“High quality apartment with easy ski-in ski-out option”
Reviewed 26 January 2014

Accommodation well-appointed and very spacious - we opted for 2 bedrooms for 4 adults. Easy access to slopes (ski-in ski-out) and free bus/shuttle into main hub for restaurants/shopping, though only 5-10mins brisk walk away if you prefer the exercise.

Flaine is composed of several different parts (Flaine Forum, Flaine Fôret, Flaine les Hameau, …) All of them lay apart on different altitudes. There is a special lift going from Forum to Fôret and vice versa. If you want to go to les Hameau it’s best to take the skibus.

The appartments from Les Terrasses d’Eos are located along the road between Flaine Les Hameau and Flaine Fôret. As far as location goes, it’s ideal for in and out skiing. One of the blue slopes passes right by the building and you can ski away right away. From there you can take a first smaller chairlift that gives you access to the whole domain.

The fact that the building is not located in town didn’t bother us what so ever however you need to take into account that it’s a 10 min walk down to Flaine Fôret and a walk back up the mountain. Coming back when carrying groceries it might be a bit strenuous. Alternatively you can take the skibus which stops in front of the building or the free shuttle bus they offer. We didn’t use them and frankly we considered the little walk as a positive thing.

Les Terrasses d’Eos are perfect for a ski holiday. The apartments are spacious as far as French apartments go. We had a 6 persons apartment type Espace (2 separate beds and bathrooms) for the 3 of us. We had an apartment facing south with a view over Flaine and the slopes on the other side of the valley. Perfect! Sun from morning till evening and a big balcony.
The apartments are nicely furbished and it looks modern and still fresh (specially the bathrooms). The bedrooms were spacious with enough closets.
The kitchen is fine for a week of holiday cooking but a bit more equipment would have been nice (1 pot, 1 pan, …) On the other hand there was a Nespresso machine and you get a welcome pack with kitchen utensils (sponge, detergent, kitchen towel, etc) and a little pack with coffee, thee, hot chocolate, sugar, peper, salt, etc…)
A definite plus about these apartments is the fact that your beds are made upon arrival and you get bathroom towels (changed in the middle of the week) bathrobe, slippers, etc… Comes in very handy when going to Spa.
The Spa is ok with a sauna, hammam, hot tub and pool. The outside pool is well heated. The only thing missing were sunbeds to relax after the sauna and the whole area felt a bit bare…

The wifi was a bit whimsical. If you managed to get on it, it was strong and fast but getting connected was the real challenge.

Other things that deserve a big plus: the covered parking (75€/week). We had massive snow during our stay and were happy that we didn’t have to dig out our car at the end of the week (Flaine is car free so all cars are parked outside on big parking lots).
Bread service in the morning. Just order the day before what you would like and pick it up in the morning.
Friendly staff at the reception desk. Fast checking in and out.

Really good hotel/apartments but rooms a little small for a family of four with not enough drawer/cupboard space. Everything else was fantastic and of the highest quality. Good to ski in and ski out. Staff excellent and very helpful

Room Tip: Rooms a little small for a family of four with not enough drawer/cupboard space.

Second stay here lived up to expectations. Having your own apartment with benefit of hotel reception is ideal. Convenient to order bakery for breakfast, use the pool and jacuzzi or for making use of free shuttle bus in the evening. Free local bus through the day with stop right outside. Good base for kids to be collected for ESF or rabbit club. Good ski room provided for use with room and padlock provided. Ski straight out from here to the slope.
Apt brilliant with lots of space. Dressing gown and slippers provided. Welcome pack includes dishwasher tablets and cleaning stuff also tea coffee etc. They seem to have thought of everything. Staff very helpful and genuinely nice people. Expect to stay again if in Flaine.

This is a great property. Very good standard of accommodation and very comfortable. Booked a two bedroom espace apartment and was very pleased with it overall. Room make up was a double and a twin plus a double sofa bed in living area. I would suggest that it would be very cramped if the place was full with 6 people in the group but there were not that many people in ours so we were comfortable. We had a forth floor apartment which had a great balcony view over the valley. Wifi reception was very limited however. Pool temperature was a lot cooler than expected and therefore more time spent in the hot tub than in the outside pool - there was no steam coming off the water as the promotional shots indicate! Sauna and steam room quite small too. Location wise the property is slightly out of town a 10 to 15 minute walk up from Flaine Foret (the slightly higher part of the village). There was a free shuttle service betwwen 6pm and 11pm which was most useful. Just call one of the three drivers and they come and get you from wherever you are. These things are just things to be aware of, overall we were very pleased with our stay and found staff very helpful and courteous. One last tip would be to get to the check in desk first as the whole process takes a while and there can be quite a queue. Would definately stay at this property again, had a great time.

Room Tip: Book a room where the living room is not needed to sleep in. High floor gets great views but limited...

The hotel is amazing inside and out, apartments are comfortable and clean and the ski in/ski out is amazing.

The ski lockers are on the 3rd floor right next to the exit, we fit 5 pairs of skis and boots in them no problem. The balcony in our room was spacious with 2 doors to access it, this ended up getting used an an outdoor fridge more than a balcony though.

The outdoor pool was one of the weirdest/best experiences of my life, the frist day we arrived it snowed something like 12 inches and being in a heated pool while it's snowing is a strange experience. It's a BIT cold but what do you expect, you get used to it after you've moved around a bit anyway.

The only reason i'm not giving it 5 stars is because of a few minor things that annoyed us through the week. There was 6 people staying in our room yet we only got 2 bath robes (which you need to walk to and from the pool). The staff are pretty helpful so we just went down to get more. When we asked the reception for more they gave us 2 more meaning we now had 4 and then argued that the apartment only had 2 rooms so we were only due 4... The apartment sleeps 6 and there was 6 of us staying there, regardless of the number of rooms. We ended up getting them anyway but there shouldn't have been a problem.

There is no toaster or microwave yet they supply you with a dishwasher, thought that was pretty strange, surely you'd supply a microwave before a dishwasher? There were loads of places to eat and a couple of our group were decent enough cooks though but it woulda been nice to microwave a couple of ready meals or something.

Last complaint is the wifi, I understand you're in the middle of the alpes but it is really, really bad. You're only allowed 1 password per room and it only works on one device (if you even manage to get on, it randomly kicks you off and stops working for no reason) Throw one wifi password at a group of six, 20 year old guys in 2014 and you can imagine the scenes in our room! You're out skiing 9 till 4 then in the pool/apres ski/wandering through the town/shopping but decent wifi would have been a nice touch for the occasional time you're sitting around the room.

Reading that back it sounds like quite a negative review but the place was honestly amazing apart from that, so just beware!

Room Tip: The top floor gets the best balocnies.

My partner and I stayed here during the opening week of the Flaine ski area, 14th-21st December 2013. Having looked at the webcams for the area every day until setting off for the resort we were discouraged by the lack of snow. However, even with minimal snow cover the good people at Flaine are extremely good at spreading the snow about, giving us skiers excellent conditions. That said, we did get some pretty good powder towards the end of the week.

We stayed in room 715- we rented it from a couple who own the room, rather than the hotel. The staff are extremely friendly (and speak very good English). Check in time is normally about 17:00 I think but they were more than happy to let the room go at 11:00, when we arrived which was a bonus. The room itself was exactly what we hoped for. Beautifully equipped (which I believe is standard for all rooms) with excellent views. The log fires are especially pleasing. Leisure facilities are also firsts class here. The pool is heated, and is just about bearable outside, surrounded by the snow. For the less adventurous, the sauna, steam room and hot tub are all good alternatives, with the latter offering superb views of the mountains.

Scroll down and you will see other reviews with complaints about the distance between the hotel and ski area. If you are just going into the center of the resort on foot, then it really isn't that much of a walk. If you're going to get to the ski area, again it is very simple- the *free* shuttle bus comes every 15 minutes and takes you right to the doorstep, as it were.

Flaine is a bit of a concrete jungle, but who really cares about that when you're there for the slopes, eh?

All in all, a first class hotel. Will definitely be coming back.

Room Tip: Top floor, front of the building- you won't go wrong!
