Simple, clean guesthouse type accommodation, amazing view of the waterfalls. The owner was really friendly and looked after us well - the rice & curry for dinner was amazing and very varied on both nights.
Our driver took us here, so there is accommodation available if you're being driven. Recommend the walk along the train tracks to the waterfall and up little Adams peak.

Not sure why so many people rated this place so highly, but this was the worse out of our stays in Sri Lanka. This was booked with our tour, so we didn't have a choice. The only thing good about this place is the view, but I'm sure there are others with the same view. When we arrived there was no greeting and no checkin process. The room is shabby, with no amenities, no tv, just some shabby towels. The shower gave us spurts of cold water every few minutes. At night, the bugs tend to crawl in through the tiny gap of the patio door. Flies, moths, ticks (?), etc, We had to sleep with the provided mosquito net. The food is ok, we've had better. The location is also not in walking distance to the city. Free wifi was intermittent. I wouldn't come here again.

Great location and comfortable rooms. Wifi is almost non existent, but not surprising considering the location. It's a bit out of town, not walking distance, so you'll need wheels. Nice and quiet location

This hotel was booked by our tour company. What a great choice. High above Ella town with great views from our balcony. Our first floor room was simply furnished and clean ... we enjoyed a good night's sleep. The whole place was clean and well looked after. Vegetarian food was excellent, freshly prepared and served in the main dining/sitting area. Very attentive and helpful staff. Other guests were on different tour packages, so it was a good place to meet up with other travellers and share experiences.

We were booked in by our driver so we got a very competitive rate. The hotel aspect is fantastic, way up above the town with great views toward the Ella Gap & south.
Our room was in the garret, 3 floors above reception & the restaurant. It was very spacious, too big for a couple, the beds were ok & with a great shower.
We ate dinner which was well prepared, although the menu is very limited. Service was good although the manager was a bit distant.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a good view

We visited Ella during September 2013. As we were told that we had to be crazy to rent a car and drive ourselves in Sri Lanka, we decided to book a tour of the island with a private driver from London. We did decide the places we wanted to visit, but the tour company booked all the hotels for us. So, when we arrived to Ella Gap Panorama after the scenic train journey from Nuwara Eliya I was happy. The view from the B&B is just amazing and the gardens are beautiful and colourful. The B&B is quite basic, so don't expect luxury or a hotel feeling to it. It feels more like a private house where you have been given a room to spend the night. Our room was spacious, with en-suite bathroom and a small private terrace with an amazing view of the Ella Gap.

Best thing was that breakfast and dinner were included in the price. I have to say that the curry served during dinner is one of the best currys I have ever tasted in my life. It was so tasty and homemade...I can still remember it.

One of the best things about this place is the view of the Ella Gap from your room. I used to wake up early in the morning to see the sun rise. It is a magical experience. Also, the sunset is rather spectacular. I have to say that due to its changeable climate, the view is always changing from an amazing sunny and colourful spectacle to a moody and mysterious rainy landscape where your imagination can run wild.

I would recommend Ella Gap Panorama to all of you who are not looking for a hotel, or for something luxurious. It is a family run business which makes it the more endearing. You would feel like at home looking across the Ella Gap while relaxing with a nice cold/hot drink (depending on the weather)

The view from the balconies of these rooms and the hotel lobby is amazing. Make sure you wake up for sunrise. My only complaint is the hotel is located about 1km from the main road into town and the road is all uphill. Also, the dinner, included in some room rates was fantastic. If you go into town, you either need to drive, or if you hired a car and driver, have them take you or at least meet you to bring you back up to the hotel. Wifi could be improved.
