We spent a week in the summer at this Club Med and it was everything we wanted in a vacation. We got a Family room with a view and we were happy with our choice even though we did not spend much time in the room. We specifically chose this location as we wanted the mountains which were a change from the beach as we live in Miami. We went hiking almost everyday which we loved. The scenery is breathtaking! The great thing is that Club Med organizes all the hikes that you could possibly want.....for free. The hikes are offered by levels and there are morning, afternoon or all day hikes. My husband and 13 year old son also did mountain biking and we all tried rafting which was fun. My son also joined the Passworld Club for teens and he really liked being in the group. The group did fun things in the day (such as accro branche, mountain biking, etc.) and had dinner together. The GOs in charge of the Passworld Club, Amine and Robin, were fantastic........genuine, fun and trustworthy. My son especially loved them. In addition, the food was very good and plentiful. There was a different theme every night. Also the entertainment was fun. All in all, I highly recommend this Club Med. The GOs are friendly and helpful, there are lots of things to do, there are Clubs for the kids, the food is great and the surroundings are heavenly.

this Club Med was our first club med experience and it was a great one. Ski on, ski off, they made it so easy for our family of 5 with small children to experience the snow. We felt it safe for our older sons (8 and 10) to have their own key to come and go as they pleased while the adults did their own ski lessons. We quickly got into a routine of all doing a ski lesson in the morning, meeting for lunch, and then skiing as a family in the afternoons. My normally whiny kids loved it so much they asked us to extend our stay! The staff were excellent and the food was good too.
Recommend this for any family.

We stayed a week with our two boys (6 and 8) in a Family Room, which has one bedroom and two banquette-style beds for the kids in the living room, which is separated from the bedroom by a sliding door. The bedroom was spacious enough for a week. The kids mini club is the big draw for families. You basically des your kids and feed them breakfast, drop them off and the young and energetic staff of the kids club take care of getting your kids off to their ski classes, lunch, snack time, dinner (optional) and evening entertainment (optional). My husband and I couldn't ski because of ankle/knee injuries, so we had the swimming pool and gym to ourselves. There are led Pilates, Step and stretching classes in the gym which has a refreshing view of the mountains. The pool is great during the day when most people are skiing, but too packed when everyone is back in the afternoon. There are two buffet snack/gouter bars per day and free flow tea/coffee/standard drinks at the bar all day. The buffet lunch and dinner are of high standard, and offer enough variety even if you don't like everything offered. But we decided its safest to stick with the simple pizzas, pastas, roasts and salads, rather than the international fare they try to offer (ie you don't go for the Asian theme night specials). Its worth booking the other restaurant where you can get fondue or pierrade at your table. nice option to get away from buffet food. Overall pricey but all inclusive and good value and the kids were in heaven the whole week. Only caution is that the kids' group ski classes can get a bit crowded during peak high season, so the younger beginners can get a bit intimidated by the chaos of having too many kids to one Aki instructor. Try to ask about the ration of kids/instructor before booking if possible. The instructors are all from the ESF school and good, but they had too many kids per group for the younger ones. Otherwise, a great stay overall and highly recommended.

This Club med is in the higher price range, with according service standards and some hidden extra's.

For the hidden extra's think about: inside parking 80€ (see tricks), ski's 130€, (poor) wifi 20€, fridge filling (?€),...

For the good stuff:
The current (2013) Chef de Village (Eric) is probably one of the best we met over the past years, radiating his good mood over the GO team. The GO team itself was indeed exceeding the average Club med level with some gems as Zoi (Mini Club) and Aurelia (Chief Reception). Most GO's have an acceptable level of English (and good knowledge of French of course).

All above may be irrelevant to 2014 travelers since the winter season is ending now but still, some of them stay for the spring season 2013.

Arrival:
Taking care of us and our luggage immediately.
The rooms:
As from the basic rate, clean & comfortable with a separable sitting room, (empty) fridge, bath with shower, terrace and enough storage space.

The food:
The golden Club med years are far behind us but you'll always find something to your taste with a large choice, even outside the themes. As always, the table wines are undrinkable. So if you like a good bottle bargain to reduce the extra price.
Note that there's no fresh juice at breakfast (see tricks below).

The Mini Club:
Well managed, we felt restful leaving our kids at the mini Club. Our youngest became even inseparable with the Israeli GO. Heartwarming.

Ski service:
This is usually a nightmare, except for this time. It went smooth, still being an unpleasant experience of course.
Ski departure is more or less "skis aux pieds" since there's a 30 m walk to leave the club. Good to know is that the club is located at the famous Vanoise Express with direct access to La Plagne.
Ski courses are organized by ESF.

The bar:
Friendly and speedy service. Beware, although branded drinks are included they try to serve you private labels. Nespresso permanently available.

Snacking:
Forget it. 'One dollar' chips and cold waffles.

Nightlife:
The usual shows and games in the evening. There's a nightclub as from 24 hrs. If you really want a party there're other options (see tricks below).

For rainy/snowy days:
The inside and outside pool area and sauna & hammam.

Tips and tricks:
- Free parking at Parking du Golf (100 m)
- Fill your fridge with your own stuff
- Fresh juice available at the bar, on request, as from 10 am.
- Request branded alcoholic drinks. They have it, they just hide it a bit.
- Go to the Jimmy's "après ski" bar in Vallendry at 15' walking distance. Better than the disco.
- Take a reservation to have lunch at the La plagne 2100 Club Med with dj on the terrace (lunch inside although). Slippers in the ski/boot room. Note that the club closed now, so regrettable for the last 2013 travelers.
- If you've (small) kids, do it on the Dutch by taking one room. You can settle them in the sitting area. These sofa's can be transformed into beds. Max 2, ideally 1. Your travel agency might resist this plan although.

I had high expectations of Club Med and this holiday exceeded them. The staff were extremely proactive in everything! The food was delicious, all you can eat oysters one day (can't complain about that). The boot room was efficient and club med reps even carry your skis to the slopes for you! We were in a basic room with our two children but iwith the sliding partition we all got privacy. The room did get rather warm but then again we live in a cold house. The bed was comfy. The children loved the holiday and at 10 and 11 - were very independent and loved their ski lessons and the food.

Room Tip: The first floor is a top tip, the rooms are quiet and the restaurant is on the same floor.

We know that club well and the fact that we've been there 4 times speaks in itself. Being the Club, there is indeed an abundance of food, quality -overall- is very good. It is a luxurious holiday for families, and one must overlook the vast amount of food/ liquid waste which results from free buffet offerings. Club rooms are indeed spacious and adequate for the amount of time you actually spend in them. Depending on your room situation, you must be prepared to walk miles in labyrinth-like corridors to reach your destination.
Ski area is superb! Vast (the 3rd or 4th biggest ski resort of France/ Europe with 425kms of pistes, green, blue, red and black, all levels welcome!!!!), part of Paradiski (La Plagne, Les Arcs and Peisey), simply beautiful, snow's always been there for us (February vacations).

Kids are well surrounded, entertainment provided with no obligation to participate. The ESF ( Ecole de Ski Francais) does not necessarily have a good reputation with Anglo-Saxons with respect to teaching children, indeed some lack child psychology input. Children are not pampered, no mucking around, be it minus 15, icy, simply get on with it!
When you register ( yourself or your children on day of arrival) make sure you/ they are where you/ they want to be as it may prove very difficult in subsequent days to change level course.

Your day of arrival is usually hectic, as you need to queue for 1) equipment rental (unless u bring up own on the plane :-) 2) kids clubs 3) ESF registration etc....

The atmosphere varies depending on the Chef du village, usually they are very present and talkative. As for the staff in general, most GO we're good. This year, we met Mohamed working at the bar, extremely charming, we shared some meals with him with great pleasure, thank you.

Our MAIN grievance this year though was upon our arrival! We usually travel by train from London, spending one night in Paris on our way to Bourg St Maurice. We arrived on Sunday, at 12h30pm, where a taxi awaited us, organised/ booked through Clubmed website. So, when we arrived at say 1pm to the club and were made to wait up to 5pm for a room, we got slightly...mmmm annoyed, shall I say. Yes, check-in in theory starts from 3pm, but I know for a fact that rooms are freed sometimes on the previous evening (Saturday evenings) or very early Sunday mornings (as people from previous week leave). So it escapes my understanding as why we had to wait nearly 4 hours to refresh ourselves and rest after a long train journey!!!!!! Clubmed organised our transfer from train station so there SHOULD be a priority system, whereby, customers who arrive early actually GAIN ACCESS to their room as they arrive. ( Some arrived long after us, and went up straight to their rooms!?). We had to wait, along with our tired children, in the lounge area where it was cool (due to constant opening of doors with arrivals/ departures) and very noisy. This is the first time this has happened to us, and we hope the last as this IS NOT ACCEPTABLE to keep a family waiting like this. People at reception desk were UNHELPFUL and could not care less! A big disappointment for us as it was our 4th visit to that particular club!
I truly hope that a Clubmed PR is reading this, please improve your system of room allocation on day of arrival! Priorities should not be given to package holidaymakers over individual families who may even pay more and yet get a lesser service. It does not make sense. Clubmed should have lists of guests with expected time of arrival, scheduled trains/ planes/ taxis and arrange room cleaning and readiness accordingly.
Miscellaneous: Wifi access slow in lounge area, slower in rooms.
May I suggest that there should be wine in big cubicles, where guests could help themselves to a 30/ 50 cl jugs or glass and thus avoid wine wastage. Even though you may feel like one glass only, a full bottle will be opened for you.
Be aware that this is a Family club, thus be prepared for children running EVERYWHERE, noise, sofas and rest areas overtaken by high-tech-powered cherubs!
There is a lovely pool and treatment area where wonderful massages are on offer.
Will we go back? Not sure yet! And that's coming from a ClubMed fan.

The holiday started with a surprise last minute upgrade from a club room to a suite. This 7th floor suite looked over the valley, had two showers, two toilets and a bath that you could probably sail across the atlantic. With my two Godsons, 17 and 11, there was more than enough room, not that we spent much time in the room anyway. We all felt treated like celebrities throughout the week. The beds were so comfortable that the boys refused to leave at the end of the week!

So on to why I saved so hard and booked this hotel - the skiing, the staff and the food.

First the skiing - we hired the club skis and kit and helmets. Great kit. We arrived on the Sunday afternoon and took the tip to go straight to the ski room for fitting. We are glad we did - no queues and the fitting was really friendly - the staff worked very hard to put everyone at ease. That done, we had a locker assigned next to the ski room and dumped all the kit in there. Next morning, the Peisey 61 lift is just at the exit of the ski room (up a small incline as the ski room is below the snow level) and on to the slopes. (The Vanoise Express to La Plagne is pretty much outside the ski room). The hotel ski pass was for the whole of Paradiski area and was for 6 days (Mon-Sat eve).

Les Arcs was having one of the best snow seasons ever when we visited and there was a whole range of skiing to be had - early compacted icy slopes, big soft moguls later in day, huge areas with few skiers on (we LOVED Le Foret run, especially on tired afternoon legs and even more so when linked all way from Transarc, with its twisty racetrack style turns). This was the boys second ever ski week and they skiied every hour available to them, venturing out further / higher each day.

Food. I have been lucky enough to eat around the world, at some of the best hotels and from some of the best chefs. Club Med was 100% fully booked our week, meaning some 1,000 people on site. The food was simply brilliant and extremely high quality - the boys were wide eyed watching the Chefs at the stations, cooking food before their eyes. The boys tried most of the dishes over the week, each night a different theme - but always with the staples available (chips, burgers, pizzas, rice, salad etc). It was when they listed the fish they had tried during the week that I fully realised how special this place is! Bream, trout, salmon, bass, hake, pollock. Meats - beef wellington, beek steak, duck (I confess I went for two portions, sorry) and pork filet mignon. Pastas too numerous to list here. Desserts (puddings were I come from) - from cakes, mousses, flans, ice creams, chocolate fountains, fresh fruit, fresh nuts. Breads, cheeses. Salads and of course - more than once I piled my plate with Tartiflette.

That was evening meal from 7pm to 9:15pm and even with a full hotel, we never felt rushed or needing to clear the table. No queues, plates collected as soon as they were empty, wine with the meal if you wanted it. Free flow fruit juices, fizzy drinks, beers. eat as much, or as little, for as long as you liked. I expected the boys to be bored and rushing from the table. That didn't happen once all week.

Breakfast and lunch had similar amounts of food available. No one was going hungry, that was for sure.

Bar. The main lounges were well used by all the families during the week (including ours) and this meant the atmosphere was buzzing. The bar was serving unlimited free drinks - both alcoholic and not - and yet there was never a feel that things were getting drunken and dangerous. No queues anywhere.

Entertainment. I had to almost drag the boys to the first night show (9:15pm each night). After that, they all but ran to the theatre area. The shows are simply brilliant - bearing in mind they are produced by the staff. Hats off the tap dancer!!!

Last night, a huge firework display over the hotel really ended the week on a high!

The staff. To finish, you know when a team is happy, dedicated and actually wanting to please. The team at Club Med Peisey Vallandry are really nice people and nothing, absolutely nothing, was too much trouble for them. You have our heartfelt thanks for a wonderful holiday. We hope that you know how much your guests appreciate your efforts.

Well done Club Med - hoping we can afford to visit again as soon as we have saved the money!
