The perfect getaway for complete relaxation

We had the great pleasure of staying at Breezes between March 3rd and 17th. We did not want to leave! From the very first impression to the last we have been more than impressed.

At our arrival we were met and greeted by their Hotel Manager and the Guest relations Manager. After travelling for more than 24 hours such a welcoming is more than appreciated! The feeling when we sat down in the beautiful “lobby”, just embracing the atmosphere and zipping on our cold juice drinks, we felt as if time stood still. They informed us about the things we needed to know, and we fell in love with the place there and then.
Another wonderful staff member showed us to our beauuuuutiful rooms, overlooking the beach and sea. He showed us all the facilities and made us feel very welcome.
Our experience is, that each and every person we have met during our stay has been super friendly, helpful, joyful and warm. To be surrounded by such people at your dream vacation means the world.

Breezes is quiet, calm and relaxing without being too quiet. They have the perfect balance. The entertainment and food is varied so that you will never be bored. The Exterior and interior is so tastefully designed and well put together, ahhhhh, we want to go back!

Even though the hotel was fully booked we had the unique feeling of being almost alone on the beach at several times, were even the landscaping has been given thought to.

We truly want to recommend everyone who has the possibility to visit this oasis! We have been experiencing the best service possible, during the whole process of making the reservation and through the entire stay.
Two weeks flew by. Two wonderful weeks of good sleep, good food, loads of fruits, wonderful people, snorkelling and practicing some of our African moves.

Thank you Breezes! You can be sure of seeing us again!

All the best,
The Rundqvist family

We had a really good time at Breezes Beach Club. Everybody were so friendly. If you need to relax go to Breezes and if you want to dive - use their padi dive center Rising Sun Dive Center and learn to dive. The hotel is very much aware of the locals and they supported the local village by giving them at new hospital. A very nice move! So my recommendation is, go to Breezes and at the same time you support the Island. That is something!

The Breezers is a perfect hideaway for 3 to 10 days. It is totally relaxing but one can also engage into kite surfing and all kinds of other water sports. The staff is very friendly and always correct. The management is operating smooth and when necessary alert. The breakfast is great and dinner in the evening is delicious. The rooms are very pleasant and I have not seen a single mosquito. One can make beautiful walks on the beach and there are many great places to explore in the direct vicinity. For me there were 2 drawbacks 1) The flight from Nairobi to Zanzibar with Precision Air. They simply off loaded my suitcase which arrived a day later in Zanzibar. 2) the very basic mistake by the resort owners to charge 10x to 50x more for internet access ($10 a day). This is annoying and puts many people off. Include internet into the room price.
If the owners will change the internet policy the resort is close to perfection.

We took this as a 3 day extension to our Kenya and Tanzania trip. This was a very relaxing end to what had been two weeks of early starts and late finishes. Not ever having stayed at a resort before, this reinforced our choice - and we won't be doing this again. BUT that's not to stop you; it's just that we're not stay-in-one-place people. (Deliberately haven't re-read the reviews so this is based solely on our experience.)
This is located on the east side of the island, nearly an hour from the airport. The grounds are quite nicely laid out and fully landscaped with palms, flowering bushes, and of course bouganvillia all over the place. There is a large white beach, protected from surf by a reef considerable distance off shore. While there there was a constant wind from the east.
We were in the least expensive lodging (#69) - a duplexed building, but no more than a three or four minute walk from the main restaurant.
The room was spacious, and it was well maintained, as was the bathroom - although we mentioned that the shower head sprayed more sideways than downward. The huge mosquito-netted bed was the ultimate in comfort. We found out - the hard way - that during the dinner hour, the room is made up, and it is sprayed for insects as the bed is prepared. You don't want to be in the room around this time, or for an hour afterwards. There is a covered ground-level porch, with a drying rack, a table and a couple of chairs. Ours was not very private, but since we were at the end of the row and not sit around people it really didn't make much difference - and ours had a constant breeze, which others didn't. The sand will follow you everywhere, so beware.
There is a lending library, a tv room (if you need the fix - and we have to admit watching a few minutes of Winter Olympics.), and an air-conditioned internet room. A wonderful gift store is open only for a few hours a day, but it is quite large, and carries everything from small gifts for kids, local crafts, large items, some bed and bath accessories and clothing.
The dining area was very good, with a good selection every time we ate there. Breakfast buffet had just about anything to sate a European or North American diet. Dinner switched from set menus to buffet options. The dinner options were, again, suited to just about anyone. The dinner buffet was set up with a "local market stands" area with various cooked, or being cooked options. There was a salad bar area, and flambe dessert area. Not too unexpectedly, we found the food here to be the best on our two week trip. There was a 'bird chaser' constantly chasing birds away from the restaurant, which has no wall to spoil the views, and consequently while we were there, it was cooled by the breezes. We also ate a meal in a bar beside the pool area, and found the offerings to be better than we expected; the quality and selection were first class. There was evening entertainment while dining, featuring a different genre each night we were there. We feel it is important to get some feel for local culture, and this certainly did that.
We walked the beach, dipped in the Indian Ocean, and marvelled at the discovery land made available when the tide went out; sand, tidal pools, critters, coral. There were escorted beach walks, and snorkeling, as well as wind surfing rentals, and other amenities which we did not avail ourselves of. There is also a service offering day trips to Stone Town, and spice farms, and others.
We spent some time on beach-side chaises, sheltered from the sun by thatched umbrella stands, where food and drink service is constantly available, but not thrust upon you. Inexplicably, there were always vacant chaises to chose from.
The pool is large and sheltered, but in full sun, with food and drink services available.
We found the staff we interacted with always helpfully available, with a smile.
There were special events while we were there. One was a themed day with language lessons, crafts, hair braiding, coconut harvesting from a pool-side tree, and other activities.
Overall, we rate Breezes Beach Club extremely well, but we have nothing in the same genre to compare it with. We had very little sun, but for us the cloud cover was a bonus, as the nearly 30C degrees matched perfectly with the same temperature when we returned home - but home was 30F, in a rare heatwave this winter.

After eight nights on safari we arrived at Breezes for six nights of relaxation and got it. Our transport from the hotel was waiting for us at the airport and whisked us through the crowded streets and villages to a warm welcome and cold drink. After checking in at reception we were shown to our room which was at the rear of the property through pretty gardens. We just dumped our cases and headed for dinner which was table service. Everything was explained on entering the dining room and the food was lovely. The meals are alternative buffet and table service which was a nice change from getting up to get your own food every night. Plenty of choice and all the food we enjoyed. Breakfast had plenty of choice and I just loved the pancakes and fresh fruit and juices. Waiting staff were friendly and as i had learnt a few words of Swahili one of the waiters taught me some more. In the evening there was entertainment whilst you were eating and as the restaurant was open sided there was always a lovely breeze.
The pool area was nice with plenty of sunbeds around also plenty of sunbeds on the beach area, no need to put towels down at dawn!
Staff were all very friendly with management presence all the time around the property.
Food and drinks were available from your sunbed so you didn't have to move if you didn't want to.
We were leaving the hotel a day early so we could stay in Stone Town the night before we left for the UK and as we would miss one of our evening meals were given a voucher to have lunch on the day we left.
Our room was spacious with good a/c, two large twin netted beds. Couple of power cuts but generator cut in almost immediately. No tv which we didn't miss anyway. Nice couch to chill on and cool off in the room and chairs on the patio with a stand to dry clothes.
My daughter used the on-site diving company but it was so windy her first dives were in the lagoon as they couldn't get over the reef followed the next day getting over the reef but very rough but she enjoyed the dives and the staff of the centre seemed very friendly.
Nice bar areas with a good supply of cocktails and snacks.
The beach is tidal which leads to some interesting walks out on the reef with the local villagers. There are a few beach stalls selling paintings, etc but we were never hassled into buying anything, there are also some Maasai selling jewellery, etc at the far end of the beach by the pier.
Windsurfing is available from the hotel.
We loved this hotel for the total relaxation it gave, no loud music, games, tv, just peace and quiet.
