We just returned from a trip to Europe with 30 high school students and adult chaperones.
This hotel probably doesn't quite merit four stars because it doesn't have a lot of extras, but it is a very good budget alternative.
Management was responsive to all requests, the rooms were clean, had new furniture/comfoters, and each room had nice new Samsung television with about 40 stations available. Free wi-fi for the hotel with one computer available on the upper floor.
The breakfast was good. Lots of assorted rolls, cold cuts, two cheeses, hard boiled eggs, several cereals, milk, tea, coffee and two kinds of juices. We had two dinners at the hotel--both of them very good. Grilled chicken the first night, followed by an excellent wienerschnitzel on the second. Three courses each time, with either soup or salad, main dish, and dessert.
The grounds need attention, but the staff is very accommodating to families with lots of toys for the kids. Also, the hotel is several miles from Heidelberg, but it's easy to get downtown and only takes about ten minutes by bus.
