“A great and friendly stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2013

Stayed at the Hotel de Paris as a stop over, staff couldn't have been any friendlier or more helpful. Room was excellent with our toddler well catered for. Breakfast and lunch both very good, all in all a really good value experience.

We stayed at Hotel de Paris for 4 nights in late June 2013. The room was clean and basic which is all we required as we were out exploring most days. The first night we ate in the hotel restaurant and it was great - which we weren't expecting. Our host Denni was very helpful with local tips and even let us use his GPS to help get to a wedding destination. The garden out the back is lovely in nice weather and we were offered the use of a BBQ to cook local seafood. The only downsides were that WIFI was only connecting in the reception area, which meant leaving our room to check emails etc, and our shower drain smelt dreadful. This was fixed by using the plug to cover the drain during the night. All in all, for the price it was a great hotel in a great location in the main street so everything at your fingertips. Also, a market happens on a Saturday, which has all the fromage and seafood you can handle!

We stayed for three nights as we were visiting the area. The room was perfectly adequate and clean (if a little on the small side) although there was no maid service during our stay, A bonus was the full range of UK TV channels available and the free wi-fi which functioned without issue.

Restaurant service was extremely slow when busy and I have the impression that the hotel was understaffed.

Having said that the staff were all friendly and we would stay again if we wanted a budget hotel in the area.

We had arranged to stay at this hotel for one night only, however we had an experience to remember for a long time. During our stay there was a blizzard and the Prefecture de police put a red warning out so that no civilan vehicles could use the roads! We had no heat or hot water for a couple of days but some guests were working for EDF and found a generator in one of the vans. This got linked up to the boiler and whilst there was fuel we had hot water and heat....wonderful. The owner, Denis couldn't have been more helpful. He fed us by cooking over a log fire, had an enormous amount of candles that he had bought just before the roads were closed. He is one of the most sociable owners that I have ever come across, his english is almost perfect and the staff that managed to get in were really helpful. The first night we were there we had a really good meal and very reasonably priced, so much so that we will most definately go there again. The rooms are fine, not 5-star but you get what you pay for. This is a really friendly place to stay and not over priced. All in all, apart from the weather a good 3-days were spent there. I wil attempt to add photo's but don't hold your breath, I'm not too good with technoligy.

This was a last minute decision to travel from the UK, we found Hotel de Paris to be the only hotel with rooms available for the bank holiday, we took the room. On our arrival we met Denis, the owner, what a wonderful host he turned out to be. He introduced us to guests and some of the local residents. Our french is not good but he translated for us and the locals. His staff were very helpful. Nothing was a problem.Denis is a very professional and generous host.
We will definitely be returning in the summer of 2013 BUT for longer.
Merci Denis.

Room Tip: The chef provides wonderful meals. The lobster we had there was excellent..

We had booked this hotel online going by the reviews posted. Unfortunately we did not find the room up to the expectations that other travelers had given. The front desk staff was very frendly and helpful but the room she showed us to had a large roll in the carpet and the bed looked like it was about to collapse to one side. There was no shower in the room only a toliet and sink. The shower was a communal one down the hall. Not sure where it told us that on the reservation information? The young lady realized we were not happy and very nicely showed us an alternative room in another wing of the hotel but the overall musty smell and age of the place had my husband heading for the car.

Our original intention was to stay for a couple of nights while exploring the south of the Cotentin Peninsula, but the location was so handy we stayed for four.

As others have said, the facilities are quite basic but clean and completely adequate for a short stay. A previous reviewer mentioned that their room wasn't cleaned during a two night stay - there is a notice on reception statng that if you wish your room to be cleaned you must leave your key at reception when you go out, so that might explain it.

For the first two nights we stayed in a first floor room in the main building - clean and adequate with a nice bathroom. For the third night we were moved to one of the ground floor apartments in the annexe by the car parking area. Similar quality room, but the WiFi signal didn't reach there. Also, because people passed by from time to time, we had to keep the curtains closed for privacy and close the window at night, which made the room very stuffy. Back in the main building on the second floor for night four - not quite as nice as the first room but perfectly fine for our needs.

The restaurant menu looked very appealing to me but my wife is vegetarian and there was no option for her, so we ate out each night (the Pizzeria and Creperie in Carteret are both very nice).

Adequate off-road parking at the rear, accessed through a narrow passageway.

Served our needs perfectly for a short stay.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building have WiFi and, in my opinion, are better than those in the annexe.
