“absolutely made our honeymoon perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2011

we were looking for a relaxing honeymoon with white beach and perfect sea. thats exactly what we got and to make things perfect the owner upgraded us to best room available because we were on our honeymoon. however first room we were given before upgrde was still really nice.
all the staff were very attentive and friendly.
rooms cleaned daily to good standard
nice pool area
great views in sea view rooms, can literally jump into sea from the sunbathing balcony(if tide in!!!)

Room Tip: ask for a sea view room, stunning views

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in November, and it was by far the BEST hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff was unbelievable, the food was known as "the best on the island" by the locals and let me tell you, it must have been, it is owned by a man who is always on site and loves to chat with all of his guests! He also offers free cooking classes with him, all you have to do is pay for your meal! Not to mention besides the food being some of the best food I've ever tasted, it is also very cheap by North American standards. One night after dinner at a nearby restaurant (which didn't measure up to LangiLangi's restaurant), we stopped by the hotel's restaurant to get some milkshakes for dessert, and while we were waiting, the owner of the hotel came over and started chatting with us, and said that he had an empty ocean view room that he would like us to take for our remaining 2 nights free of charge! It was much bigger than our original room, but both were gorgeous!! The next night he gave us a cooking lesson for tuna, shrimp curry, beans and spinach, and not only was it a lot of fun to do, it was delicious and I have since been able to replicate the curry at home!
The hotel's location is also fantastic! It could not have been better, located between two white sand beaches, it was like paradise. We also went scuba diving and explored the area around the hotel!
I would not stay at any other hotel in Zanzibar!!!

This hotel is an excellent choice in the nungwi area of Zanzibar. The hotel provided us with great service, whatever we needed, the hotel staff was avaliable and williing to accomodate even though it was during the ramadam season.
The hotel has both ocean view and garden view rooms. The garden view rooms are overlooking the pool and are in a beautiful setting. We had a garden view room. The actual room was basic but it had everything we needed including a little terrace out front and AC.
The hotel restaurant has a east indian flare, with a great variety of dishes, a little on the spicy side but very delicious.
The hotel is right in the center of nungwi close to all the other hotels and restaurants.
When the tide goes out you can take a long walk along the beach and reach kendwa but make sure you get back before the tide comes in.

It is not often that you stay in a hotel where you can literally feel the hospitality of the owners. And although we came from a super luxurious lodge in the Serengeti, I would not have dreamed of staying anywhere else on Zanzibar. This is the fifth time I stayed at Langi Langi and I will certainly go back.

The garden and pool view rooms are somewhat simple, but perfectly clean and big enough to sleep in. After all, what else are you going to do there? You spend the day at the beach or by the pool, the evening at Cholo's beach bar and have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the best restaurant along the beach - Langi Langi.

After 1 day by the bluest Ocean imaginable, you feel all the worries of the world slipping away. And whoever gets upset by the slowness of service or the quality of the bakery should think about what really matters and relax. You're in Paradise!

Thanks to Sele for making this a memorable stay!

Just returned from a four nights stay at LangiLangi, ending an African adventure of Kilimanjaro trekking and Ngoro Ngoro safari. A fantastic ending! We were a group of 13 staying in different types of rooms, but myself and a friend had booked a Seaview room. Awsome! Our terracce was practically over the sea at hight tide. Waking up at the sound of waves in the morning was an added luxury. An upgrade is absolutely advicable! A couple of rooms had their aircon out of order on arrival, but they were in order the next day. First night at the restaurant turned to be a disaster due to an inexperienced waiter who totally freaked out when we wanted the bill to be split on the rooms... and we ended up spending 90 minutes!!!! just getting the orders finalised. But the food was excellent! The next day Sele - the owner - apologized and took control of the situation by offering to cook a a couple of red snapper fish in different ways for us all. After that we ended up letting Sele decide what was on the menue - and he cooked us three course meals every night - and it all tasted like from a five star restaurant! The hightligt was our lobster night, when we had a whole lobster each. We were on a half board, and were told that we could have dinner for 20 000 TZS, and must pay extra if we ordered more than that. But when checking out, they didn't charge us anything for dinners we had - and they all amounted to much more every night! That is what I call service! We were told by our travel agent that they wouldn't be serving alcohol, but they now do. They serve beer and wine, but the amount of wine bottles in stock are not always enough. They then allow the guests to bring their own. There is a small shop across the village square - straight forward when you go out the hotel arrival gate. On the right corner there is a liquer store. The restaurant is really above all expectations and it was full every night. Breakfast is not of European standard, and the bread could be better. But you get to order omelette or eggs of your choice, coffee, tea and juice (cordial - not juice....) and nice cakes. The pastry was not the best...This is a very relaxed place, and while we were there it was pretty much closed by 11 pm. There is nice sun deck next to the restaurant, in front of the seaview rooms, and here is approx 12 sun beds. We had to get up very early in order to get hold of one of these! The rooms are spacy and have great lighting. The only thing is they do not wash the floors, and the staircase up to the first og and second floors of the building was filthy dirty. I saw the cleaning ladies just spraying the room with nice deo, but no actual use of water. NOT GOOD! The beds were ok and I slept like a baby. We had twin room of two big beds with mosquito nets. I would go back to this place any time. It is not a five star hotel, but five star luxury backpacking. You get what you pay for, and the atmosphere is much more personal and genuine than in large luxury resorts.

We had a nice stay at Langi Langi. Generally I am a little frustrated with the price levels in Tanzania, as I think the value for money is not as good as many other places. The same goes for this place, it is quite expensive for what you get, but we certainly enjoyed our stay. The manager is very present and a funny guy. There is a beach on both sides of the hotel. One of the beaches needs to be cleaned for garbage. There were too many plastic bottles and cans lying around. This is really imortant.
