The Chateau is very beautifully decorated and furnished. The original fabric of the building has been kept in an excellent state of preservation. The bedrooms are large and living rooms well appointed with authentic features. The chateau is conveniently situated near the motorway junction, the coast is very near and there are many opportunities for days out. Lots of helpful leaflets, maps and brochures are available. This very grand house has been in the same family for many years and Marie-Sophie, its current custodian, is an excellent curator. The modern facilities and equipment you would normally need are within the house, including wi-fi throughout; outdoors there is a large and delightful park. There is an attractive crystal clear swimming pool supplied with lounging equipment. The large south facing terrasse has ample outdoor furniture and is ideal for evening aperos and meals. We had a large family gathering over the week we stayed and we all enjoyed the ambience and grandeur of living, albeit temporarily, in such elegant surroundings.
What a beautiful place! The pictures don't really do it justice. The Chateau is in the middle of the Languedoc wine region not far from the artistic town of Pezenas, the charming port of Marseillan and many sandy beaches. We had plans to visit further afield but were so comfortable at the Chateau we couldn't drag ourselves away. The very kind and charming owner has thought of everything to provide a real home from home experience. As a group of 10 mixed age adults it suited our needs perfectly. All the beds were comfortable and the rooms decorated in a traditional antique style. The three bathrooms were perfectly adequate for our needs. The extensive grounds and beautiful pool provided plenty of opportunities for outdoor sports, e.g. Badminton, volleyball and table tennis. We'd love to return to Chateau d'Hortes.
there were 6 of us all needing a relaxing break after a crazy year
well this is the place to leave all your troubles at the very large front gates.

We have stayed at Château d'Hortes regularly in the Summer for the past 16 years. Two families, 8 persons in all and then over the 2-week period friends join us for a total of 10-12 persons. The domaine and Château are superb. Lots of space for all - inside and out - teenagers have their own "salon" for gaming and media, other inside salon and dining room if the weather is not perfect. The outside terrace is divine with a view that will relax you immediately. The rooms are enormous, antique in style but very well kept with comfortable beds. Sufficient number of bathrooms for all. Kitchen is large, old-style but fully equipped to cook anything you can think of. Kitchen ware and glasses in ample number for big tables. Everything has been thought through with care. The park is magnificent and closed-in pool area is a dream. Grounds, pool area, pool furniture are all perfectly kept. Bed linens and towels are changed once a week. We usually request 2 hours of hours of housekeeping every day which works well for a large number of residents! Wine tasting event organized one evening on the terrace is great fun. Paëlla for 12 delivered one evening was delicious. We also did the sailing outing with skipper in Cap d'Agde which was very pleasant. Nice restaurants close by (check out l'Hacienda), beautiful Bouzigues for oysters and fish. The region is charming. The owner lives on the domaine and is always available for advice and tips.
We hired this Chateau in Bessan for 2 weeks and had a fantastic time. The Chateau is absolutely beautiful with wonderful surroundings and a superb pool. Marie-Sophie was extremely welcoming and looked after us for the entire trip. Marie-Sophie organised a wine tasting and tapas evening, which is a must and a paella night too. The environment is tranquil and totally relaxing. I highly recommend hiring this Chateau.
Chateau D'Hortes is truly a wonderful place to spend the holidays. Everything in the chateau is authentic and takes you back to earlier times, though incredibly clean and well kept. The owners couldn't be more helpful! Would definitely recommend and look forward to another holiday at le Chateau!
My wife and I and our extended family (10 people in total) stayed at the Château for a week at the start of July and had a fabulous time. The Château is georgious and kept in immaculate condition. Pool is also great, and there are many things to do and see near by. Marie-Sophie was a very helpful and welcoming host and helped us arrange a number of outings. I can highly recommend!!
