“Plastic in my plate...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013 via mobile

Food would have been "okay" if we had not been a bit nauseous all night and not found a piece of plastic in our salad. Did not seem to bother the owner who did not even come to apologize. Over rated. Even without the tummy aches and plastic bits, there i was not impressed by the food

“Le Grand Bornand”

Dinner in the Hôtel La Croix Saint Maurice was most enjoyable. We all dined from the choices on the fixed price menu and none were disappointed. Great regional food, wine and atmosphere in this beautiful French alpine restaurant.

“Good service and good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2013

In the area for two nights only in order to be at the finish line of a stage of the Tour de France and after reading favourable reviews on TA, we dined here on our first evening and as we very much enjoyed the experience, we returned the following day. In spite of the fact that on both occasions it was very crowded, the service was very prompt and efficient and the staff extremely friendly. It is a very clean establishment, has a very comfortable outdoor eating area with good views and the tables are well prepared, a jug of fresh water being provided which is a nice touch and not something one is used to seeing in Europe. Being in the area famous for reblochon cheese, I ordered tartiflette served with salad and local smoked ham and it was so delicious that I ordered the same dish on the second evening while my partner opted for two different pork dishes one served with pasta and the second with fresh vegetables and polenta both of which were delicious. We can highly recommend this restaurant which serves excellent food and is good value for money. A couple of times during the day we stopped by the bistro on the ground floor and even though it was always very crowded, the waiters were friendly and the service speedy.

“Superb!! Traditional food and great atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2012

The staff here happily accomodated our party of 10 people even though they were very busy and we had no reservation. They had no free tables downstairs so seated us upstairs in the restaurant but were happy to let the teenagers with us order pizza etc from the cheaper menu! The adults amongst us chose lovely traditional fayre from the restaurant menu and were not disappointed. My cheese fondue was to die for and at 14 euros was fantastic value. There was entrecote and all the trimmings for 13 euros and the tartiflette was again a really lovely dish. The house wine was suprisingly good for the price and the staff were warm, friendly and helpfule despite being rushed off their feet! All in all we had a fabulous evening and we were looking forward to returning on our last night of the holiday but were unfortunately snowed in our chalet and couldn't get out!!!
