the staff.
Management staff went out of their way to make us welcome and even helped us to book a few private tours and sight seeing trips.

Restaurant food is brilliant. Daily fresh seafood and specials for dinner were brilliant. The al la carte menu (lunch) was excellent with a wonderful selection and incredible quality fine food.

2 beautiful bars on the resort are great. The beach bar where you sip cocktails over the water, and the lovely main bar with the most comfortable couches I've ever sat in!

We stayed in a Superior Chalet room for our first night, then in the Ocean Suite for most of our stay. The Superior Chalet rooms are amazing, opening onto gorgeous ocean views with comfortable beds and wonderfully appointed bathrooms.
Our stay in the Ocean Suite was absolutely magnificent. The private plunge pool, private beach and secluded private sun areas were simply perfect. The suite itself was incredible, 2 storeys of luxury. A beautiful air conditioned living area, bathroom, walk through robe, bar/kitchenette and exquisite bedroom downstairs are all truly breathtaking. The upstairs relaxation area with sun beds, hammock, couches and day beds is also just perfect.

The resort location is in a league of its own. Photos cannot do justice to how beautiful the lagoon, the turquoise ocean and the resort itself is.

We also went deep sea fishing, kayaking and snorkeling. All incredible trips organized by the on-site dive centre.

This was an incredible stay, there was nothing that we can fault about our time at Ras Nungwi.
It's almost 2 days travel from Sydney, but we've already got our return planned to this paradise!
Can't recommend it highly enough!

We de-bunked a grey UK for a holiday in the sun selecting Ras Nungwi beach hotel at the last minute and what a great choice. The staff are so professional, nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in the thatched bungalows near the sea and it was worth the extra. Beautiful clean rooms, huge netted 4 poster beds , great air con, big in-room fridges, toiletries, funky dressing gowns and bottled water each day made for a very relaxed stay.
It was end of season so we were a bit wary the hotel might be in 'close down' mode, but it was full on service with less guests we were spoilt rotten. So much so that our last night was arranged by the wonderful restaurant manager Roger. It was a private table on the beach area festooned with flowers and candles to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, having been in Kenya this time 25 years ago, but now with 4 children in tow too. Later we were entertained by the staff with dancing and singing, they are just so friendly and fun, not in your face, but so welcoming and charming.
Food was Mediterranean meets Asian, on ½ board it was 4 course meal each night with lots of interesting choices. Table service avoids a buffet crush. All fish is locally sourced and very fresh. Breakfast buffet is comprehensive and tasty, full on cooked and also lots of pastries, cereals even waffles. Daughter 3 who is gluten free was well catered for too. Samir the chef was charming.

Special mention also to the excellent 5 star dive centre. The staff are so patient and calm. 2 of the teenagers did the 'discover scuba' dive where they were introduced in the pool to the techniques then taken on a day trip with 2 one-hour dives to Mnemba Island which has a marine park status where they descended the sand bank to a coral reef. En route to the dive they met with a pod of wild dolphins and amazingly were able to jump off of the boat and swim with them, including a baby with mumma dolphin, apparently quite rare, all the instructors were beaming and made it very special for them. Daughter 1 who had dived a number of times before had an excellent deeper dive and saw the dolphins again along with lots of other fish, corals, Eels, Groupers, and Nemo! They said that David and Chullo, the dive masters, were the epitome of laid-back competence, throughly nice ; even a lady who was not a confident swimmer and lost her nerve in the water, was calmly guided through a solo dive and amazed herself afterwards at what she'd accomplished.
We were at the beginning of the rainy season, and nervous that the weather would be disappointing but although we did have rain, it was only for short spells and stayed warm - to be honest it came as a lovely freshener to the heat. The beach is lovely and clean, only a small set of steps down from the main hotel and at high tide the sea comes right up, and beautiful for swimming.
Free Wifi in the big and comfy bar areas and a good happy hour where we'd convene for a mojito or two in the beach bar!
All in all an excellent family break and would highly recommend it to other visitors who want a lovely relaxing break to get away from it all!!

Room Tip: Superior rooms are worth the investment as you're right on the sea front! i

We came here post safari to go kiteboarding, not the most ideal place on zanzibar - paje is the place to be.
10 of stayed here we loved the hotel, pool, spa, the staff were friendly and fun, cocktails and food were 5 star too.
Comfortable huge huge beds.
I would recommend the upgrade room right on the waters edge, . Not for the light sleepers though.
Stunning holiday destination
