If you are looking to swim in the sea, the landscape here is beautiful. Very friendly lifeguard, lovely beach, nice café. The hotel itself is comfortable and has all amenities. The main restaurant struck a nice balance between Greek and international cuisine. It offered plenty of variety and, given the large numbers catered for, the quality was very good. Friendly, helpful staff - overall enjoyable. The only drawback here is nothing to do with the hotel itself, rather that the nearby town, Malia, is a complete hellhole. If teenage British drinking is your scene, then fine. Otherwise, you'll find Malia a hysterical version of a late-night party gone very wrong, and you might just be glad not to be in this age-group any more. Who said being young is fun? This might just be hell! During the day, the wall-to-wall English breakfast-hangover food-fastfood set-up is deeply depressing in what presumably was once a Cretan town. That said, the older town up the hill is relatively undisturbed, and worth seeing, with a couple of nice Greek restaurants. Malia is generally to be avoided, unless this place is the reason you're heading to Crete. Luckily, this hotel is just about far enough away from the misery of the town for it to be peaceful. Even at that, some noise from the local nightclub hell carries at nighttime. The country roads surrounding the hotel are also, sadly, marred by the incessant noise of quads - mostly British teenagers on hideous, gas-guzzling bikes. There are a lot of accidents with these, and they are a general scourge that could deter you from sitting on the roadside restaurants. These restaurants, in themselves, are probably very good, but who wants to hear these dreadful bikes roaring up and down the street? And they smell bad too.
Nevertheless, a very good hotel, mostly because of the landscape. It's a real shame about Malia.

Fantastic hotel and staff that fall over themselves to help and please you. The food was excellent, there literally was something for everyone's taste. Rooms were clean and maintained well. The entertainment team and the bar staff were fantastic putting on shows every night the bar staff got to know your name and your choice of drinks and were always pleasant . A big thank you also to the reception staff, who helped with maps, and directions and time tables they always had a smile on their faces. The only downfall is probably the location, it was a good 40 min walk into the nearest town with very rural surroundings also take plenty of mosquito cream as we were literally bitten to death, also take some antihistimine cream, as they will charge you around 20 euros for this in the local chemists in the village. We did not take any of the trips on this holiday we usually do at least two but found then so overpriced it really was not worth the while. A coach trip to the market was around 32 euros each?? however this is not the fault of the hotel this is the Thompson price. The trip to Spinalonga was about 60 euros each however if you take a bus to eloundi and then a boat trip it is much cheaper about 20 euros

We chose to stay here on the basis of previous trip advisor reviews and were not disappointed. We took an all inclusive package. We had a room in the main building, which was sizeable. Plenty of space for clothes. The room also overlooked the entertainment area, which meant you could watch most things from the balcony. There was something on 6 nights out of 7, and it was generally quite good. It includes some very good Greek dancing and some surprisingly good contributions from the animation team themselves. This was generally finished by 10 so was not sleep disrupting, if you wanted an early night. The bathroom is not particularly large but was well supplied with toiletries, including cotton wool pads and cotton buds. Everything was kept superbly clean. There was mostly a reasonably variety of food at lunch and dinner, and there were themed nights, e.g. Italian, Asian, Mexican etc. One hiccup only when, for a few days, moussaka kept appearing, Plenty of fresh fruit available but other deserts were mostly creamy, and gateaux. Cheese was available as well. There was lot of variety offered at breakfast. Although there is a 'Cretan corner' there is not much obviously Greek food on the menu. All meals in the main restaurant are buffet style but if you book a Greek or an Italian in the separate restaurants on site, you get waiter service, and a rather more 'fine dining' experience. All the food is well cooked, but even in the waiter service restaurants, there is not a lot of choice. We went to these more for the experience and because it made a change. There are lovely gardens in the grounds, 3 pools, which are all kept very clean, and a private beach area, where there is also a beach bar. The hotel complex is well outside the main Malia town, and is relatively rural, although there are some shops close by. Malia is about 20-25 mins walk away. However we enjoyed walking along the beach and to Malia harbour. In the opposite direction, about 10 mins walk, there is also another beach, for public use. The hotel is also a short walk from the Palace of Malia ruins. The staff were very helpful, even managing to find an extension lead for me when my straighteners cable wouldn't reach to the bathroom. As regards nationalities, there were a lot of non British the first week, and lot of British the second week.

Room Tip: Rooms 124 - 134 overlook the entertainment area.

This hotel is great if you like to share your holiday with Germans, Russians and other Eastern European's and there kids, about 90% of the total guests.
The food is repetative, and luke warm most days, not a lot of British tastes to be had, and we ate out some days although we are all inclusive, just for the change. By the end of the Holiday you are desperate for the taste of real food.
The hotel is set in lovely grounds leading down to the beach, the rooms are small but adequate, and are in need of modernisation, fridge, safe, tea & coffee is included.
The staff are great, very friendly in most, the girl in the pool bar could do with a lesson in customer service, but otherwise very accomodating and nothing is a trouble.
The 'Animation' team, do their best, but not up to Thomson standard as they are employed by the Hotel. Maybe there will be a new team in 2014, on the positive side the Girls are great.

This is probably one of the best hotels in Malia - near the beach, with 3 cool bars opened during the day and it even has it's own animation team for the night stand.
The only small disadvantage is the fact that it is a bit far away from the center of Malia city.

We have just spent 10 nights at this hotel. It is a very large complex set in beautiful well tended gardens. We had a bungalow room near the pool. All the staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. There is a good selection of food, something for everyone. The rooms are quite small, the bathroom is small but adequate. We did ask for mattress toppers as I found the beds to be very hard and uncomfortable (obviously everyone has different taste and they cannot please everyone). No sooner had we asked the toppers were at the door. When booking a trip we mentioned to the rep that the air conditioning was poor and when we got back to our room we had been offered a free upgrade to one of the suites. If you have any problem at this hotel it is rectified within minutes, you cannot fault them on service. The junior suite was of a good size but once again personally found the bed very uncomfortable and the air conditioning was no better than in the bungalow room but we then had the advantage of a sea breeze. I believe the air con is centrally controlled which is not mentioned in the Thomson brochures anywhere. All in all a nice holiday. We tend to book adult only holidays with Thomson and think we will do this again. There were quite a few screaming toddlers each day in the restaurant, (not the hotels fault) can't blame the toddlers but the parents do nothing to stop them. There is no issue with sunbeds, always plenty to be found and the same with the beach. All the staff were so helpful we actually found it difficult to tip as we could have gone on for ever.

Room Tip: Worth the upgrade to the junior suite or one of the bungalow rooms overlooking the pool.

We have just arrived back from the Cretan Malia Park so I thought I would share our experiences with you while they are still fresh.
We stayed all inclusive for the first time and felt compelled to eat and drink as mush as possible to get our monies worth, regulars to this hotel tended to be half board so make your own mind up what your best option is financially.

The food was very nice and so much choice at every sitting, including breakfast, if you want chocolate sponge and custard for breakfast it was there. Every style to suit every taste, we could not fault it, simply outstanding.

The staff on the whole were friendly, especially at the lobby bar. Overall we felt we were noticed and not just another punter who would disappear after a week. On one occasion we made a comment about something and out of the blue it was resolved to our entire satisfaction, they did not have to do this and to be honest they had to go out of their way to achieve this outcome.

We had a ground floor apartment / bungalow overlooking the pool, it was really nice and if we fancied the beech for a few hours it was literally 1 minutes walk from that location. The apartment was small but so what we were only in it to sleep. The beds have those annoying liquid proof covers on so take it off or you will be very hot during the night. The air con was effective and quiet.

The entertainment team or animation team were a friendly bunch and did all they could with the resources available. It was disappointing that we did not see any top rate acts flown in from the UK like other Thomson people at other hotels got to see. Maybe we were unlucky that week or perhaps that hotel just does not get them at all!!

This is definitely the holiday for you if you want peace and quiet, the very high majority of the guests were retired and German and kept themselves to themselves.

So to summarise the food, cleanliness, friendliness were great, the entertainment somewhat basic but delivered with great enthusiasm from a fantastic animation team.

We booked an adults only holiday with Thomson's for some peace and quiet and were surprised at the number of babies and children who were there. This did not turn out to be a problem for us but if you are by the pool and 6 children are splashing and screaming about it might be for you!!

if you want any specific questions answered message me directly.

Thank you

Paul
