“The hotel and owner are a treasure!”
Reviewed 17 October 2010

Thank you so much for naming the l’Hôtel de Vigniamont in Pezenas as a TripAdvisor best hotel. We immediately booked a four-day trip and discovered on arriving that everyone else there had also heard about the hotel from you. We were not disappointed. Babette Brun, the new owner, was wonderful. My husband mentioned in passing that it was a birthday weekend for me. She showed up the next morning with a bouquet of beautiful flowers and, my birthday evening, delivered champagne to the door of our suite.

Babette’s breakfasts – a wide variety of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, meats, cheese, bread, croissants, homemade jams, orange juice, tea and coffee – were so copious that we couldn’t eat lunch until late afternoon. The evening “dégustations” included delicious hors d’oeuvre and local wines, as well as chats with our charming hostess. She had a wealth of invaluable information to share about the area, and she was genuinely interested in learning more about her guests, both in English and in French.

Our suite was lovely, the hotel so calm that we didn’t hear the storm outside or any city noise. The only caveat – if you need to watch television or want the amenities of a large, business-oriented hotel, this delightfully cozy bed and breakfast is not for you!

Many thanks again for contributing to our memorable trip.

This was the most delightful little hotel we have ever stayed in when visiting France. Babette was so welcoming and even came to rescue us when we were lost in the middle of Pezenas. Our rooms were wonderfully comfortable, especially the beds, and a nice touch of providing fruit, wine and water were really appreciated.
Babette's wine tasting with home made canapes took place every evening and provided the opportunity to meet other guests from UK, America and France. Unfortunately we weren't able to get a reservation at L'Entrepot but Babette's next suggestion was Restaurant Le Pre Saint Jean which was excellent.
Pezenas was an interesting place to spend a long weekend, but Hotel De Vigniamont was a real find - and Babette and her husband were just so warm and welcoming, we can't wait to go back again! And look out for Tango - he was another star!

We were on a self-guided bike tour of this area of France and used Pezenas as our base for several loop rides. When I booked the hotel I had no idea of the treat that was in store for us.

From the moment we arrived, Babette made us feel welcomed and at home. The property is really elegant and special - I wish I had planned more down time so I could have enjoyed relaxing on the roof top terrace - maybe next trip. Our room was beautifully decorated and comfortable, with a huge closet, tiled shower and separate sitting area. A bottle of wine and bowl of fresh fruit was waiting for us when we opened the door and great smelling toiletries provided. The nightly wine tasting was an unexpected benefit and the breakfast spread in the morning to die for - she even let us try some of her special preserves one morning. Honestly, I sort of wanted to live there by the time we had to check out.

Babette and her family were charming and interesting to talk to. This hotel was my favorite thing about staying in Pezenas. The restaurant Les Entre Pots (recommended by Babette) was also amazing. I can't wait to go back for another visit.

What a lovely hotel, Babette has been the proprietor since June so it would seem that any problems with reservations (subject of a previous review) have been ironed out. A very warm welcome and lovely accommodation. The roof terrace, which is not shown in the photos, is a great extra where you can prepare a snack or just enjoy a glass of wine. Ample fridge provided for guest's use. We would highly recommend this lovely Boutique hotel. The resturant Babette recommended 'Entre Pots' was also superb.

Stayed for a two day treat in september. Stunning building and charming hosts. Babette, the owner made us feel very welcome and offered snacks and wine to her guests in the early evening. We made use of the attractive roof terrace to enjoy the weather prior to evenings out sampling the local restaurants. We stayed in a beautiful suite which opened out onto the peaceful inner courtyard. The one negative review from a previous guest must have been a competitor as it was hard to find fault.

My family and I have just returned from a long weekend at Hotel de Vigniamont and though I have never felt inclined to put metaphorical pen to paper to write a review before, I felt compelled to make an exception in this instance. The reason for this is that this chambre d'hote is practically perfect in every way (to coin a phrase).

The bedrooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, with thoughtful extra touches such as bottles of wine, a bowl full of fresh fruit and a bottle of mineral water at no extra charge. The toiletries are good quality and generous in size. The beds are large and comfortable and if you are fortunate enough to stay in the Vigniamont Suite there is a large lounge area to relax of an evening, with a glass of wine and a good book.

We made much use of the terrace during our stay, which provided a sheltered haven from the strong winds and allowed us to soak up a last few rays of sun (until the next holiday).

Perhaps the hightlight of our visit was the daily wine tasting in the hotel lounge, during which hor d'oevres and a selection of wines were served. The wine flowed freely and the hor d'oevres were delicious and for the most part homemade.

What really made our trip special, however, was Babette, who was a most kind, generous and welcoming host. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she welcomed us into her home in an inobtrusive manner. Her thoughtful extra touches (toys for my baby neice, scented wardrobe saches for the ladies in our party) and her intelligent conversation made a refreshing change from the usual level of service to which one has become accustomed and her passion for her business is gratifying.

In short, a wonderful break in a beautiful hotel with an excellent level of service. We are already planning our return.

Struggling late one night after a long drive to find our hotel, we were slightly hassled and from the outside the property in a small narrow street looked just OK. However, once you step inside a lovely mediaeval passageway/staircase awaits and introduces you to this truly memorable property. The room we had (Langedoc suite) was calm, cosy, good sized and v comfortable. Parking initially looked to be a problem, but there are plenty of cheap public car-parks within a couple of minutes walk. Breakfasts were good. The old town is v interesting with plenty of shops and good cafes. The best part is the new owner Babette who is a lovely mix of warm, welcoming, charming, helpful and is passionate about her new business/home. I would be too it's lovely!
