Three of us stayed at The sarpidon apartments for 11 days From the 6th of June and It was absolutely amazing! The service we received right from the start was fantastic. The staff Catherina, Luci, Craig, Thomas, Eddie and everyone else were so lovely and the atmosphere every day By the bar/pool was great! Food and drink from the bar were spot on aswell! As it was self catering we had to go and buy our own things but other than that our rooms were good and had everything we needed for the time we were there. The apartments were only a 5 min walk from the strip which was pretty convenient. We met so many Lovely people there and we're already planning our next trip to the Sarp ;-). Thank you so much for Such an amazing time and see you guys next summer!!!! ;-D

We stayed at Sarpidon apartments from 03/06/14 for a week, they could not have been any better! The owners and staff are very welcoming as soon as you arrive, it made us feel very relaxed and happy. The place is so well set up and very clean, nothing is a problem for the staff, especially Craig, Luci and Catherina. The strip was what we expected it to be, down malia beach road which is 5mins away, did not like the quad bikes and scooters this is my only complaint. The old village is magical and the restaurants are superb we recommend the Stablos and Elizabeth restaurant for food it was excellent. The beach was good also, but you will be hassled for your sunbeds, but pay once, for a week (get discount) as it is worth it, the sea breeze is cooling!! My wife and I could not have had.. a more relaxing and happy time. This was a return to Malia after 25 years!!! We will definitely be booking up asap for next year, for more shots and beers...Yamas!!

The Sarpidon Apartments were a great base to explore the town of Malia and the surrounding area: Crete is a beautiful island! Situated in the Old Town, you're only a 10-15 minute walk away from all the bars, restaurants and clubs on the strip and 15-20 minutes away from the beach, so this also means you're away from the noise of these places that are open throughout the night.

I asked for an apartment (Apartment 505) that was quiet and on a high floor (being a 19 year old woman travelling on my own, I would feel safer not on the easily accessible ground floor), which was lovely and had 2 balconies: one at the front by the door and one accessed from the bedroom which overlooked the hills to the back. I had one of the bigger apartments available: A living/kitchen room, bathroom and bedroom, which was very spacious in comparison to most of the other apartments being more like bedsits. I've seen many people on here say that ground floor apartments can get cockroaches and ants and a high floor apartment would avoid this, which in my case it did, however I did travel in May when it is not as hot and left no food in the apartment.

The rooms echo a lot and walls and floors must be thin. The group of people staying underneath me were very loud and you could hear everything they were saying and doing: not a problem in the day as you are not there very much, but at night when you're trying to sleep it was awful. The apartments attract all different kinds of travellers wanting different experiences, so this is expected I suppose. I don't know whether in peak season they will have someone to quieten people down returning from nights out and tell them to be mindful of other guests.

The area is well kept and has the pretty backdrop of the hills behind it and the sun loungers by the pool are on a grassy garden area. If you want a quiet swim then I advise swimming between 9am-10am or after 5pm when the large groups of people aren't there.

The food is very good value for money and the bar is conveniently 24 hours a day. I usually ate breakfast or lunch there but I would advise finding other places to eat out in the town because there are some great ones. Zorba's (right by the Sarpidon) and Brasserie (near to McDonalds) were my absolute favourites, as well as Squeeze Bar and Mike's Beach Bar. I would also advise booking a trip to Spinalonga through the rep: amazing experience and you'll also visit the town of Agios Nikolaos.

Overall, it was good value for money for what the apartments were. They were cleaned every other day and everything worked; the staff were friendly; the pool area was great and the location is the best. If I was after a cheap holiday in the sun again, I would stay here.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor room or a quieter room further away from the pool area, if you want sleep bett...
