I have stayed at the Chumpon Gardens hotel dozens of times since it first opened. Never had a problem and found it good value and centrally located.
The last time I stayed with girlfriend and daughter we had a very unpleasant experience. To sum it up, the bellboy stole some of our belongings and we caught him trying to run away from the premises with our property. I managed to physically catch him so took him back into the hotel and asked reception to call the police. The receptionist refused to call the police or a manager and the bellboy refused to identify himself. Eventually my girlfriend walked to the police station and brought them to the hotel. Big smiles all round from bellboy, reception staff and police, seems they were very familiar with each other(wonder why...). They refused to file a report, not even an apology, nothing. So we had no choice but to leave, not happy customers you might say!

I don't have a single complaint about this hotel. It was everything I wanted out of a hotel, and it was only $14 (490 baht). The room was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable. It also had nice, thick curtains so that the room was totally dark for as long as we wanted to sleep. It came with free wifi, a TV, minifridge, table/chair, writing desk, and closet. It was very well-lit. The bathroom was small but well-designed - we even got a shower curtain, which is pretty rare in Thailand. Soap, TP and towels were all provided. The shower was hot and water pressure was good. The staff were nice. Like I said, no complaints. This is a solid hotel for a very good price.

If you need a one night stay over this place works fine. Cheap and do the job. Its a 15 minutes walk from the train station. And the room is clean and have a shower. You don't pay almost anything for this hotel. Skip the breakfast. If you need a shopping mal there is one called Oceans, 10 minutes walk. Try the night market. Nice to feel the “real” Thailand. Not so touristic. Bus to boat and Ko Tao pick up up at the hotel. Free WiFi.
