We stayed here for four nights after an eight-day safari in Uganda. Kasha is a very nice property in the northeast of Zanzibar. We loved our Seafront Cottage that was very large and very comfortable. It really felt like a private villa with its own plunge pool. We enjoyed the view from the veranda and the very large bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. The bathtub was huge and made out of some stone. It took forever to fill, but it was relaxing. There was a TV in the room, but no reception. However, we could rent DVDs and watched a couple f movies. We were on half board and that was OK. We paid extra for lunch for several days as there are very limited other eating options in the area. Kasha is truly isolated and you have to drive down an awful road for quite some distance. When I had read other reviews about this, I thought that the guests were probably a bit too sensitive or exaggerating. I thought for sure nothing will beat the poor roads in Uganda. I was wrong. It truly was a bad drive and a regular sedan will have trouble. We took an airport taxi for $ 50.00. It was a sedan and I think the driver was sort of sorry he agreed to drive us as I am sure his car was somewhat damaged in the process of maneuvering the road. I felt sorry for him which made the whole taxi trip stressful. However, we were rewarded when we finally got to the resort. The common areas are nice, but nothing special. Food was average to good. Some decent wine choices (all South African) at fair prices. We enjoyed the pool area and the views over the ocean from there. There is very little swimming in the ocean neither in high or low tide. The reef is there and many sea urchins. The views however are very nice. We relaxed for the most part for the four days which is what we were looking for. If you plan to leave the resort a lot, that may be a bit of an effort. We took the trip to the private beach which was OK, but still not great for swimming. One really needs to be out in the ocean to swim. I think Kasha is beautiful and I would recommend it if you want peace and quiet and can be comfortable just staying put. I was a bit disappointed when seeing some other areas on the drive back to the airport. I had imagined some ocean paradise with many swaying palm trees etc. That was not so much the case in the area around Kasha. It is certainly lush, but not so many palms. But it still met our needs. If you want privacy and good sea views, I would recommend Seafront villas as there is nobody in front of you. The Seaview villas look mostly just onto the Seafront villas and you can see into their outdoors space from the paths. Service at the hotel was very nice and general manager and staff looked well after guests.
