Me and my husband stayed in this hotel during a bike trip through the Loire Valley. The estate in which is located the Chateau is amazing, very big with nice trees already all over. The site and the folders we received say this is a 4 star hotel, well it isn't, the Chateau itself is in pretty bad shape, the external paint is chipping and in some places inside the Chateau as well. The rooms don't have air conditioning, furniture looks very old and the mattress is just horrible! I had a terrible night sleep.
They have secondary building called "The Verger" which has been renovated but I didn't stay there so wouldn't be able to say if it's any good.
If you stay there you have to eat there there's no restaurant close by, and the food e pretty mediocre.
The only good point is the staff which has been very nice to us.

This was a wonderful place to stay, we stayed two nights while touring Normandy. The best part is the location, in the countryside as opposed to the city. Very interesting narrow road leading into the property. We were greeted by Joseph, a beautiful Gordon Setter who obviously loves to meet arriving guests. Our room was very nice with great furnishings and views of the grounds. We had a very nice breakfast buffet and a private dinner.

Luckily we had some time to rest and explore the beautiful grounds. We saw horses and sheep and could rest outside. There is even a small chapel which was particularly beautiful.

There are definitely stairs, wobbly and winding but other than this we enjoyed our stay here very much.

Stayed here last month as part of a Globus tour. The building is nice set in a beautiful countryside. There rooms are nice, there is a refridge in the room, glasses and corkscrew. They have a nice court yard with tables. The only problem is the owner does not want you to bring anything purchased from outside the hotel , food or drink to be consumed there. My wife and I were drinking wine outside. She went to go back to the room with a glass of wine and the owner sternly told her food or drink is not allowed outside the room, I didn't get caught outside. The next day I didn't want to break the rules so I went to the bar to order a drink. The owner brought me my scotch and a little snack- really nice but 16 euro....ouch!
The place is nice but in need of an upgrade. Outside is a little run down.

It is a pity that the owners of Chateau du Breuil have chosen to run it purely as a over priced hotel because it is a lovely building in a stunning landscape. However, the building has become run down, the guest rooms in the castle are small and lack authentic chateau character and the hotel is expensive, where you pay a premium for everything. They obviously think they are worth it, but there are chateaux in the Loire Valley that are just as attractive but retain their authentic historical flavour and are much better value for money.

Room Tip: Perhaps if you pay a great deal you may get a room that feels like it is in a chateau. We paid €255...

Stayed as part of a Globus tour.Lovely wooded grounds, well outside of any city area.Car a necessity if you're not with a tour.Nicely decorated rooms, all different. I had a corner room in the main Chateau, with a bathroom on one level, and bed on another. That room would not work for guests with mobility issues.Rooms were clean. Staff seemed overwhelmed by the large group,.Included tour meals were decent. Would stay again.

Chateau du Breuil (CdB) is located on a hundred wooded acres in the country outside of Cheverny. You drive down a long, single-lane, gravel road through the forest then arrive at a huge open courtyard that surrounds this enchanting French chateau hotel.

The staff was a little overwhelmed by a bus load of guests, but were friendly and worked hard to accommodate all of us. We were also all warmly welcomed by Josephe, the hotel's official greeter dog. There is no elevator but luckily our luggage was portered up to our room as an included part of our tour price.

We were in a spacious corner room on the 2nd floor in the original 18th century portion of the chateau. Our room was light-filled by 2 large beautifully curtained windows, had a large antique armoire which contained the in-room safe, table & chairs and a fireplace/ flat-screen TV stand. The centuries old wood floor creaked a bit but reminded me of the old farmhouse I grew up in. All around a cozy feeling. We had a good view of the lawns and CdB's large outside gravel terrace area. All the lighting and bathroom fixtures were modern and worked well. We had the most peaceful and quiet night's sleep on our trip.

CdB also consists of two annex buildings located down a lane from the main chateau. Nicknamed The Stables, they were built around 2008 near the chateau's stables next to a lovely pond and flower gardens (there is still a working horse stable on one side of the annex compound where we talked to a lady feeding a bucket of apples to two horses). The annex had about 20 rooms which offered the comforts of newer construction. We had a couple families of 5 and 7 traveling together on our bus. They very much enjoyed the annex's connecting bedrooms and living areas were they could all be together. Although in cold or rainy weather, the walk to the main chateau might not be so enjoyable as warm Autumn days.

Overall we found Chateau du Breuil ideal for day trips to see famed Loire Valley sights like the castles Chenonceau, Clos Luce and Château Chambord.

We stayed there 2 nights.
The house is very nice from the outside (although you can easily find other beautiful castles in the neighbourhood with nice hosts and regular prices).
The room was totally overpriced (185e/night + 25e for additional camp bed + 45 euros charged without notice for a pseudo late departure we did not know about, on a Sunday night a 21st September (as if the hotel was full at that date...) and when a friend had rented the whole castle for a wedding sunday brunch !!! No small profits for them...the owner did not even have the decency to show up and explain about it when we complained and finally paid without making scandal as we know how to behave at least).
The owner was extremely rude with other friends staying in the same place. They charge a poor cheese plate 20/25 euros, complaining about having to bring you food at 3pm. Service is a disaster, not a smile, not a thank you.
Rooms are old (but quiet to be fair). Bathroom does not have a proper door to close it.
Breakfast is nice.
But being welcomed that way and treated so bad and having the feeling of being robbed 45 additional euros for no reason (this is a question of principle) made me write this review (which I usually never do unless the're good).
So, find another nice castle in the surroundings for a quiet and nice stay with nice hosts but do not go there.
