“Cosy traditional-style restaurant, tasty food”
Reviewed 25 March 2014

Our group of 8 ate dinner at this cosy little restaurant last week. The service was attentive, the rustic-feel setting was pleasant with a warm ambience, and it was busy but without a long wait to be served with the courses.

Between us we tried most of the main courses on the menu and none disappointed, the venison and the lamb shank were delicious and tender and there was more than enough of each serving. The salmon tartare starter was excellent and it was fortunate two of us shared it as it left room for dessert. Sadly the cheesecake was no longer available but the blueberry tart was a good substitute. Wine was not overpriced and everything was served with a smile.

If we visited Flaine again we would have no hesitation in going back to this place. Recommend that you book as it is not that big. It is also a short drive from Flaine Montsoleil so you would need transport but the restaurant does say there is a shuttle bus which you could use.

“Delicious food - better than ever!”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

We have always enjoyed the setting and meals here, but the recent change of management has elevated the experience even further. The menu is short but offers several tempting options, with both local and international flavours. The venison was superb - tender and tasty - and the duck equally delicious. Good choice of wine, not overpriced. Complimentary Genepi with the bill is always a nice touch!
The atmosphere was buzzing with all but one table for 2 occupied, and the waiting staff friendly and attentive.
We will definitely be back next year!

“Lovely setting lovely food”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

Our taxi driver recommended this as his favorite restaurant and we weren't disappointed. A lovely setting with lots of character, and delicious food. I had the venison, my wife had the duck and my son a huge piece of braised ham. All were top quality and this will be first on our list when return to Flaine next year.

“too expensive for too little of too basic food”
Reviewed 14 January 2013

For Christmas we made a reservation at this restaurant based on the previous reviews of Trip advisor. When we arrived, we found out that the restaurant had just re-opened with a new owner and another concept (smelly cheese). We decided to try anyway since it was Christmas and Flaine does not have much choice and it had been quite a challenge to reach the restaurant in snow and ice. The surrounding of the farm is beautiful, but the menu is very limited. One of us ordered the main course potato dish, which appeared as very little in a very small bowl. If it wasn't for the price it must have been a side dish. We are used to pay for good food and we know when you don't pay much you don't get much. But here things mixed up as pay much and get little in quantity and quality.
The wine was very good but overall we were very disappointed that this was our X-mass dinner. Maybe if you like cheese give it a try, it's a long walk.

“Wonderful restaurant”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

We were recommended this restaurant by reception at the Montsoleil apartments we were staying at. We really enjoyed our evening and it was wonderful to eat in a restaurant that is run with a passion. The owner and chef came to talk to us during the evening which was lovely and the overall atmosphere was very convivial. The food was very very good - the special of pork medallions was beautifully cooked. We also had some local white wine, recommended by our waitress, which was very good. Deserts were great too with us enjoying a lemon mousse, chocolate pudding, and a baked apple dessert. Make sure you visit one evening when you are in Flaine.
