“Pit Stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

We wanted a comfortable overnight rest with a decent meal.
The Gentilhommiere seemed to fit the bill, we were not disappointed.
The room was comfortable although the bed a little on the hard side.
The restaurant was spacious and well laid-out, even though the bar area and around the chimney were small compared with the size of the restaurant. We made the mistake of not having aperitifs in the bar, it took over 10 minutes to be asked what we would like to drink! The service could have been quicker but the food was excellent.
The wine list was quite restricted to local wines which of course are beyond reproach, but the prices were astronomic. We had two half bottles of not exceptional wines which cost £90.00, and when we tasted them they were far too young an sharp.
We doubt if we will be going back: there are too many other boutique style restaurants with rooms in that neck of the woods.

We had used the hotel for a stop-over a few years ago and it seemed the obvious choice for a base when planning a week tourin Burgundy. The motel style rooms are small but adequate. They could possibly do with coffee and tea making facilites to be provided. After a day's touring the pool is a magic bonus set in the rural grounds adjacent to the restaurant. We ate in the hotel restaurant the first night and realised that both our stomachs and wallets would not stand many more. We found the food to be excellent, but very rich, so fine for a one off. We dicsovered the Cafe du Centre in the middle of Nuits-Saint-Georges. We ended up breakfasting there every morning and eating there every night. Great food at excellent prices (3 course menu du jour for 13.90 euros).

For a rest stop when traveling North-South or East-West the Burgundy is a delight. I recommend la Gentilhomière in Nuits St.George. Excellent restaurants with superior wines for reasonable prices and comfortable rooms for a short stay. On hot days the large swimming pool is a added luxury.
We have staid here twice in the last 5 years and highly recommend this hotel/restaurant.

Perfect location for a stopover. Suites seems to be worth the extra buck. Good airco.
The food and accompanied wine is much to expensive for the quality that is offered. The food is 'heavy' with to much of oil and fat for my liking.

Watch out, because in the end the food and beverage bill will be much higher than the room itself. For this reason I find this luxurymotel in total to expensive...

When renting a suite donnot accept number 21 and 22. They are right at the hotels airco outlet. This spoils relaxing on the terrace.

My girl and I where driving to the south of France, all the way from Denmark. As we passed Dijon, we decided to take a break ad find a nice small hotel and a place to eat. Nothing fancy where planned.
We by chance spotted the hotels local signs/ads when we drove off the freeway and started to follow them. We had no idea that such a buatifull place where located at the other end of those signs. Our first impression what nothing less than breathtaking!
Instanly we assumed that this would become an pricy affair. We wenrren't wrong but it was worth every cent.
We booked a junior suite, nr. 27, which at the price of €150 we found was a fair deal.
We also booked a tabel at the resturaunt which gave us a spectacular start on our holiday here in France. All in all, we ended up spending almost the same one wine as we did on our room. The food, wine, cheese and complementary disses was fantastic. The staff did their very best to make us feel comfortable. Even though not all of them spoke anything else than French, we had no communication problems. Their service made this short stay even more magical.

La Gentilhommiere and their restaurant Le Chef Coq deserves five stars - Hands down!

Room Tip: The junior suites are nice and comfortable. They are a bit more pricy, but worth it.

What you are paying for there is the location (Nuits Saint George in the heart of Burgundy) ...
We opted for a suite as this was a special occasion for my husband and me. We got the "Zen" suite but it was nothing special. Furniture was a bit tatty and the curtains had a tear in them.
The suites are by the car park so we heard guests coming back to their rooms throughout the night (some very drunk and very loud).

On a positive note, the air conditioning was effective and fairly quiet, the bed was also comfortable, the pool area well maintained and pleasant.

This extremely friendly hotel is located a good way off the beaten path of Nuits St Georges main road, and is built in an old hunting lodge - which gives the building a very genuine feel.

The rooms are dark, and unfortunately don't have much of a view, of anything - which was a bit of a let down considering the beauty of the surroundings. Having said that, its a blessing in disguise to have a dark room when you are jet lagged and have been wine tasting and cheese eating all day - to have a very restful room.

The rooms are a good size, although not generous, conform to the original stables in which they are built.

The staff are amazing. The restaurant really impressed me, with great food (although not traditional faire), silver service and for this area; good value. Breakfast was a little boring - although i find thats the case all over Europe (coming from Australia - where breakfast is a 2 course, 2 hour, 200$ meal)!

Can completely recommend it - cute, great value and very professional (wifi, thank goodness).
