Tucked away up the hill from the main junction, this is a cozy, friendly place. Moist cakes are excellent too. Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) fit into the cabin well; an extra bed was provided.
Book early, there are only a few rooms, although 2 more cabins are bing constructed.

I loved my stay here. I was put in one of the cabins and, although there are slight soundproofing issues between the two, I didn't lose any sleep or peace and quiet over it. The cabins are spacious with comfy beds and mosquito nets and the whole place has a super chilled vibe. It is also conveniently located for Little Adams Peak (and for cake afterwards- they serve delicious ones!) The owner just couldn't do enough for me- he was superb!

Room Tip: the log cabins are lovely

We really, really enjoyed Little Folly. First, the location is great - close to the center of Ella's tourist center (only a couple of minutes walk), but still very quiet. The log cabins are surrounded by trees and foliage creating a picture-perfect scene. The inside of the cabin was very spacious and clean.

The food was very yummy, and great value. We actually ended up eating every meal at the guesthouse instead of venturing to other restaurants (some of the restaurants were ridiculously overpriced!). Little Folly's lemon cake is beyond scrumptious, and the coffee is great too.

The owner is very friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. He helped us map out an extraordinary hike. It's obvious that he cares a lot about his business. The owner's employee is very kind too - always ready with a smile.

Great place, great value!

Little Foly is located slightly away from the centre of Ella (which means around 200 meters, as the town is very small ^^). I stayed in one of the lodges that was located at the back, in a very nice little garden. The room was spacious, a bit expensive (compared to other guesthouses; I paid 4000 roupies per night) but definitely worth it. There is hot water and clean sheets at your disposal. Only drawback: the room is not soundproof at all, so you can hear people who are in the adjacent lodge. However, usually, tourists in Ella go to bed early as everyone is tired after trekking in the mountains, so this is not really a problem ;)

The "small room directly on the street" that Steffip89 describes is neither small, nor does it face directly on the street. We're talking about the same room because there are only three there, but this room is a very clean, decent size bedroom with en suite bathroom and outside it has a nice little table and chairs that belong to the occupant, facing out onto the rest of the café, so you can choose to sit at your own table or in the larger dining area. The log cabin bungalows behind did look even nicer but we stayed in the front room for 3 nights and had a fantastic time. You won't find a nicer man than Mr Gunasiri, but he seemed like a very intelligent and genuine man. We laughed a lot with him in the time we were there. His homemade cakes are fantastic and he even gave us a little piece for our trip when we left as a parting gift. We had breakfast and dinner here during our stay and it was all excellent. Gunasiri's family were also lovely. Basically, I can't recommend this place enough but I don't mind if people don't go there as I'd like it to stay just the same for when I next visit.

Room Tip: Try the cake. All the flavours.

We called this place 2 days before arrival and reserved a room for 3500. When arriving at the place we found out that we had a reservation for the small room on the street and not the nice bungalows described. The room was small, directly on the street and right behind the coffe( loud) and not very clean. In the first moment we said yes and the owner seemed to be surprised, but we thought the whole situation over and we talked again to the owner and said we didn't want to stay. The owner was surprisingly understandable. we originally booked 3 nights but then he told us that we can have the nice bungalow for the same price agreed but we had to leave tomorrow. for us that sounded like a great deal.
The bungalows are very nice and beautifully decorated- but as mentioned by most of the other reviewers very loud. It can actually be quite disturbing because you can literally hear every word from the other room. Our neighbors got up at 6.30 in the morning and that was the end of our sleep.
after we had moved to the nicer room the friendliness from the owner was over. I really cannot recommend you to stay at the small room it is very expensive for what it offers and you sure find cheaper and better rooms in town.

We stayed for 3 nights at one of the log cabin, very spacious and comfortable bedroom. The guesthouse stands in a very quiet place and can be a very good starting point for various walks around the beautiful village of Ella. Nice breakfast, very helpful advices from the owner, Mr Gunasiri, and tasty cakes to have with traditional tea.
