“highly recommend for stay in Nungwi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2013

I just got back from staying at this hotel for around 6 nights and I had a great time.

The hotel location is fantastic with great views and easy access to the beach (walk down the steps from lunch and you are at the beach). We enjoyed quite a few dinners relaxing and seeing the ocean/sunset.

Generally I like to get out of the hotel and eat at other places, however I can assure you the restaurant at the hotel is the best in Nungwi. The curries and masalas in particular are super rich in flavor and resulted in us nearly licking our plate after each dinner. Remember to make reservations as the place fills up, and also the waits for dinner can be long due to all the people wanting to get this delicious food, be patient.

As a contrast the breakfast (included in the room) is just ok. It's not bad, nothing is wrong, it just doesnt compare with how good the dinner is.

The staff were always friendly and helpful - giving us advice and helping with other things.

On the sad side (and this is not the hotel's fault) the beach is a particularly unrelaxing experience on most days. Why? Because this is a tourist city and thus there are tons of teenagers/early 20s who hang out on the beach and harass you to go on tours with them or buy stuff. They all act nice, asking your name and such, however they are all just trying to sell stuff and after you say no to 10 people, you get frustrated.

One particular time I was talking with my wife along a lovely beach at sunset, and every 10 meters a new person came up to us to befriend us, sometimes even cutting off my conversation. I know these guys are trying to make a living, but it just sucks due to how constant their pitches are, and that they are on the beach so you cant walk in the waves without them talking to you.

Again, this last part is not the owner's fault and he makes an effort to get these people off you, but he can only do so much.

Other points - rooms are a little basic, but totally acceptable and honestly we barely spent time in the rooms except for a little relaxing on the porch some evenings. Bed is a bit hard, but perfectly acceptable. Cleaning staff were attentive to cleaning the sheets and making the room nice each day.

Never done this before, felt compelled to write something about Langi Langi. I had a week in Zanzibar with my girlfriend, great food (other hotels even recommended it), great vistas, pool etc. Management was world class. Staff were attentive but relaxed. Great place for high mid stay in Zanzibar.

Room Tip: Get the suite called 'Tumbatu'!

For years now I have been threatening to write tripadvisor reviews. I have stayed in many places and signed up to many activities that I have both loved and hated, and fully intended to review, only to find the time to do so all too elusive. Such was our experience in Langi Langi, however, that leaving it unreviewed simply was not an option.

We spent five fantastic days in Langi Langi. Sele was a fantastic host and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, not least when he cooked up a mouth watering off-menu dish for us on our last night. We ate really, really well in Nungwi (usually in Langi Langi's restaurant) but Sele's dish was the highlight. It was also no problem when we wanted to change our departure date and when I offered a tip when we were settling our bill, Sele insisted that it was too generous and would only accept half the amount!! He is a hard man to negotiate with!

Our garden view room was clean with a good bathroom. It also had a lovely private balcony in lush surroundings. We enjoyed spending time at the pool and also on the sun loungers overlooking the sea adjacent to the restaurant. Langi Langi is an extremely pleasant place to spend some time and excellent value. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Nungwi.

Room Tip: We say the sea view rooms and they are lovely and spacious with (obviously) great views, but the gar...

We (married couple) spent a wonderful time (10days) at Langi Langi this August - staff is super friendly and attentive. The location is top-notch:) The rooms are nice & clean and the area is quiet so you can relax perfectly (it also helps that the beach is literally 1min away). We've been to Zanzibar before but the North of the island is really the most beautiful place and Langi Langi certainly is an excellent address :) Would stay there anytime again and we're already planning our next visit in 2014.

We stayed for a week in September in Langi Langi and we experienced such unforgettable days. Sele and the staff was so friendly, so wellcoming they spoiled us with surprise compliments and helped us in every detail for our perfect honeymoon. The food was unbelievable! ı have eaten in many parts of the world never tried the food like this; gives the feeling of homemade yet professional haute-cuisine from fresh Zanzibari ingredients. Breakfast is more than enough, haven't seen this much of choice in 4-5 star hotels in Europe. I'll definitely recommend pancakes..Location was excellent, the beach was quiet yet close to anywhere central which gives a perfect advantage of relaxing and not missing anything. (Tour boats are anchored to the next bay just two minutes away, you won't be disturbed by people coming and going, that's what i mean ). If you prefer pool, it was in a gorgeous garden of flowers and clean and quiet. As the sea view rooms were booked already, we stayed in a room with a garden view, and didn't regret it..Waking up with birds singing and scent of flowers is so nice. As a surprise we didn't face any mosquitos or insects, i thought there would be many. A couple of times we went for lunch to other big hotels around and always returned back and couldn't understand why spend so much money for a packed pool and average meals. Langi Langi is the best place to stay in Nungwi.

We enjoyed a four night stay at the Langi Langi hotel in Nungwi. First, we were a bit nervous it would be loud since Nungwi has a party reputation but it wasn't at all. The hotel was centrally located but still very quiet and relaxing. The rooms were really clean and ammenties great. Nice pool. The beach does dissapear at high tide but there are beaches that are wider (and available at all times) on both sides, less than a minute walk in each direction. Be sure to walk down the beach at low tide early morning (particularly towards the light house) as you will see all the fishing Dhows that come in for repairs and hang out waiting for the tide. It's a really majestic site. Sele the Langi Langi manager is a doll, gave us a free dinner one night. The food was great. Good wifi also and a nice deck over the beach to lie out on. Also the sunset sailing cruise was really nice (and very cheap at $15 a head). Can't say enough great things about the Langi Langi.

Room Tip: Garden View rooms were very quiet.

We stayed at Langi Langi for 5 nights and if you’re headed to Nungwi to dive or for a relaxing break I can’t recommend it highly enough. Sele and histeam at made us feel very welcome, helped us on several occasion to organise trips and transport and even cooked us a fantastic off menu meal on our last night.

The hotel itself is has a great atmosphere, is spotlessly clean and has a perfect beach front location. In addition it boast the best restaurant we ate in during our trip.

If you’re headed to Nungwi to dive or for a relaxing break I can’t recommend it highly enough.
