This roomy chalet was accurately described with helpful, prompt information supplied by the owner. It is warm with plenty of hot water (there were 10 of us plus a toddler) and about 5-7 minutes walk to the ski lifts. We used the ski lockers (50 euros for 6 days for five people) to avoid carrying skis and walking on the road in ski boots which was icy on some days following fresh snow. The chalet is generally well-equipped (e.g. Kitchen stuff and good quality bedding) with plenty of cupboard space in the rooms and a big garage for skis, buggy, etc. We like to cook elaborate evening meals and didn't find the table seating - benches and stools without backs - conducive to leisurely dinners. There were a couple of folding chairs with backs. Sound proofing is pretty grim between the lounge and bedrooms. The mezzanine makes a good 5th bedroom although you need to be aware that it is open to the lounge and so doesn't have sound privacy. Overall, the chalet is extremely good value and well run with an efficient, helpful, handover person, Pip. I think we would have been more than happy to pay an extra few quid for wifi.
Vaujany is small which means no lift queues (great). The cabin car takes you right to the heart of the ski-Ing area very quickly and we enjoyed ski-Ing the very extensive area with lots of great long routes for intermediates plus. However, we would not recommend staying in Vaujany if you are a new skier. There are few greens accessible and the blues and some Reds were at the trickier end of the scale. Alpe d'Huez has many more easy slopes but they are a trail to get to on gondolas if you are not comfortable ski-ing reds. We found the crèche to be good quality and good value and those who used the ski school and off-piste lessons were generally very satisfied. The village has a limited selection of amenities and the main 'square' with shops and restaurants is a bit of a trek away up several escalators which have been installed to deal with the steep climb. We found the food shop to be quite limited and expensive (17euros a kilo for minced beef) and ended up driving about 20 miles to get nappies. So if you plan to do a lot of self catering, it is worth making sure you pick stuff up in advance. The bakery is much nearer with really good bread, pain choices, etc. The village has various other leisure activities but the snow was so good that we didn't have time to use them.

Our transfer to Vaujany (flew into Grenoble) was quick and easy which was a great start to the holiday. The Chalet was perfect. Surprising large and spacious compared to other ski chalets I've stayed in. The chalet slept 10 of us very comfortably and there was loads of places to store all the necessary ski gear. Many thanks Amanda
Our family had a fantastic week skiing in Feb this year staying at Chalet La Fraise. It’s only an hour’s drive from Grenoble and the caretaker, Pip, was there to meet us on our arrival for a smooth handover. He showed us how to work the underfloor heating, boot warmers, general appliances and gave us some good recommendations for restaurants on and off the mountains. The chalet is very large and well equipped – all the bedrooms are good sizes with plenty of drawers and places to hang your stuff. There are some games for the kids as well as a TV and dvd player - we generally spent the evenings playing cards and reading by the open fire. It’s only a short 5 mins walk to the ski lifts – despite being half term, we were happy that there were never queues and we could always get on the first gondola. The small supermarket in the village is well stocked and we found everything we needed there for the week including some lovely Sancerre! There was also a good selection of clothes shops, bars, restaurants and a bakery. We really enjoyed the skiing – plenty of variety for all levels. We can hardly wait to go again and have already booked Chalet La Fraise for the same week next year!
